LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Man, I don´t really know what to think of these Battlepacks. It´s good that we got an additional slot so that we have 4 BPs each year now but it is perpetrating the problem I already explained, that the BPs should cover the most important and named armies first and get more specific as time goes on. Instead we now have 2 BPs of no worth thanks to LEGO going the Hasbro route and making up their own clone trooper color combinations when there are already at least 100 to choose from. Ah no, I forgot, the Shadow Trooper BP is apparently kinda based on The Force Unleashed thanks to the black Royal Guards (even though in the game they had armor and these ones have robes) and the Shadow Troopers. The latter aren´t as bad I thought though, at least we get them in dark grey or stone grey which is a new color. At first I thought they would just use the clors of the 2008 Shadow Troopers. I kinda appreciate the effort of including TFU related things which I really didn´t expect since it was made non-canon, Lego didn´t care to make sets when it was actually relevant and only I and some other guy like TFU. The Geonosis BP is definitely the worst BP Lego has done to date. Not only did they have to choose Airborne and Phase 2 helmets when there already were Geonosis camo clones shown in TCW with ARF and Phase 1 helmets which could have been forgiven had the figure parts at least have been of use like how the Kashyyyk Phase 2 clones make for good modern US soldiers but nobody has nougat/orange camo, not even the Street Fighter movie. I wonder if they planned on doing Phase 1 and ARFs but Disney prevented them from it because it would be TCW merchandise, but looking at the Senate Commandos I doubt that. The Stormtrooper BP is as expected, finally a good and nice vehicle design and partspack but made completely useless because of yet another unwanted redesign. I am still thinking about buying one for the novelty of the set and figure designs but Star Wars was never known for having good price/piece ratios and seeing how Lego puts this same Stormie variant in many other Rebels sets it isn´t really necessary. That leaves us with the Senate Commando BP which ironically was at first thought to be cancelled even though it´s the best thing Lego has done since the Lucas era. Vehicle is a great partspack, it´s easy to get a nice and big troop and the soldiers aren´t as unnecessary to have in doubles like Royal guards but still not necessary to have in quantities of hundreds like most clone troopers, the fig was very rare because of the release in only 2 sets so it´s a good idea and the new release fixes the design by changing it from cartoon designs to Life action designs. I am going to get 3. -
Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to KingPixels's topic in Community
I tried this but even by only searching for "building" there are only a dozen or so listings and all are army themed sets of bricks. It seems to me that something is blocking me from all these sellers. The few I found a few months ago now all have 0 listings but I can still find a few active and unactive ones through Google and the listings that I bookmarked. Is this some kind of IP blocking by Ebay? You guys seem to have none of those problems. -
2015 LEGO Pirates Rumors and Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to Yawgmoth's topic in LEGO Pirates
Is expecting something at least like the Castle 2008/09 line for Pirates too much? This and 2009 were barely above Creator/Junior level, 2004 even had an actual Junior Pirates line which failed. I just want some okay line. It´s not like 2008 or 2010 Castle is so much harder to get kids interested in compared to 2013 Castle. Hell, 2013 Castle failed hard, Lego should know to keep juniorization out of their lines, that only ever worked out for City. Regardless of preliminary or not, this is just Pirates 2009 with redcoats swapped with bluecoats, a middle sized fort swapped for two tiny forts, the skull loo on the ships sails are on the lower sails instead of the higher sails, the lantern on the tiny boat in the pirate ship is on the front instead of the back and the gun holder is in the back instead of the front. They even changed the palm trees to mechanical looking technic parts for no reason. It just looks bad, why couldn´t they use those flexible pieces like in the 90s again? The only positives I see here are spring canons in every set and less rainbow/cartoon colors on the pirates (the latter can still be ruined). -
Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to KingPixels's topic in Community
Looks like it. TDK Batman, Zur-En Arrh, normal blue Batman and Scuba Batman. I hope these don´t cost too much or they also release the figs cheaper in a different wave. On another note, I saw these figures here on the net. They are apparently normal looking Lego minifigs but slightly larger, maybe compatible with Duplo. The figures that are available are the classics like Superman, Hulk, Hawkeye etc., made by the brand DIY. I tried finding these on Ebay and web shops but I come up with no results, I would really like to have the Hulk since this is exactly how I envisioned how Lego should have done big figs in the first place. -
DC Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussions
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to Ezekiel2517's topic in LEGO Licensed
Han was dark blue, Cold is light blue on the pic, it´s not the same. Like I said "do whatever you want with villains". It was probably chosen so his suit is more in line with the New 52 Green Lantern and overall, the differences between New 52 and old Green lantern designs are barely noticeable. Marvels prelims were also all CGI where they can use everything they want while for the mock-ups Lego has to use pieces they have/can produce which indicates that they produce a new version of the eskimo hood. The change of Electro was probably more motivated by Lego wanting to use the appearance in the movie and Lego not knowing if they have the rights to that character design. Yeah, the one from Nova. I know Prelims use different parts then the final product (should be kinda obvious to everyone at this point with Hulk and Ultimate Goblin in DC sets) but I have never encountered a prelim pic that showed a part with a new print or color that was changed again for the final set and that hood is new. How? The way I see it they would need to make removable heads and I don´t see them do that since they would have to do that with every big fig which results in more moulds that have to be made for further new big figs. It´s only not expensive for them because they just up the price for sets with new big figs. Just compare how few content the Helicarrier Breakout has next to the Lab Smash. -

