Exactly, and I know I should never tell the odds, but the chance that an ANH set is imminent is high. It's very high.
-
hmmm....you might be right...this shape is really confusing from certain angles :D But this seems right, in that case the microfighter is wrong though
-
Totally agree on the U-wing, I really didn't like the idea of a brand new rebel ship being involved in what is after all a direct prequel to ANH, but I was won over eventually, it so seamlessly fits in with the other Incom ships. And I guess it's not hard to justify why they don't appear ever after, since they were all destroyed on Scarif. Just one thing that I noticed with the Shuttle though, is that the wings are wrong. I always knew something was off, but even after getting the Visual Guide, I was wrong, I thought the wings are actually the same width all the way, but after seeing images of the model used by Lucasfilm, I think just the sloping is on the wrong side. The forward side of the wing should be straight, and the aft side slightly angled, like on the microfighter. And now that this revelation came to me finally, I can't help but rebuild the wings...the proportions will be slightly off still, and the angle won't be perfect, but better hopefully.

The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)

Yeah that's what I was referring to, maybe I phrased it badly. -

This is the eta-class shuttle that I find: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Eta-class_shuttle Since apparently that was CW, it's canon. -

Well, fingers crossed, so far nothing is available in TRU here from the latest wave. I've heard maybe this weekend. -
I didn't imagine the A-wing had to be introduced to anyone on this forum

Apparently, there will be a lot of material in the background to MOC when the movie comes out on home video :) -
This is a ROTJ A-wing, the cannons are supposed to be thin. The Rebels version is different in many ways, closer to the original concept from Ralph McQuarrie, but the new one is actually a really good interpretation of the A-wings in Jedi.

The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)
brobert replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That's a fair point, the Falcon didn't have that play value for kids, nor the minifigs, so it would be a hit only amongst collectors...but then again, that would be the point of UCS. Anyway, I am hoping for a cheaper set, around the 200-300$ area, that would obviously sell better. But I'm not crazy about the idea that we'd get a MF so soon again, even if I don't have any of them. -
I don't think that logic is really sound. While you are right that UCS sets appeal to a different set of consumers, because of the price point and age restriction most of the buyers are adults buying for themselves. But let's not forget, that the Prequel-generation grew up in the meantime, so those sets might have a brand new audience who can now maybe afford it, and many of them actually likes the prequels more than the old ones (crazy as it sounds...) I myself - although a member of mentioned generation - am more of an OT fan, and have many problems with the PT in general, but the one thing I think nobody can take away from them is that those films too have a very unique and interesting slew of vehicles. Therefore, I do think that even a PT UCS set - if chosen wisely and executed properly - could sell really well. But for other reasons I also doubt that we will be getting new PT UCS sets. Disney seems more focused on invoking the OT fandom, and rather quiet about the PT, only taking elements from that era that are acceptable for OT fans too, they don't want to risk upsetting the fanbase again with the controversial topics. Besides, it's the anniversary of EPIV, so they will probably focus on that era.

It is weird, because that one I didn't find anywhere except for S@H...and I'm checking everywhere because I really want to get it. I hope it's not too limited... -
I'm not quite sure a named character justifies price better than an exclusive, albeit unnamed one. Since it's almost like you cannot throw a stone without it landing on a set that has some version of Han included, I'd give the point to the new set, especially for Lando. I know it's not the right Lando for the set, but I don't mind that. I myself also have like 5 Han minifigs, and it's not like I set out to collect them... Anyway, I like the new A-wing and I will pick it up as soon as I can score a good discount on it, which might be even this weekend, since apparently retailers get it around me on the 13th, and one store has currently 20% on all SW toys..

Oh, I'm sorry guys, looks good to me, I checked the permissions too, please check again, or if still doesn't show, here's a link: https://goo.gl/photos/RfZ8MFGwXHrLWMAx6 It's the bigger part of the comparison, it shows the walkers, U- and Y-Wing, the Striker, and the two biggest vessels. Let me know if it still doesn't work. -

Well it is the movie version, only in a different wing arrangement. In the downward position the wings do look better though. -
Thanks, I shot it in a light box but it was ridiculously overexposed so I ended up photoshopping the crap out of it :D added some sepia effect for dramatic purposes :)

The image is accurate, look at the chart on the top left, according to the data sheet it is 7.3 meters long. It's just that all the other crafts are much much bigger than that. Unfortunately I didn't see any. Or just Lego wanted to add a play feature, we've seen things like that before. -

Well, the Striker is a pretty straightforward design (or if you ask me: boring :P) so you shouldn't have a problem with that. But it has some great images and cross-section of the U-wing, that might be useful for your MOC that you already started. -

Dear talented MOC-ers! I've just received my copy of the great book Rogue One The Ultimate Visual Guide, and while some of you might very well be aware of it- or even utilizing it for your creations, I want to draw all of your attention to it. It is basically the usual Visual dictionary mixed with the Incredible Cross-sections books, and contains a lot of useful information on everything Rogue One, but mostly the vehicle sections are what I believe will prove a good source for many of you. I thought I'd share just two pictures of it, so maybe I'm still not too naughty, and I think some of you may appreciate it, it shows the scale of most prominent RO vehicles to each other: Hope you find it useful, and I urge you to buy the book, it's a great album, and I think most of us can afford it, who spend a somewhat hardly justifiable amount of our money on LEGO normally :D -
I was wondering about that myself, and I hope it's just guesswork...I mean, a set like that wouldn't come until a presumably September tie-in event related to the new movie (since we haven't seen a FO bomber yet.) But I really hope that instead of just inverting the colors on old fighters, they actually put some effort into it, and came up with some new designs...

+1 for the sandcrawler, obvious really, if you have the money, you have to get that. As mentioned before it will be discontinued soon, and as good as the RO sets are, I'd still pick a UCS over them any day. (Except for insult on Hoth ofc...) -
Obviously, if you MOC, you can do a lot better than TLG-s official mdels almost every time. But the AT-ST is pretty good for the money, the tank is nothing spectacular, but the minifigs are cool.

I think after the rehash of the Death Star, a new UCS Falcon wouldn't be the best idea. But it would definitely sell as hell...I would even find it hard to resist...but I hope it will be stg else.. -
