But the show had its local premiere over here this year. Could be a great strategy to put Olive Overall lex Luthor in the raffle to cash in on the resurge of interest in the show.- 9,756 replies

Azog piece on Comic-Con 2013, release December 2013 Batman cowl on Comic-Con 2014, release December 2014 or January 2015 Do you seriously think they produce parts only a week in advance? The cowl and all other parts of next years sets are in production in Lego factories right now. You should try and sign up for an Inside-Tour to get a sneak-peak. You stand in line for 6 hours and get a ticket, then at the end of the day force yourself through a mass of 50² people to look up on a Din-A4 sized sheet if your number is on it. If it is you get back to the booth and get a random figure which you can trade with like minded con-goers directly beside the booth.- 9,756 replies

Oh I nearly forgot! This year saw the premiere of Justice League Unlimited Season 5 in Germany, which is the major market of Lego. A JLU based variant on that seasons main character Lex Luthor should not be discounted yet, especially with the introduction of olive colored minifig parts.- 9,756 replies

The new Batman cowl would do well for Black Panther. Seems like a confirmation to me. Also Marvel will definitely get some more publicity for the change to a female Thor so they will push Lego to make a figure of her as a raffle exclusive on SDCC and the new helmet mould could in turn be used for Hawkgirl when they keep to the design from the insightful article on Marvel.com. Also very likely since Lego Batman 3 will focus on the Justice League side and who is a more popular Leaguer waiting for release than Hawkgirl right now?- 9,756 replies

Navy Trooper Fenson replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
The exclusives of Hasbro and other such vendors are getting a wide release within the next year or are really useless like the retro Alien movie display playset which is basically a piece of plastic and a piece of cardboard. Lego could and should release items that are getting a release next year (Azog which was given away last year from LOTR is a step in that direction and before 2011 the exclusives always were a lazy mix and match from existing sets and pieces currently in production. Also sad to hear that the Batmobile will be wasted on a con exclusive when the Batman waves try so hard to seem like toys from the 60s Series. Well, it can´t be that hard to rebuild the model from the instructions for the con set since they have to use pieces already in production for other products and maybe the design will look bad anyway. Worst part would be the Adam West Batman figure but when they actually use the new style cowl in darkblue for the con exclusive it also has to see a wider release so only the prints would be problematic and decals or Decool will gladly help in that regard when Lego stays so recalcitrant.- 9,756 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Me. They are all prototypes of failed and already released sets. Literally the only thing from this cabinet there that was released after the pic went up is the AV-7 Artillery Canon and even then it´s obvious that they originally planned to release it closer to the beginning of the line in 2008 (when they actually used that artillery in the show) but scrapped it or pushed it back until this year because the design was so crap and had nothing better to release and also because limited releases of the Target/Walmart kind have crappier and unfinished looking designs. Everything else in the cabinet is a prototype of an old set (6211 ISD, UCS AT-ST, the Sandcrawlers which are obviously prototypes of the 2005 Sandcrawler and not the current release, how can anyone not see that?) or an unreleased set (UCS Vulture Droid and the Vaders Medical Droid were in a competition with the motorized AT-AT and a R2-D2 statue where you could vote which one gets released, Yavin 4 temple outside of the cabinet had a lengthy section in the first LSW dictionary where they explicitly talked about why it´s a crap set). And to tell you what happens to the few designs that are still in there: The Slave One is not a prototype of the one that will get released this year, the slope designs are lazy and outdated when looking at all the better parts and techniques that designers can and do use nowadays. Probably a prototype of a UCS Slave One that was supposed to release around 2002-2005. The Watto bust also looks more like it came from the 2001 era (regular blue and old/hard roof slopes being indicators), expected to see release alongside the Darth Maul head bust but never happened because nobody wanted that thing. The Probe Droid looks kinda fit for a release but is very small and most likely not on the price point of UCS sets and a statue set as a wide or store exclusive is out of the question after the failure of the Midi Falcon and ISD. The unreleased stuff that is left over won´t see releases because it´s TCW (cancelled), EU (now even less likely than before) or prototypes from a decade ago as well (Kashyyyk village). In before other themes in the pic: There are two unreleased Alien Conquest sets and Orthanc, everything else was released or isn´t even LEGO, sometimes an obvious MOC. So all in all, never mention that god damn picture again, there is nothing to talk about and please, can we all stop visiting rumor threads for a couple months? Here are no new infos to get until the press release of the Slave One at the end of next month and retail catalogue pics probably won´t release until October to Christmas. -
Super Heroes 2014 Rumors & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Well, I remember it very clearly. I even made a post back when the reveal was and mentioned that we already saw the pics but everybody (even myself) were just rejecting them as badly made fakes back then. When I was searching for the exact posts of the leaks I couldn´t find them through the search engine nor through looking at all pages of the March/May period. Maybe a mod deleted them after nobody was looking at them but I am certain that we all saw them around March to May 2013. Guy who gave the pics even said we shouldn´t be surprised when they appear at Comic-Con San-Diego. The picture was in a weird glossy/computerized style. Like those pics Lego makes for CMFs but rendered rougher. I think everybody was also just looking at the Riddler Mechanic fig and Dragster which are unpopular choices and some people probably thought it was fishy because of the orange parts since nobody knew or cared about Beware the Batman at that point and didn´t know they were accurately colored.- 9,756 replies