But they changed MMs design because Lego is releasing him in the Brainiac set. Game designs nowadays use what Lego sells so we can be sure it will be the same. I remember how someone said (without sources) that Legos set figure designers have the lone say in the designs unless corporate gives some specific instructions, which by looking at what we got was "make all the heroes New 52 and do whatever you want with the rest" New 52 Grodd is imposible anyway, or do you see any way how Lego could give big figs capes without overhauling big fig designs to something easier and cheaper to design for? P.S. @ the Captain Cold discussion: The figure on the prelims uses the classic Captain Cold hood, even in lightblue (indicating that it isn´t a stand-in because of the new color) and you guys talk for 5 pages how New 52 Cold looks and how bad that fig would be? You really make most of your problems yourself. -
LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah, a single Stormtrooper in a 13$ set is so great. The price for those guys is still around the 5$ mark on Bricklink, which Lego shouldn´t care about since it´s second hand market. Same with the AOTC Clone Troopers, that Battlepack was just a disaster. Soldiers should be made available easier. Changing it to 4 figs of which 2 are different is a good idea but now they are mishandling it by making BPs of soldiers you don´t need multiples of. Who wants Shadow trooper armies? And why Royal Guards? The most you ever saw of them in one place in the films was the arrival of Palpatine in ROTJ, normal people can get by with only two of them and the way we always got two Guards alongside a set with Palpatine was fine. If anything they should focus on some of the high profile troopers first before veering off into random parts of the EU with Shadow Somethings or making figs of 2 minute screentime crew members like Death Star Gunners. Not that I don´t like having gunners but they could have put in two of them in the new ISD and most people would have been okay with it. Now that Lego got back to their senses that Battlepacks are armybuilders and not battles in a box they should produce figures you need the most first, since we can´t just get Battlepacks of every character, soldier, race and figure. And the Royal Guard/Death Star Gunner set doesn´t even sell well, so you don´t need to tell me kids love having more different helmet/soldier designs instead of recolors. 501st Legion ROTS style, new Stormtroopers, new Snowtroopers, new Hoth Rebels (that have white uniforms and not tan, btw.) and Wookiees. Then go to the less popular movie soldiers like Naboo guards, Gungans, all the imperial guys in the Endor bunker, maybe Ewoks since they are hard to print. Then go crazy with the thousands of clone trooper special corps from ROTS and the cartoons, needless Stormtrooper divisions, less armybuilding-friendly stuff like Separatist guards/ Senate commandos and guards and whatever else the EU has (I would really like more armored Rebel troopers like they are in the Force Unleashed games). I think it was more a joke about how Lego handled the UCS Tumbler, Executor and Slave One. The Tumbler isn´t in scale so the figures could have been taken from the set and nobody would have bat an eye, same with Executor. The Slave One is roughly minifig scale but only has a single seat in the cockpit and will probably be full of technic beams so it is a relatively useless addition and essentially a cheap marketing gag. Especially the "new" Boba Fett (Oh, he has the color on his armor scraped off at slightly different places, his stylish tail look kinda different and his legs have a slightly different design) -

