A mini-doll rant by a mini-doll fan
eve nightfall replied to Soupperson1's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My daughter (getting 5 in some weeks) plays with Duplo (lot of sets with many figures) and started to play now with her first Lego Set the "Belle castle" (I think you put them to Friends?). She also has the Creator Lighthouse and the Minifigures from Series 15 and 16 and the Disney set. She is a role player since she is 1,5 year old and we started to build Duplo sceneries for her) From this Point of view I see that it is very important for her to have FEMALE and MALE figures to play with. She needs both of them to play family themes, friend themes (she plays with boys in kindergarten, why not at home with Lego), the princess need princes to play and for dancing. Also when she plays movies she knows (most of them are Disney, a small number because we have no TV and only watch DVD) or books she needs male figures. I don't understand why the friend series are so "small minded" and have such little character number. It is kind of weird that the Duplo figures are so "open" (in age and character) in every direction and then at age 5/6 it comes to just this girly friends? Where are the grandparents, the brothers and sisters? The friends to join the fun in the theme parks? I didn't like the series till now ... when it comes to the point to create a colorful world with lots of different stones (even my husband likes them) and animals. I don't know why Lego doesn't build more animals. Duplo is so full of them and then suddenly only horses, some cats and dogs, parrots and owls. Weird animals with hairclips? This is were Lego loses children to other brands (like Playmobil or Schleich). Some don't want to build them but need them in Minifigurescale to fit into the role play scenery they did build. There are so many different dragons (I like them) but no sheep, pig, goose, goat or eagle, elefant, zebra or lion. I think the minifigures with animals are so much wanted because of them. I am buying elves, friends, princess sets now (because I don't want to pay secondary market prices in 2-3 years when she wants some special ones or disney themes she is to young now for) because of the nice, different colors not the characters (except for the Disney princess). She loves to mix all the pieces and creates new minifigures, new characters. I think she would love to have just a box full of different torsos, heads and hair and create new ones. As far as I have seen she prefers the Belle and the Beast minidolls becaus they don't break so easily like the minifigures. Perhaps that is the reason they made them less moveable. The colors my daughter likes are depending on what she is building. All shades of blue are needed for an underwater or ice palace, another castle is more pink because of the extra parts she got from the princess sets. She doesn't prefer them because they are pink but because of their shape. The balconies and towers etc. could be grey or brown and she would use them to build, too. I used lot of the new "wooden" looking blocks to create the upper part of a Rapunzel tower (Duplo Moc). And I think it would be better to make such sets not that much gendered (castle for boys dark grey, for girls pink). Sometimes I think that the creators of toys underestimate the fantasy of children. I think there should be a series like the buildings of creator (Livinghouse, Lighthouse, Bike- and Toyshop and all the other stores) with more minifigures and animals and more daylife themes. School, zoo, hospital, doctor (dentist, etc), circus, theatre, cinema, dancing, nature places, ... Poor boys who only can be pirates, knights and superheros. Poor girls who can only go shopping, riding and be a superstar. Where are the social jobs, the doctors, the nurses, the scientists and creators of toys? I think the friends series could do much better for boys if there were more of them in it (the rollercoaster etc. would have been an great intro for the friends of the girls). -
Which forum does my MOC/topic belong in?
eve nightfall replied to Stormbringer's topic in Forum Information and Help
I want to show some MOCs I did with DUPLO for/with my kids like this: Mary Poppins, Cherry Tree Lane 17 Do you think it is kind of interesting for the community? I thought it would be great to see some ideas and buidlings. Lot of parents need inspiration to build with their children ;-) to raise up the new generation! I thought it could fit in the Special Themes Subforum. Would it be better to make just one general thread like [MOC] [DUPLO] - Show your big scale buildings Or better a [MOC] [DUPLO] - Mary Poppins (I have build more than the house) And then the other themes I did like Lighthouse, Theatrestage, Castle, etc. Or shall I keep quiet and don't show them at EB -
At the moment I can't imagine to join a guild. I have two little children to care for and I think I have not enough time at the moment. But give me some time, perhaps in some years I can join. If I had found that hobby years ago perhaps I would have done so, but I just started with Lego (most of the time I am a Duplo builder ;-)) Never the less I will enjoy your buildings and stories!

I have bought the castle in the VIP pre sale because I was afraid that it is sold out in Austria very quickly. But I have to wait till christmas to build it (it is my personal present) and I am really looking foreward to it! I don't think that there will come any other Disney princess related castles. This one is called "Cinderella" castle but I think that is not such a good "title" for it. It is THE Disney Castle showed in every Disney movie. Tinkerbell is the "fairy dust" that puts the magic into each movie and you can see her fly around the castle in the intro. I think it is a great cooperation with Disney and I am looking foreward to other new themes made by Lego but I think this Dimension is one of a kind thing.

Thank you so much for the links! I started to read through EB and it needs a lot of time and there is so much to learn! But I really like this community so far and I think it is great to look at all the creations!

Awsome! The bulding, and the landscape! I really like it! Which leafes did you use behind the grass? I am quite a newbie (and don't recognize the origin of the parts), but I love those!

Hi, I really like your MOC and the pictures are great!l I love the glass mosaic window very much! For me it feels a little bit like a building from my beloved Computer game "Baldurs gate" ... I am just at the beginning buidling MOCs myself but I see there is so much to learn!

