Personally, I‘d prefer such a series to be based on the MCU rather than the comics, but to each their own I guess the MCU must be a bit of a two-edged sword for the comics in that regard: it helps characters who nobody cared about before to get mainstream attention and keeps the brand alive (just look at the decline of comic sales over the years, it‘s scary), but it also steals the comics’ spotlight when it comes to merch. Most people who are into the MCU have never touched a Marvel comic in their life (myself included), so from a business side it makes sense to favour the film, TV or video game adaptations over the source material

I think the HP sets were always designed to appeal to everyone because it was never a secret that the source material was devoured by girls and boys (and adults) alike, which doesn‘t happen that often in pop culture. Even major franchises like Star Wars or Marvel don‘t have an even split between genders in their fandoms, it‘s more around 60:40% I think I mean, just take a look at the recently mentioned sets with the cardboard backgrounds from 2001 and tell me with a straight face that these were designed to exclusively appeal to boys

Interesting So there’s 15 possible combinations, leaving a lot of room for upcoming power ups I guess the Mario figure itself can be updated via Bluetooth in order to accomodate for future expansions, which would be necessary anyway, unless they want us to buy a new version of the starter pack for every wave I still want them to introduce Luigi next year though

@Roebuck hasn‘t commented on the CMF series yet, has he? Because there’s something specific missing from this series compared to the first one that he will surely express his opinion on It’s also the only thing that bothers me a bit about the series as a whole

Sure, it’s 4 for each individual product, but for the Marvel and Star Wars ones, you need 6 copies each if you want to have all motives (the large 4th one requiring 3 copies)

At least the CMF series are usually quite easy to complete by buying a whole box Compare that to most blind bags collectables, which you’re not being guaranteed a whole set of even when buying multiple boxes. The CMF blind bags are a bit of an evil practice, but not as demonic as most competitors in the collectable market (ask people who collect trading cards )

I may be misremembering things, but I don’t think it was the inclusion of James and Lilly that was thought to be ludricous, it was the rumoured series as a whole with its laser-focus on PS and the amount of background characters included

And don‘t forget that they now reuse CMF prints in regular sets, so we can expect the new face prints for the trio to show up in next year‘s DH sets