Considering how this model is getting produced and sold in much larger quantities and for more than 2 years it will still be the grey Boba that´s worth the most. I will never accept a blue Boba Fett and still have my printed grey/8097 combo so this fig gets straight to Ebay/Bricklink. Do these UCS figs actually sell for 50$ or are those just wish-prices by the sellers? Has the same box as the X-Wing and Modular Town Hall. UCS Sandcrawler also had 3200 pieces and cost 300$ and Ewok Village only was so far over the mark because of the Ewoks, ropes and countless figs while this is relatively moderate. I wish people could stop pretending to know how licenses work. Same here, first true UCS since the Death Star doesn´t count apparently and I never built that Star Destroyer. Will be a blast when I finally buy it in 2 years or so. I just hope they are transparent so they can´t disintegrate. I just gave up all hope, we will never get Lando and I really don´t get how Lego can ignore the TESB duel and TESB in general so effectively for what is a decade next year. I didn´t expect any figures with this ship though. I actually hoped we wouldn´t get anything good so I wouldn´t have to pay scalper prices for the figs separate but this model is just so nice. I didn´t want to buy another Slave One after the 2010 and knew there would be a UCS release this year but now I just can´t keep the 2010 one with the UCS design floating around. Maybe I can use the 8097s parts for a Jango Slave One though. -

Since when do we get Captain Cold and in which set? I seriously read this entire thread and it sounds more like someone randomly mentioned Captain Cold as a good villain possibility (because that´s totally a rumor and not a wishlist item) and then people discussed different pics of him and his outfit. -
Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to adotnamedstud's topic in LEGO Licensed
Licenses don´t work like that. Lego was also able to do Pirates of the Carribean sets based on older movies while Mega Bloks made sets for those movies years ago. Lego only doesn´t do Marvel movie sets based on films from before 2012 because they don´t even have enough set slots for current movies (see Thor 2 and Captain America 2). Your idea of licenses would just make the matter more needlessly complicated. If it would exist the Iron Man Mark 5 suitcase in the Malibu mansion set would be illegal, which is just silly. It´s without a doubt possible that Lego can make Jurassic Park 1 to 3 sets but seeing how all set names are blanked out unlike with Indiana Jones and POTC where there were sets based on older movies and released in separate waves before the movies release where the names of the new movie sets were only revealed later, we will probably only get JP4 sets.- 1,412 replies

Comic-Con minifigures
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to SpiderSpaceman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
We are adults posting on a childrens toy message board, this happened to varying degrees to all of us already, otherwise we wouldn´t even be here. And it´s a real grand strategy of Lego to cause emotional trauma (even when it´s only a small number of children that will remember this event) by promoting those exclusive figures in books, "dictionaries" and on the internet to children that would want them but won´t get them until maybe when they are in their late teens or adult life and fork over the price of more than a 1000+ piece Lego set. -
I contacted Fbtb, Brickset and multiple other sites about this too. Especially after Fbtbs unrest last year I had thought at least they would run something on this since it is kinda more important than the whole moving the line thing but apparently nobody wants to run risk of not getting review copies of the 400$ sets except the smaller no name blogs that don´t get them in the first place and solely depend on click-baiting. The whole thing of employees being accused of giving the figures according to their whims was discussed within the week it happened but this is just getting ignored on all sides. I didn´t even get a reply from the customer service I sent this to, not even one of those no effort pre-written ones that totally ignore the subject. And that some people on here have the need to defend every person as just joking despite the evidence to the contrary isn´t helping either. You only have yourselves to blame.