Super Heroes 2014 Rumors & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yes we did, it was in the 2013 thread around March/April/May but everybody laughed it off because the set is so crappy that we mistook it for a crappy LDD/CGI-made fake. Star Wars Super Star Destroyer Executor includes 5 figs, justification was a removable roof in a very small section where it kinda looks like the commando bridge. UCS Millenium Falcon had 5 figs even though the only interior were two seats in the cockpit. Both UCS X-Wings and the R2-D2 statue came all with R2-D2 minifigs. It isn´t far off, especially when that Joker is so popular. Better put him in a 200$ collectors set so neckbeards can pay premium instead of a 40$ regular toy set. At least it would be better than a Comic-Con raffle prize.- 9,756 replies

Super Heroes 2014 Rumors & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
It´s as good as confirmed with all those sites talking about it, the only sites that don´t say it´s the Tumbler are some less known ones talking about a Lego Movie set, probably only as click-bait so you guys link their blog here. What a great game this will be with 20 playable characters even though the game designers announced 150 in the same page you linked. Green Arrows actor tweeted a couple days ago that he is doing voice work as Green Arrow for a video game. The only other DC game in production is Arkham Knight (which has it´s voice work already completed, since it should have come out this year and voice work is the first thing you do). They did something similar for Lego Marvel too with Coulson having his actor as VA. An appearance in Lego Batman is pretty much confirmed, which doesn´t in turn confirm a set release since we are also still waiting for Coulson minifig but Green Arrow has at least a better case of being made than most other DC characters. He should be right behind the JL from the games trailer in the line of characters who get sets.- 9,756 replies

Such a rights mess doesn´t really prevent Lego from getting the rights. Mattel and several other companies already produced models of the 60s Batmobile and Lego needed joint rights packages for the Back to the Future car and I suppose for the Ghostbuster car, too. And let´s not forget the suspiciously 60s-like-looking car from that one Facebook photo from which we also got hints towards a real version of Astronaut Batman from the game and the purple Superbatman. The UCS set this year is the Tumbler but we will get our 60s Batmobile for sure.- 9,756 replies