I love this building so much! I hope someday I find time to do something inspired by this! I really like the curvy walls and glass front. In Vienna we have building called the "Butterflyhouse" I was thinking of, after seeing your MOC. So I would put some stairs and a gallery, to walk on, into it and some butterflies to look at. The colorful inside is great and the lightning is amazing!

Thank you for the great list and the pictures! I will follow you! I am addicted to hairpieces, too. Not only in the Lego world ;-) My most wanted ones are long haired, braided ones or buns, also multi colored (blue I love very much). I am growing my hair very long and I have been a collector of hairtoys (Clips, Sticks, Forks etc) for several years now. So collecting Lego hairpieces is some link between my hobbies. I am not sure, but I can't see the hair from Belle from the Disney princess series on your list. But it could be that I missed it because of a different face.

I love your ideas! I hope to see some of them made by TLG someday! The evil queen is perfect ... That would be a great series with Rumpelstilzchen, Mr. Gold, Madhatter etc.! But I really like every Figure you made! You do really great drawings! Which programm do you use? Could be that I overread this information ... I want to draw some by myself for some ideas I have but at the moment I just draw on paper.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
eve nightfall replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
The anniversary could also be the perfect time for a "Lego Store" Modular Building. There is a great one at Lego ideas at the moment! But then it wouldn't be chosen. What a about a Museum with place for an "Anniversary Room" and Microscaled Buildings? That would sound really great, after Brick Bank ... Brickmuseum. I also like the idea of a hospital but I think that would be too big. Perhaps a combination like a private praxis of a dentist and a doctor and some therapeuts (the couch for a psychiatric couch would be great) also a gym for physio therapy and put them in a historical building. I would love to see some "Jugendstil" (art deco) we have lot of them on Vienna. -
Iria's MODs & MOCs of Elvendale
eve nightfall replied to Iria's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I absolutely love your creations with the elven theme! I have to visit your thread often to get some inspirations. Love your trees and all the flowers! The skyship looks great although I think the "white parts of the Balloon from the friends series would fit a little bit better. But it would need 2 sets of it plus the Ninjago set ... I am tempted ... Perhaps in a big sale ...- 27 replies

[MOC] Azari's garden and cottage
eve nightfall replied to Marishka's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I like your elven MOC very much! I haven't built one of the elven sets yet but I have some bought for the future (my daughter is just getting 5 in some weeks and it it is a little bit too early for her, she now starts with the Disney themes). I really love the nature with the leaves and all that green! Hope to see more soon! -
I found most of the minifigures I want in 2 different "Müller" Stores in Vienna (but not all of them had some already) On monday I bought most of them but I had to stop to "search" because I had an appointment. Today I was in another shop but it seems somebody else is looking for the same minifigs like me because none of my last missing ones were there (I haven't d found a baby and no dog, but I want at least two of them) and I want a second devil boy ... the costume is so great! My favorites from the ones I already have are the Hiker, the devil boy, the penguin boy and the explorer with the little penguin. The mariachi is so funny and the rogue is also great. My daughter loves the snow queen (the fabric looks really great this time, although I am not a fan of it) It was not so hard to feel the differences between the figures. Just some tricky ones. I hope I don't find cut opened and sealed again bags this time. I do not understand why somebody does such a thing! I had some in the Disney series and was surprised that this is possible. But the employes in the stores don't think about such things when they are not interested in Lego themes.

What a great MOC! I love the structure of the roofs and the walls! You did a really nice job! Some nice animals would have been nice but I know that there not as many availible as some of us wish to be! Good luck for the contes!
-
I really like the building and the facade has amazing details! Also the mini models are great! Just missing some pictures with the first buyers in the shop!
-
I absolutely love your Disney Store! I feel inspired to do something like that! It would be great do do even more themed rooms. Lots of nice movies are coming up! Tinkerbell could visit and there could be a room where the girls could dress up like a fairy and put on the wings! Or a Rapunzel Tower on the playground, or some bows for beeing "Merida". For the boys some Peter Pan swords or some "Cars". Your pictures are done really nice!

Hi there! My name is Eve, I am a 36 year old Lego Fan living im Austria / Europe. I have two children, my daughter is getting 5 in some weeks and my son is 1,5 year old. I never had Lego as a child by myself but started to play with my niece and nephew when they were little. When my daughter was about 10 month old we started to build Lego Duplo with her and I started to collect animals and vehicles. We did build big buildings for her (my husband has a lot of Lego experience from his childhood) that she could play stories. When she grew older she started to be interested in the princess theme (I tried to stop her but she loves it) and we collected quite a big amount of series (and there are some great parts in the princess sets). Most of the time we did our own creations and I hope you are interested in some DUPLO MOCs. I started to collect Lego creator, princess, friends, elves and minifigures (started with series 15) themes because I don't want to pay the high second market prices. If my daughter wants some special themes in the near futur she can get it without paying enormous price. If she doesn't like them anymore I can built with them by myself or I can sell them someday. Because of my little son we didn't really start with Lego but I can't wait for it. I have some great ideas I want to create. That is the reason I did join this forum. I hope to learn a lot from you and I hope I can present you some ideas in the next years. I have some themes I never saw in Lego and I want to build them as soon as possible. First you can have a look at the DUPLO MOCs, if I find a section for it.