Who doesn´t like free Lego? In the end the fig is exclusive to a 100$ set and still goes for 20$ after a wide release. And I doubt those Mtv.com and yahoo articles make anyone buy Lego who doesn´t already buy Lego. Really? There are people who are unhappy about not getting the Bacon Lantern when everybody hates the movie overall from story to costume design? I woud say Movie GL was one of those other good promo ideas, nobody needs the fig but it´s still a nice variant to have. Reminds me of Smaug. He is the face of the second movie and on every promo stuff but the actual Lego toys are only boring grey stuff and Smaug himself first appears 2 months before release in a set that looks like it´s based on the second movie anyway. "The one public might recognize" That´s like wanting Steel from the 90s movie, Affleck Daredevil and Roger Corman Fantastic Four. These things don´t get toys and are forgotten for a reason. The GL movie was so bad, the movies toys are still on shelves in some places and will never move. It even prevented a toyline for the much more popular Green Lantern show that ran at the same time. Getting Bacon Lantern as a 400 fig limited run is already much more than one could have asked for from Lego.

I only see the 1x1 clip holding a 1x2 grill plate as kinda questionable and even then figures holding plates is legal, or did I miss something? -
They can they can they can. Mega Bloks did it, this action figure distinction is solely for Star Wars, don´t you guys always pretend it´s otherwise for no reason. There are countless manufacturers for figures of these brands and only Star Wars is so anal about it. And even when Lego would need an extra-license, they could throw in 10 pieces to make a crappy robot, wall or rock and sell it as a polybag just like how they do it now for multiple themes since 2008 (and maybe start selling them wide outside of the USA for once). Yes there is a win, normal people could get the figs cheaper, didn´t you realize that when you typed your sentence? Only the mentally challenged collectors would get the short end of the stick and even then there is a good chance that some of said collectors see the error of their ways and stop giving packaging a worth of 100$.
-
This same guy said last year he was responsible for the Ebay auctions that went up days before the figure was given out. He is posting on this board for years with the same name, this is way too elaborate when he wants to blame someone else. Why are you defending a criminal? Do you know you could get in trouble for something like this? EBAY AUCTIONS WENT UP BEFORE THE FIG WAS GIVEN OUT Someone was and is stealing figs there and is (or at least in contact) with someone who works there for two years in a row.
-
Now this is some Grade A+ corporate shilling. Just saying something doesn´t make it real. I am a big guy for you. See, I have not grown a millimeter. Read my first reply and counter those arguments instead of ignoring them like everyone else.
-
No, there were countless auctions of Comic-Con Green Arrows up last year, days before they were even handed out. Well, that was easier than I imagined, so we know he is one of the event coordinators and worked for Lego at the very leats last year, maybe even the years before, too. I already contacted Legos customer service before but I really hope one of the dozens ambassadors could speed up the process.

I bet the kids are happy about the prizes getting stolen by the con-workers, good for publicity. It seems like the same guy also did it the last few years with all the other figs. Be quick if you want screenshots, these posts and pic are only up for a day or two.