Super Heroes 2014 Rumors & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
This place is depressing with all these baseless fears. The worst in recent years where Lego was just reusing a mould that only vaguely looked like what it was supposed to be were Clone Trooper Phase 1 pilot helmets and Riddlers cane. They did a bunch of new moulds for Big Guy Goblin so why half-megablocks the Hulkbuster then? On that matter, my german store catalogue says that all GOTG stuff is available "for a short time". How long will the stuff be available? Only half a year like the last waves of Galaxy Squad and Agents 2.0? Ever saw the Star Wars cruisers that in the stories are 30 kilometers long but then get made into a 100$ set? If anything the problem would be that there probably won´t be a prominent helicarrier in the movies anymore, Avengers 1 would have been the perfect time for one and Cap 2 maybe too but is Shield even using them in universe now? Really? This is what we have come to? Wishing for vague subthemes instead of sets or figures? Well, I guess that´s what is happening when there are so few sets, most of the time not in any way related to the source material and when we don´t even know the cast list. That sounds even worse and more complicated than the other two options, in the end it would just lead to a big fig with even more stupid attachments that might as well have been printed. Brickbuilt is better for the look and manufacturing since the big fig would need gold printing on many places to not look like unfinished crap and brickbuilt you could just decide this for yourself. It was a really bad idea to make Hulk and USM Goblin into these action figures and then putting those in the Marvel game. It was okay with LOTR/Castle trolls since they were not human but all these big guys in superhero stories are normal people, just bigger, so it should have been a regular minifig, just with bigger dimensions, maybe even brickbuilt with basic bricks and some joints. I would hope for some re-engineering of the big fig moulds and concept so that Lego could give us more characters with less hesitation and problems and giving us an actual choice in customization. Removable heads and hair would be a start, the heads a bit bigger but using the same stud connections as all other Lego so you could for use the same dome part for the head of a Juggernaut big fig and a brickbuilt Hulkbuster. Moveable legs would be really important in my opinion and making the torsos a bit more generic so you could for example use the same torso for Hulk, Juggernaut, Rhino, Venom and some more but just in different colors and prints. Of course this won´t happen anyway, the only reason they made Mammoth Dude from Chima with a minifig head was because it would have been impossible to mould and print it if it all were one part. Black Widow sounds like they already did her fig in the first Quinjet set with all these blue accent lines instead of just making it a black jumpsuit. Avengers Tower could very well be possible, in the vein of the Star Wars playsets with a chibi Quinjet. I would hope for something that still looks good when placing it next to Modular Houses but I guess that would cost 400$ and upwards so it´s not really something I would consider to buy unless they put every single figure of the regular Avengers sets in and the regular Avengers sets all have crap designs. A Hulk Helicarrier style stage playset to use as a parts pack to build your own would be preferable, hopefully with a dozen trans blue panels for some really good looking translucent Stark computers.- 9,756 replies

Super Heroes 2014 Rumors & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Well for additional sets this year it´s a bit late. A D2C set is coming according to rumors but anything else would either be the pre-order fig of the game or sets for the beginning of 2015 that may get released two weeks before christmas like Lego occasionally does. I really would expect Green Arrow to come up in some form or another. The New52 costume of his was already on the Comic-Con so when they would release him I think it´s going to be either his show look or a non-hood design like from the Justice League cartoon. San-Diego is most likely, I hope it´s like the first and second year where they revealed the entire fig line-up of the first half of the year. Easier to guess how the sets are looking like. Last year with only one set on display was really boring. The game is still called Lego Batman even though they could easily switch to Lego Justice League, so it would probably not be far off to think that all sets now contain at least Batman in a different costume plus a Leaguer. Leaving the single character movies alone of merch probably was because of the movies not really being geared for kids, Avengers is the best geared for merch and action sets. I am imagining next year to be really big. When the sets cover at the very least all the named heroes and Ultron/Vision we are already at 10 new figs. Assemble will go on until the heat death of the universe, just like USM. Ant-Man could be likely next year with the movie and even if not, the Assemble sets aren´t based on the show so we could maybe even get a EMH/classic style fig of him. Well, the first half of Marvels sets this year were practically merch for and based on the game instead of the shows. The same will definitely happen this year, DCs and Marvels Lego lines mirror each other very strongly and why would they redesign (in such a easily to manufacture style) so many characters for the game if it wouldn´t end up in sets? 52 Batman, white astronaut Batman, purple Batman of Zur-en-arrh as well as 52 Superman, 52 Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter are confirmed.- 9,756 replies

Release is different from place to place but I guess they will be wide-releases everywhere where the other SH sets are wide releases, too. I was already worrying that Hydra tank and Hulks Lab are S@H exclusive in Germany but apparently they get wide-released at the same time as GOTG and X-Jet at June 28th.- 9,756 replies

