I really love your sleek race cars. This one is another example of how some clever techniques and part usage can achieve a lovely model without having to use too many bricks. I also like that you managed to add working steering. Would you mind giving some insight into the steering mechanism? Thanks for sharing!

I am not a fan of brick built windscreens. But that is just personal preference. Apart from that your model is really mind-blowing! So many details, so close to the original car at this scale! Even without those few decals it looks fantastic! Could you give an impression of how sturdy it is? Thanks for sharing!

I really like your Chevys. Not quite as good as your VW Karmann Ghia but still nice models. I also like that you chose to build several alternative versions. They do look a bit boxy indeed but I know just how hard it is to get the curves right at that scale. Is it a real or just a fake steering? By the way: Congrats for being blogged by TLCB!

[MOC] Ariane 6 rocket
brickphisto replied to Alex Pendable's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi, welcome to Eurobricks! Your model is really a thing of beauty! What scale is it? The same as 21309? I wish you all the best for your project on ideas although I don't think TLC will produce another rocket. But you just never know... -

The sloped 1x2 tiles are not new. Their numbers on bricklink are 29119 and 29120. -
Great to see Model Team style is allowed! This promises to be great fun and result in some very varied entries.

Classic Porsche 911
brickphisto replied to brickphisto's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thank you very much! To be honest: the construction of the "umbrella" roof to create an angle was pretty much straightforward. And you are correct about my inspiration for the trunk lid. But the toughest problems were to get the curved rear fenders right and to connect the roof with the rear. -

I was asked to give some insight into the internal construction, so here we go. The roof is connected by one technic axle to the body of the car. The 1x10 curved slopes are connected to the rear of the car by one stud each: http://Porsche 911 internal construction 1 by klingen_guru, auf Flickr http://Porsche 911 internal construction 2 by klingen_guru, auf Flickr http://Porsche 911 internal construction 3 by klingen_guru, auf Flickr The last two pictures show how the rear seats and rear fenders are constructed and connected: http://Porsche 911 internal construction 4 by klingen_guru, auf Flickr http://Porsche 911 internal construction 5 by klingen_guru, auf Flickr -

Yes, I can use the 10258 London bus tyres. They are quite expensive at the moment but I do own this set so I can replace the tyres. That sounds very promising! It will take about three more weeks but that is definetly extra motivation to finish the job! Hopefully I will be able to share better pictures then. Thank you very much! The scale is approximately 1/16. -

@proran: Thank you very much for your comment! I will have some time to share pictures of the internal construction at the weekend. The building of the complete rear of the car was very painful. It is very complex and took me ages to construct. But I am very pleased with the outcome especially as it is quite sturdy and there are no parts hanging somewhere loosely (apart from the a-pillars). I agree with you on the indicator lights but there was just no other solution that came to my mind. Scale Modeling Building Help
brickphisto replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That is exactly how I do it. There are several advantages of this approach: 1. You do not need to search that long for certain parts when the colour does not matter. 2. You are more likely to have all parts available. 3. It makes it much easier to rebuild your model using a digital design program such as LDD because you can see more clearly which parts you used for the real model. 4. You feel your model looks much better after eventually finishing it using the right colours because you just saw it built in various colours for hours and hours and hours... -
Hi everybody, I have been working on a classic Porsche 911 for quite a while now. It is not 100% finished yet but I already showed it at a local exhibition last weekend. There is still some work to do (A-pillars, front hood, underbody, interior). I would kindly ask for feedback especially suggestions for improvements. http://Porsche 911 by klingen_guru, auf Flickr Many thanks in advance!

I like your build: nice curves, very clean look, steering and some little details. Great job!

You captured the shape of the car really well. But to add all the functions into a model of this scale is an outstanding achievement. Welcome to Eurobricks! Hope to see more from you soon.- 21 replies

[MOC] 30 SCANIA 113M 320
brickphisto replied to andrepinto's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Trucks are not my favourite subject but I must say your creations are absouletly stunning! Considering the recent discussion about what belongs in this forum and what does not this is a prime example of what this forum was made for. -
That the fire truck belongs in this forum goes without saying. I don't think these Porsche models belong here. Don't get me wrong, they are great little builds and certainly it cannot get better than that in this scale. But still they lack the details you would expect from a scale model. Furthermore as some of the others said: it takes much more time to create a more detailed model in a larger scale. If 6 wide vehicles for example find their home here there might be an abundance of these type of models. I'd rather like to see one medium or large scale model once a week than a few 6 wide cars each day. I second the idea of an own thread or a subforum here. On the other hand I don't think that this forum should be meant only for a very small group of elite scale model builders and their "admirers". If a newcomer posts a medium scale model that isn't a scale model by general opinion we won't encourage him by moving it to another forum. Comments and advice on how to improve the model would help much more. To answer some of Milan's questions: Yes, functions liike opening doors for example should be required. Yes, there should be some level of detail but we should not be to strict. It is hard to draw a clear line there. Maybe at least Creator Expert style should be the target for this forum. The most important criterion is that you can recognise the model instantly.

I know I am wrong but I wish I was not: TC12 can only be about scale modeling to celebrate the new subforum. -

Supported! The cars looks great. The best looking part is the front. Especially I like the use of these curved slopes. -
