I wasn't too fond of it either based on pictures, I only bought it because I could snag it at a pretty good price at 20% discount, but I regret nothing. IRL it's pretty good looking. Yeah the lower part is kind of chunky, but based on LEGO priorities, it's probably the best they could come up with.

So, the A-wing is back in stock, so I ordered some parts too, this will only be the base and the ground level. I've put my order in, and in 2 minutes got a mail that the 16x16 plates in the middle are not available at the moment... I've called them, and got the same plates in a different color in 5 minutes. Customer service FTW! Now I just have to see how long it takes this way...

Yeah that's what I did, like I mentioned I wanted to buy the A-wing anyway, so that's coming with it, but it's not everything for the diorama, if I ordered everything to this, probably with that alone I would be above the free shipping limit...

By the way, for the trans blue, if anyone has any idea on how to include those to retain the current shape I would be really thankful. I've only found 2x2 trans blue slopes, but if I included a couple in the walls, it would f*k up the whole angle....

Well, I figured I'd try it, I'm a bit afraid to get into bricklinking, big companies are easier to hold accountable then random people around the world. But the other fear is if I try it once, and I have a good experience, it will be a slippery slope...just when I discovered ebay and ordered some random shit every 2-3 days just because it's cheap :D I'll have a go with pick a brick for now, for some parts I'm going to require discontinued plant parts e.g anyway, so maybe then. Or Lego makes it easy for me and I'll never want to order from them again. Really the only positive experience I have with S@H is the customer support guys, but once you're in contact with them you're pissed off anyway... I wanted to order these parts months ago, and then the webshop wasn't working, so I called them and they said I should order on the phone. Then I had to send them the part list in email...and then in the reply they stated that well according to them these will cost 20 bucks more than what I saw in the webshop. I wrote them an email where I basically told them to go f....themselves, this is not realistic, then a day later came the reply that they're so sorry of course they will ship it for the same price as seen online. But at the time I was really pissed at them so I just told them to cancel the order. Then they even called me a couple of times, but I didn't answer... I've spent too much time trying to make it work with them, but at the end with the Yellow submarine set I gave in because it was only available on S@H until just now. That was at least a months after all this, and I still couldn't order online, so I had to do it on the phone again. This time it worked out but it took forever. So yeah, I might be an idiot for trying this with them, but I'm an optimist I guess :D I think I'll order next week, the A-wing is in backorder anyway what I also want, I'll definitely keep you guys posted.

So, I finalized the diorama (sort of), the trees might be a little taller and more greens are coming, but this is pretty much how it will look like on the shelf. @Cwetqo as you can see the shuttle fits, I may have to fiddle with the branches a little but I think it will look good. Mecabricks link.

Yes, I was just checking out this exact screencap, I'll try to include some. Unfortunately I won't be able to build the whole thing, but I am planning to extend it, next to the wings of the TIE on the outside I still have some space. Yeah, the cable is a priority, after I checked the screenshots, there was no question there was going to be something like it. Thanks all for the feedback, you came up with good points that I also thought of, and will definitely include sometime, but like I said, priority is on the Endor landing that I'm planning for a while. But since all is silent on the work front, I'll probably have time to spare nowadays...

Hi All, Since my shelf with the FO TIE is unbearably airy, I've decided to have a go at a sort of docking bay like seen in the movie briefly on the Finalizer. While that actually should be a conveyor belt, this is a much simpler design, so while it's not an architectural masterpiece, I think it will do the job. It only exists in digital form yet on Mecabricks, as my priority will be to build the Endor diorama I'm planning. Here's a link to the model if anyone would like to take a closer look, obviously it's WIP, I would take any criticism and suggestion thankfully. And I'm not gonna say 75159, I've made up my mind about that a long time ago :P But yes, I agree, it's supposed to be a UCS set, and you'd have to spend potentially at least 100$ more to make it look like it's supposed to. It's an absolute disgrace, we all seem to be in agreement about that.

I bought it at around 45$ equivalent, and I have absolutely no regrets. I'd say go for it. I know many say it's too tall, but I personally don't think so, I have it next to the hovertank on display, and it looks great. I don't think the legs are too skinny at all. The real deal has really skinny legs, as it should, that's why we call it chicken walker after all :)

Well I didn't want to point fingers... Yeah, I haven't seen the Hoth set on display yet, but I can imagine how puny it must look like. I prefer my own diorama of 3 Hoth sets, it's not much but perfect for my space. I am e.g. the furthest thing from a long time AFOL but I wouldn't want a snowspeeder, nor a Falcon, I know it's kind of a heresy, but I've had enough Falcon hype last year in 2015 with TFA, I'd much rather have a set that wasn't released a 1000 times in different sizes and variations. That said, that's the most likely because of the anniversary, and the fact that it is the single most iconic ship in the saga. And honestly, I think @VaderFan2187 is right, they are totally trolling us.

I think making another fin mold for this wouldn't have been viable for TLG, this is a fairly specialized part that likely couldn't have been used for other purposes easily. I still like this better than brick built fins I've seen this far, even in the wrong angle it's more faithful than a chunky build one.

Which is interesting, because most of the people who bash TLG for Insult on Hoth, are somehow totally OK with them re-releasing the DS.... Probably because the Hoth set is basically a shitty attempt at a diorama-like set, while e.g. the Ewok village looks like one cohesive model (Although technically not UCS), and so does the DS technically, but in my eyes that doesn't save it from the sins of being a rehash and having absolutely no display value in an AFOL shrine.
