  1. Hello everybody, this is my first alternate model of the official Creator set 31070. Inspired by Nathanael and amaman the target was a classic Porsche look. I used only parts of the official set. But since there are many slopes, curved slopes, tiles, snot parts and some useful Technic parts the set seems perfect for creating alternate models. The doors and the bonnet open. But the doors were slightly tricky to build as there aren't any of those hinge plates that are usually used for opening doors. The roof wasn't that easy either. But I am fairly pleased with the overall look and the sturdiness of the model. Thanks for watching!
  2. Thanks to everyone involved in creating this new subtheme! It makes this forum even better (which is hardly possible). Hopefully some great scale modeling builders out there will join us and share there models and ideas.
  3. I would love to see more iconic cars: Aston Martin DB5, Porsche 911, Mercedes 300 SL, Ferrari Testarossa just to name a few.
  4. Supported! The sides look a bit messy especially the sections near the fenders. But all in all you did a really great job! The overall shape is awesome and you managed to incorporate many lovely details!
  5. Hi everybody, I am happy to present my second alternate model of the 5767 Creator set. Nathanael's incredible alternate F1 car built from the parts of the 10248 F40 inspired me to create an alternate model myself. There are not too many features: just opening doors, opening bonnet and replacable engine cover. I hope you like it. As usual: Rates, critiques and comments are highly appreciated. 6. Absolutely fantastic! I love how you managed to get all these little details right. That makes your moc instantly recognizable.
  7. Hi everybody, here are some pictures of micro creations and similar stuff I have built in the last week. Most of them are entries to the Rebrick microbuild contest. I had to come pretty much out of my comfort zone as I usually build just cars. It was great fun and I hope you like it. 8. Congrats for being blogged at TLCB!
  9. Brilliant recreation of a brilliant car! I cannot say what I love most: the instantly recongizable shape, the lovely details or the Creator Expert style of the model. Great use of the rubber band by the way. Do you think of uploading it on the Lego ideas site? If you do I will be one of your first supporters. The only little thing I (as a purist) do not like is the slightly illegal connection on the A-pillar.
  10. Sorry, but somehow i just don't get it: Could you please give an example of any Technic-like function in any Model Team set?(Apart from steering)
  11. There are Model Team sets which do not have any function apart from steering: 2556, 5540, 5533, 5541 (please correct me if I am wrong). There are Creator sets which have more functions (some of them really unique) than just steering: 6753, 5767, 4993, 5893 to name just a few. So the argument of Creator models lacking functions does not stand. Correction: 4993 does not have steering but a convertible top.
  12. Right. But I think it's not just the steering either. It's more the scale, the deails, the functions and the fact that's a vehicle that makes it Model Team style. If the working steering was the one distinctive feature to make a model a Model Team model it would have been an essential criterion for the past Model Team contest. I regard the Creator Expert theme as the new Model Team theme of "modern" Lego: studless and using many curved elements that were not available during the great Model team era. So Edwin's suggestion to create a new theme on EB forums for scale modeling seems to be the right way for me.
  13. That is a great idea! Many thanks! I just feel we should make the best builders post in the best forum. That might be the right way.
  14. You are right. All Creator Expert sets and most of these mocs sacrifice the steering functions for looks. But apart from that many of the models we are talking about have at least the same some even more functions like Model Team sets: opening doors, opening engine cover, removable parts etc.
  15. Hi everyone, I am fairly new to this forum as a member but have been reading here from time to time for a couple of years now. So I'm sorry if this has been asked before and I did not see it: Whenever a great Model Team moc is removed from the Technic to the the Special Themes/Creator forum I wonder where the thin line is between Model Team and Creator Expert style. Recently most Model Team models have been removed. That's the reason why we hardly see any here in the Technic forum. But some like Edwin's great ships are not removed although there is hardly any difference in building style considering the techniques used. There was even a Model Team contest two years ago. Looking back at the entries all of them could have been removed to the Special Themes/Creator forum. So why do some mocs get removed and some don't? I am asking not to cause any trouble. There are great and very talented Model Team builders out there but most of the best of these don't post here on EB. That's a shame for EB which I consider the best forum for our hobby. Imho the Technic forum seems to be the most suitable forum here on EB for these kinds of models. All of the Model Team mocs are vehicles just like most of the Technic mocs. Even if the vast majority of members reading the Technic forum are there for Technic mocs I feel that there still could be room for some Model Team models popping out from time to time here. Looking forward to your opinions! Thanks for reading!
  16. According to a Swiss online shop the set contains 773 parts and costs 59.90 CHF. That is about 55€. Decent price imho.
  17. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
  18. @Techniccrack: That is a sweet kind of waiting! :-) Congrats to you!
  19. My entry reached the semi-final which I never dreamed of since the Porsche 911 was my first Technic model ever. Usually I do Model team/Creator stuff. So I am fine with not having won. But reading some comments here I really wonder: What was the point in letting the "losers" wait that long? The decisions seem to have been made by 18th of August. That's three weeks! Anyone any idea? Thanks!
  20. Hi Peteris, another great alternate build by you. I love how the lines rise from the front to the rear. Hope to see more from you soon. Slightly OT but when I first saw the pictures of the 10252 Beetle I thought: They would have rather turned your Beetle into an official set!
  21. Congratulation to all winners! Excluding myself :-)
  22. That's a really cute car nearly perfectly built. The best part imho is the rear, especially very skilled solution for the c-pillars. The overall shape is well executed and the car is instantly recognizable. It looks better than the official VW Beetle and would nicely fit on my shelf next to the Mini, Beetle, F40 and Bulli. So you've got my support! Just some thoughts: Is there a working steering? It is not mentioned in the list of features but on some pictures the wheels are turned. It's a little irritating to me. The wedge plates used for the b-pillars does not look too well imho. Maybe curved slopes would look better (compare the 10252 Beetle). When you build the Fiat 500 with real bricks you might try to use some canvas to create an opening roof. I really wish that your model gets to 10000 supports and we can see this masterpiece for sale someday! By the way: Great presentation as well!
  23. I don't think anyone will like the official version more than the original version submitted by Carl. But looking at Carl's building techniques (and at those used by many other great builders) you have to say that official Lego models are much more sturdy. So it is no surprise that the steering seems to be missing in the official set.
  24. This looks awesome! Great bodywork and full of functions considering the small scale. I really like the compactness of this little beauty. Only the wheels look just a fraction to small to me. Also I am not a fan of the all black colour choice. I wonder how this beast would look like using other colours. But don't get me wrong: This is still a masterpiece!
