  1. Not to veer too far into off-topic territory, but comparing CC to TLJ is pretty unfair in my eyes. For instance, the Holdo maneuver doesn’t contradict anything that happened before and the plothole it creates is explained away in TROS. In comparison, there’s NO handwaving of anything that happens during CC. The way timeturners work not only breaks canon, it shatters it The other points are debatable IMO Anyway, I hope FB3 is succesful enough so that the other planned sequels aren’t scrapped. As long as FB is around, we’re safe from that abomination While I’m heavily opposed to a Hogwarts Express D2C set, that would be a neat inclusion
  2. That’s the Rainbow Bridge though, not the Bifrost I’d buy that in an instant though!
  3. Maybe they're banking on people who just read the title "Harry Potter" and go see it, without realising what CC is about Hardcore fans are definitely aware, but the same cannot be said about general audiences I certainly hope so. Displaying sets based on crummy fanfiction next to the real deal just feels wrong
  4. It really is just baffling. With most late sequels, the filmmakers don't know beforehand how the fandom will react to them. In this case, they know VERY well how universally hated CC is. If not, how could they possibly miss or ignore that? Its only saving grace is the play itself (i.e. the acting and the production design). I don't usually judge something without having seen or read it, but this is a rare exception Dominic Noble's review was enough to convince me Depends on how well the "new style" sells Most of us don't seem to appreciate it, but we're not the core target audience
  5. Not even an hour after typing that I've just read that WB apparently are still flirting with the idea of an adaptation of CC Please let the theme die before we get to that point, should it ever happen. It truly is a curse
  6. A proper Leviathan would be a dream come true
  7. Funny how the Marvel and Star Wars threads are buzzing with excitement, while the Harry Potter thread is in a state of constant dread... How did we end up in the Bizarro world? Are we sure someone didn't mess around with a timeturner (the CC variety)?
  8. Maybe the same day when AT&T starts treating DC the same as Disney treats Marvel Seriously though, what would the DC equivalent to the upcoming Marvel wave even be? To me, that'd be more sets based on the Burton/Schumacher and Nolan films. The DCEU (sadly) isn't well done enough in my eyes to really deserve that
  9. Don't get me wrong, this wave sounds AMAZING, but the three smallest sets don't seem to offer much in terms of minifig potential, except for new variants of some of the main characters. For instance, I would've loved to see Mo-cap Mysterio, but the chances of that happening in a 4+ set are next to zero. I admit that's pretty nitpicky though
  10. I wonder if the set's based on BP, IW, or Endgame... And which minifigs could be included Very exciting news indeed!
  11. Have the prophecies come true? A legacy wave? Someone pinch me!
  12. I agree, that part bothered me too, but I’m not sure how they could get that across in the film without a clunky exposition dump. Maybe as a flashback, but that would’ve required four new actors to be cast (which did end up happening in OotP, but for a larger flashback scene). I think most non-readers figured it out in later instalments. With Voldy always referring to Pettigrew as Wormtail, it’s rather simple to connect the dots I wouldn’t mind that My only issue with (semi-) random student minifigs is that they may take spots that could go to more interesting minifigs, which wouldn’t be the case here
  13. Cuarón was the film’s director, not its writer Isn’t that a tiny bit extreme? He replaced a random student with another random student, hardly a crime So basically a remake of the 2011 set? I wouldn’t mind that if it includes Narcissa like the old one did
  14. If there really is just one Disney+ MCU set this year, I’m not sure what WV’s chances are. At face value, TF&TWS seems like the safest bet among the three live-action shows this year, but then again, TLG don’t always do things by the book Of course I’d rather they sacrifice two or three Spidey and/or 4+ sets to give every of the upcoming shows at least one set, but TLG seem to be a bit hesitant when it comes to streaming shows And after seeing the finale, CMF minifigs won’t do any more since you could easily fill half the roster with characters from WV. In any case, this at least hasn’t been the last we’ve seen of any of the core cast, so each of them could theoretically show up in sets based on future films and shows, but that will probably take quite a long time Wanda of course will appear in DSITMOM and Monica is set up to make an appearance in Captain Marvel 2 and/or Secret Invasion, but we have no currently no idea when exactly we’ll see any of the other characters again. Hopefully before the phase 4 finale, whatever that will be
  15. Salty honey, my favourite! I love the Pooh set so much, it very nearly makes up for the set-up-to-be-disappointing August wave 100$ may seem steep, but the PPR is good and you can’t beat 5 one-off moulds in a single set
  16. Sacrifices need to be made, and 5 new moulds in a single set is already very generous
  17. You mean like a Batcave? Because the two Batvehicles in that film are already on shelves Or a Batski based on Batman Returns, including a Penguin minifig
  18. Those maniacs actually did it I think I have a new favourite Ideas set
  19. I wonder why they still refuse to reuse that awesome balloon piece introduced in CMF S18 Don't get me wrong, the brick-built version looks nice too, but nowhere near as good IMO. The 'hunny' jar on the other hand is excellent, I hope the set includes at least two or three of those
  20. Not officially, but a leaker on IG claims there’s going to be 5. There’s no way Eeyore has been realised as a minifig (or so I hope), so I guess he’s been replaced by Christopher Robin I know the scaling would be WAY off, but when has that ever stopped them
  21. Ok, the Goyle minifig ties with the fleshie-2002 goblins in my ranking, forgot about those uncanny-looking creatures The mould itself isn’t even half bad, but by 2011 standards they definitely should have printed the eyes. However, I’m with @Roonil Wazlib regarding the statue, which was a decent addition to the 2010 castle. The chestplate should’ve been metallic instead of pearl silver, but other than that, it looks close enough to its movie counterpart. At least it’s better than the weird 2007 version that featured legs made of lightsaber hilts that had a rune tile attached to them (what was that about? Was it Agatha all along?!) That’s definitely something I’d like to see them revisit for a potential Battle of Hogwarts set The Piertotum Locomotor scene happens to be one of my favourites in the whole franchise
  22. I think it was meant to be released anyway So far, we’ve only had one example where a wave was conceived to replace a postponed movie-based one; the 2015 JL sets. In that case, they had a lot more time to prepare it. Moreover, a comic-inspired JL wave and BvS had a lot more in common than a singular 4+ set based on the 60s show and a wave based on The Batman, so this would hardly serve as a replacement
  23. That was probably just an accident To be fair, the 2011 version wasn’t that much better actually. It’s my least favourite minifig among the 2010-2011 range
  24. MY EYES, IT BURNS! Thanks for reminding us of that monstrosity What on Earth were they thinking There, FTFY It was originally from the GoF sets in 2005, but then they reused it in 2007 for whatever reason