These characters aren´t obscure. Shazam, Bizarro, Phoenix are main characters and with a firm like Mattel, Hasbro and basically anyone else beside Lego these characters would get wide releases. The Collector is a villain of the GOTG movie. If Lego were releasing someone actually obscure like Red Son Superman or CIA and Dr. Pavel from The Dark Knight Rises (characters that nobody but the biggest nerds would know or even care about) there would be no problem. Zurr-En Arrh was from a very popular and known comics arc and even had tv appearances, Spider-Woman had a show of her own just like Green Arrow. But Lego just burns the bridges for wide releases of figures like a good TDK Batman (because the black costume was used on SDCC they had to use a gray costume in the retail set even though the costume is black in the movies and the UCS Tumbler uses a Begins outfit and there will probably not be another TDK themed set again for quite some time). I am being nitpicky about costume variations from a movie but really, when you are doing something like that make the main costume color wide available and the non-canon version, based on the colorblindness of some parts designer should be the Con exclusive. And yeah, through this it´s still possible to get the Shazam from the con with a better/more accurate and printed cape and the black suit Spidey with an actual Spider-Man torso instead of just Venoms body but that probably won´t happen for quite some time too, which brings me to the main part of the problem: Of course Lego only releases these figures as exclusives because they don´t intend to sell them but that´s the point, all other DC and Hasbro licenses work out perfectly with every character that should reasonably be available being available plus some more. That is because DC and Marvel waves are the smallest waves in the entire year but Lego should expand the line and not just waste main characters on Comic-Con exclusives (and completely ignoring Captain America 2, Thor 2 and all movies before Avengers 1 by the way). People saying there should be CMF lines for every single license are getting on my nerves too but if anybody deserves a CMF line it should be Marvel and DC, not The Simpsons. Especially seeing how Marvel even had a Mega Blocks CMF line in 2011, so you can´t just pull the "no action figure license" excuse because that is confirmed to only be relevant for Star Wars. The meat of Super Heroes are the characters and thus figures, not the vehicles and builds (especially when they are most of the time so sub-par like the Spider-Trike, Hydra flatbed car and countless Bat-Whatevers). And of course complete collections aren´t feasible, especially with something as toyetic as Bionicle which Super Heroes aren´t (at least if they were sticking with the ≈ 80 years of material). I don´t think anybody ever seriously wanted all the masks since most of them don´t even play a part in any of the stories which makes your argument like comparing apples and oranges. I agree with you that nobody should be devastated because they can´t get press promo kits intended for journalists only or specifically packaged versions of figures that are already available in regular retail sets (I really loved those Azogs you gave out on the Con last year Lego) but they shouldn´t release these characters in strong limited quantities to begin with. Con exclusives, should only be repackaged old stuff or pre-releases of new stuff (just like how everyone in the action figure branch is doing it and how Lego was doing it in the years before 2011 and nobody complained). Oh yeah, some article on yahoo.com and buzzfeed is totally doing something for their reputation or make casuals buy some sets even though they promote stuff that said casuals can´t buy or would have to wait 6 months for. And the kids are running their mouth for purple psychotic Batman.

Super Heroes 2014 Rumors & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Just because Marvel releases in March they don´t put their sets on? Seems unfair. But Lego is weirdly preferring DC when it comes to special announcements and exclusive sets anyway. Announcement of the license only talked about Batman figures, Con exclusives in 2011 were all DC stuff, the two D2Cs that are known are DC, Polybags are mainly DC, S@H exclusive fig was DC two years in a row, the only SH thing at last years con was DC. Wow, great. I either get it or I can hope I can get it, so useful. Much joy coming out of that. Won´t end badly at all. Last year had four sets. Lego Movie Motorcycle Chase, Hobbit Laketown, Star Wars AT-AP and the Riddler Race. But yeah, I am rather pessimistic. A figure line-up would be the best since the actual builds will all look like crap with one or two exceptions per year. When these are all Decool you are ripped off. I could buy them all for less than a fifty and have like 40 figs extra. You only say that because you don´t know where to get them.- 9,756 replies

Super Heroes 2014 Rumors & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
It is kind of suspicious that Rocket uses wine red small legs which were only released in the roman Atlantis temple and should be out of production by now. And a Adam West Batmobile will surely use the new Bat cowl in dark blue and I wonder what figure they could release using the same mould, just re releasing the current blue Batman with a new cowl would be a bit unimaginative and I don´t expect to see many of the special costumes like Electro Batman although Space Batman is announced. Normally con exclusives only use pieces that are in current production and maybe with new prints and I would think special print runs are also more expensive and less likely for all-around printed pieces like Rockets head who needs a special run since his shoulders have another color than the available fig. I wouldn´t discount a new release immediately. I already elaborated on it in my past posts, they are not hard to find since this is the only thread I am posting in. Last years figs got a nice, little photo shoot behind some special backdrops. I think it comes with the territory of Lego expanding and attracting more people that would otherwise didn´t give a crap, or who of you actually visits yahoo.com for Lego Comic-Con news? I am already looking forward to the January wave of Marvel. The Captain America 2, Thor 2, GOTG, Avengers 2, Avengers Assemble and Ultimate Spider-Man Web Warriors sets will surely turn out great and give us the roughly 5 missing main characters of the films. Sure is weird though that the GOTG sets get such a limited release, only lasting in stores until the end of the year.- 9,756 replies

No hard feelings. I suppose the gun is the same as in the movie but judging from this pic the construction is impossible. Apparently the gun is supposed to hold the underside of a 1x1 plate through which the hook part is pulled with a small pin. They would have to release a new part or glue it.- 9,756 replies