Super Heroes 2014 Rumors & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Allow me to crush your optimism. Killer Croc looks a bit too specialized and colorful but still could be. Grundy seems unlikely, I don´t think they would just take an existing hair piece and make it larger because it would imply that big figs are going to have more interchangeability other than arms and hands and that surely will never happen. Cheetah has a good chance. Kinda looks like a regular printed fig, too. Joker Henchmen wouldn´t be hard to make. Firefly would require new moulds but nothing about him is too complicated to be manufactured so I think he could go into a set. No. At least not as a pre-order fig. Well he is the main villain of the game, has a set-like looking spacecraft on the cover and uses no special prints and pieces. He is more likely to be in a set, the next wave of DC Lego is pretty much confirmed to be based on the game or at least based in space. He is on the cover, too and the current waves had this nice balancing of a new JL hero every year, they probably won´t waste him. After Lego Batman 2 all Lego games were suddenly able to include the most current and future Lego sets and figures as well as all their pre-order figures, even in prominent parts like their own side quest so I wouldn´t count on that. You don´t but Lego does apparently. The pic on Facebook with the purple Super-Batman of Zurr En Arrh also pictured Space Batman so he is definitely getting a physical release and looking at the wings on that pic it looks like a new mould so I think that one is going to be in a set but he could also be the pre-order fig but then they would have to reuse the wing piece and it looks too artificial for a CMF Angel, Hawkgirl/Hawkman or really, anything that has wings. He is excited about everything and hypes up everything, it´s really unbelievable now. "OH ALL OUR VEHICLES ARE MADE OF REAL LEGO PIECES, YOU CAN BUILD THEM YOURSELF!" Except that every model uses at least one piece unavailable in the needed color, retired pieces or rare pieces in large quantities. They sure are worth 39,99$ + 20$ international shipping from Zimbabwe for the easily scratched decals!- 9,756 replies

Legends of Chima 2014
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Quick question, because searches are failing me at the moment: Isn´t Chima supposed to end this year? Because I remember Brickset or some site reporting on the summer wave being the last wave and it made kinda sense since the whole Phoenix/Mammoth stuff seems so sudden, the technic figs were cancelled and didn´t even show up on Toy Fair NY and they apparently cancelled a big Spider/Scorpion tribe set since there is a new Spider-leg like looking mould that is only used in transblue. But now I am seeing the technic figs available everywhere and the Lego Club magazine is running a contest that would give the winner a Legends of Chima magazine subscription until August 2015, so was this changed or did I imagine all this happening? -
Super Heroes 2014 Rumors & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
That reminds me. Apparently Marvel has the merchandising rights to the Fox X-Men movies and actively keeps merch for these movies down. The best Days of Future Past got was a couple of printed cups at Pizza Hut and twinkies. There are no action figures based on DOFP and First Class so it´s possible that Lego already has the rights but is not allowed to produce any merch, much like how they have Sony Spider-Man back but only one fig as a comic-con exclusive. It is a big stretch for you. Lego Marvel also included the Spider-Woman comic-con design, let alone the entire spring line-up of the coming year. If Plastic Man were to be released within the next 12 months he would have a design in the game that is actually possible to be manufactured.- 9,756 replies

I think the guards should be dark green. Uniforms at the time were more colorful but orange isn´t really appealing or militaristic enough and meshes too strong with the yellow skin of minifigs for my taste while black isn´t really a color at all, fits the merchants and pirates better and doesn´t fit the period that well although I don´t doubt that there were some black coated soldiers. Green would add a nice diversity to the existing uniforms, even though the Armada from the 90s had one soldier with green clothing it is a very different design and could be further differentiated with dark green instead of the regular green. It would also be nice for the napoleonic wars crowd since green uniforms were worn by prussian soldiers, I believe while the dutch weren´t nearly as active or notable. I seriously never heard of orange uniforms during this time period before this thread. I am not a big enthusiast of 1800s military but this whole ordeal feels and reminds me of the Star Wars clone troopers where the clones with the most screen time and story relevance were the blue suited 501st Legion under Anakin Skywalkers command that followed him in countless episodes of the Clone Wars cartoon and very prominently in the games and Revenge of the Sith but Lego only made them in 2013 while we got the yellow 327th Star corp, red Coruscant Shock troopers, lime green Horn Company troopers, wine red 91st Reconnaissance corps clones and many more in the 8 intervening years when all of these troops only ever appeared for one minute in one scene in one movie doing absolutely nothing.

