Hmm interesting. As I can see you have limited options on your camera when it comes to manual settings, did you change anything on the lighting in between? The iso200 photos look darker for some reason, but it already started to get noisy in the darker areas, on the iso80 photo with rey's speeder does look a bit hazy on the other hand. Maybe you can play around with the metering if you have the option. Anyways it looks like your best choice is to add another light source, stabilize the camera and keep the iso as low as you can. These little Olympus cameras can get surprisingly good in the right conditions.

Why would he need new molds? New printing sure, but not molds.
-
Well it's hard to see correctly in this resolution, and on Flickr it seems you've set the photos on private... But the light is definitely more even now, all in all I'd say great results. THe contrast does seem to be a bit low, but nothing a little editing coudln't fix

Aren't lanters supposed to generate heat? But anyway you don't necessarily have to put it right before the light source, in fact, it's best if there's a good distance between then, and then you don't have to worry about heat. Most professional light diffusers are also rather like a tent on the lights, with varying distance to it, so the light diffuses more evenly (a.k.a. softboxes). Especially if you're using one lightbulb with few LED-s, like you said you do, a bigger distance is better. For the material, a simple white cloth can do the trick as well, but you can get diffusers for basically buttons on aliexpress or ebay.

We fans are probably taking a lot of thing more seriously than the healthy amount That's why ol' papa George used to say: "It's just a movie" Btw, I just got curious about the TFA version, since yours has the new dish, I guess that should be the reference. Here it looks like there is a reflector next to the cockpit, and the lights on the nose are red most of the time and smaller...so..yours is still correct..from a certain point of view :D But the main thing is it looks great so don't even worry about being "accurate"

So when you say it's fully functional...can it also shoot lasers and jump to hyperspace? All kidding aside, great MOC!

First of all: wow. This is an amazing MOC. About the lights, I wouldn't get too bogged down on this, the light were not present in ANH probably because of budgetary reasons. I remembered that they are shown being turned on when they fly into the space slug's belly, an indeed I found it: In "parking mode" the right side light is red in every scene. So yours is still correct, since the engines are lit too, it has the flight lights on. (and let's face it, the movie version of the lighting doesn't make much sense, if those are positional lights, why would they only be on when landed but eh, it's a movie )

While at the topic, if you do it yourself, a simple piece of paper from the thinner kind will work just fine as an ad hoc diffuser, you can experiment with different kinds, but it's definitely worth it for the more even lighting, and more realistic shadows even with one lightbulb :)

I have a rather small, but pretty well designed lighbox, it's called Foldio. It's not too big, but because of this easy to transport, (as the name suggests, it folds up neatly) comes with 3 backdrops, and uses built-in LED-stripes, which functions really well. The newer version is even bigger, and has built-in diffusers for the LED-strips. It's around 100 bucks, I guess you can make it cheaper at home, but if you want versatility, this is a pretty good option. My previous photos here were also shot in it.

Most of this figures do look very very awkward (especially the ones with faces), but this is the second one that actually looks cool.
-
Not bad, but the light seems a bit harsh (for my taste at least :) are you using any sort of light diffuser?

I still marvel at some of the hauls you guys just casually seem to pick up Anywho, as I was feeling particularly down in the last few weeks, I couldn't resist (hah) picking up a Resistance X-wing. I am a hypocrite, since I lashed out multiple times over the inaccuracy of this set, but I just had to feed the addiction, and it will definitely be modified in the future.

It seems white to me for the most part. LBG is used for the cannon parts

Before the comments on how inaccurate the scaling is, because this is one-quarter studs shorter/longer than this and that and whatever, let me just say that this is a great looking model. (From this angle) It's true, it is another remake, but since the last one was almost 15 years ago, probably a lot of people don't mind. It's definitely the kind of set I would like to see in the UCS line, but wasn't actually waiting to have this. Probably gonna pass on it, but finally something substantial to dwell on, and Stash doesn't have to kick everyone :)

Actually all the heads looks identical to me, and just the helmet is different. From the dark helmet I suppose the pilot might be Zev Senesca? The other one just looks like a generic rebel pilot helmet. There's only one difference in the printing of the figures from the old ones, and that's the arm printing. Otherwise these are exactly the same as the Dak Ralter minifig from 2014. Faces and all. I'm leaning towards calling fake, it would be very lazy of Lego to release these.

great MOC, I especially like the ocean solution, and how you included trans red elements to represent corals(?) I guess I'd have one question, as I'm building a smaller diorama with many flat surfaces like yours, do the edges curl up on yours too a little bit? (Because mine does, and I'm not sure how to prevent that.)

My thoughts exactly, I am not sure this topic is different enough to warrant a separate thread..

This seems to be a really long time project, but it's great that you're so close to finishing it now :) This DS is just so much more amazing to me than the one they just rehashed.

The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)
brobert replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I don't know how much sense a Landspeeder would make, since they just released a separate set from that material. The previous one with the Cantina just went out from almost all retailers, I don't think they would've rushed to release a new one with minor changes just to have it trumped with a UCS set the same year.. -
it's also in TRU, at least in Europe, but that's another topic again... This is not an info. This is a badly photoshopped pic.Likely about some cheap knockoff since it has Space Battle on it... :D

Well that's not so much before the act...I've read on makingstarwars that this years Force Friday might be on the 1st of September.
-
When did the TFA set pictures surface? I wasn't really following this stuff that closely back then.
-
That's why I didn't go out and write 1:1, but close. But yeah that's a fair point.

Oh wow, I stand corrected...I can't believe I haven't noticed this since they stand on my shelf behind each other for 2 weeks now XD