Ambassador Project - Definition of Design Constraints
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Okay, new hull parts out of the question but I still want to at least propose this idea to someone who could work with it so it maybe could get made. The problem with current ship hulls is that they are all 16 studs wide. This leads to every ship you build being 16 studs wide or needing to be made from regular bricks which are problematic with to design the specific curve that ships have. So for easier and more diverse ship designs we could use a part like the outer sides of the middle hull pieces but without the plate in the middle. Ships would be designed by making a line of hull wall pieces that are 3x8 or 3x10 and 3 or 4 bricks high and connecting the right and left side with as many regular plate pieces in whatever dimensions as needed. For the front/back you would need another type of hull piece that is curved, I think making this one fourth of the current front hull piece would be a good solution but I am no expert at angles and designing pieces so maybe we need one with a soft curve and one with a hard curve (like the difference between bricks with a 45 angle and a 75 angle, I hope somebody understands what I am trying to say). So, in total three new moulds, that are only a fraction of the size of current hulls could be a permanent solution to the "everything is 16 studs wide" problem and make for better and more diverse designs in ships and probably all other themes too. Please, I just want to see some shape and size differences like here. -
Ambassador Project - Set Suggestions
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I just wanted to come here to tell you the same as Random Guy, the 20 to 60$ sets should be more ships and not scenery. The 2009 theme was held down by having a single ship in its line-up with the rest of the sets relegated to an island, hideout and fort. I don´t like that most themes like City, Space, Superheroes and Star Wars are so vehicle based with one location set every two years but ships are front and center of pirates so there should be a selection of at least two or three types with things like the typical hideout and fort reserved for another wave or as D2C stand-alone like the Imperial Flagship from 2010 so they could get the size and attention they deserve. Also I would give these category 5-7 sets ship hulls so their design isn´t as clashing with the inevitable 100$ set and to make the ships more customizable. When the 100$ set is a smuggler/pirate ship and the two smaller ships are from the merchants and haven guard you could buy two or three of the same smaller ship and build one ship of roughly the same size and design as the 100$ one. More in spirit of the Renegade Runner, Cross Bone Clipper and Armada Flag ship but with a better design. Just taking the front and back hulls and sticking a single sail on it isn´t that great nor realistic. I don´t know ship faring terms but a sail/hull design like that from the Assassins Creed 4 gunboats could look great on its own Link to pic. Of course interconnectivity maybe needs another solution for hulls since they are maybe too big for 20$ sets but I am going to write something on that in the Design constraints topic. -

Phoenix had yellow legs with a green print on the upper front Amazing Sony-Man had red legs with dark blue print on the upper front Spider-Woman had yellow legs with red print on the upper front Not a single boot print from the front and back like that Plastic Man there. In fact, Plastic man as on this pic is impossible since the entire legs are red with the black boots printed on, meaning Lego would have to use yet another new machine to print the side of the legs, the front of the legs and across the toes. Btw. Lego movie Batwing? Sounds made up. Even if they would release it it would be in the Lego movie line and not part of Batman line and even then it´s quite late to the party with the DVD coming out this month and Lego normally being unwilling to produce Movie merch that far after release with TDKR being the only exception right now. Best part is also how they will probably have to bait people with a minifig to buy it and Green Lantern Hal Jordan seems like the perfect candidate to be exclusive to it to annoy as many people as possible. Oh well, sounds like I just made sure we will get the Batwing.- 9,756 replies

I have nothing against another Tumbler set since Legos two previous attempts are pitiful but an UCS Tumbler is not helping in finding a solution for that problem and as it seems its release postponed the release of an actually good/okay Tumbler from Cuusoo. I doubt they would put them in with such a size-difference. Or that they put in such a wide and a bit random character selection. Then that figure would have a red printed head similar to the game and if he ever appears in a set he would have a cap like Flash. It´s certain that all the figs from that game trailer will get released, otherwise they would have just kept the designs from the previous game.- 9,756 replies

I checked this theory and they did S@H promo figs, polybags, book figs and game pre-order figs with parts in colors that never appeared anywhere else. But there was never a Comic-Con raffle fig that used pieces in fully new colors, so Zur en Arrh is definitely not going to be one of those. No, through a wonder it could be a S@H D2C set but the missing D2Cs are most likely going to be from other themes than Marvel.- 9,756 replies
