Of course the release schedule might not necessarily reflect the order in which the sets were confirmed, but I think the Seinfeld and Home Alone Ideas sets should still be revealed (and released) before this one does The Seinfeld set already had a faceprint leaked, so its reveal can’t be thar far away

I like what I’m seeing here Blue Toad is a nice addition, and Sumo Bro + Raznor are both excellent mini-boss choices, especially since they’re both from Super Mario World (which is still my favourite classic Mario game)

I understand the frustration, but retroactively disliking something never has made much sense to me (like starting to dislike a film you’ve previously liked just because its sequel wasn’t up to par) Sure, it sounds like the 2018-2020 line won’t ever be “completed”, but as long as we get at least one set for each DH instalment plus a couple of slots in the 3rd CMF series (if there is one), I’m satisfied In retrospect, expecting a full DH wave this year may have been a bit silly anyway. OotP and HBP only got two sets each, so I’m not sure why I anticipated a wave of 5-6 sets dedicated to DH in the first place

Well, we don’t know why that specific character comes with a baby crocodile, so maybe it’s special in a way (unusual colouration, three eyes, two heads or something odd like that ). Loki comes with Throg for crying out loud, so anything’s possible

Maybe we should look at it from another perspective: instead of thinking about which themes returned after a hiatus, we should check out which themes didn’t The only ones I can think of are Spider-man (Raimi trilogy) and Angry Birds. The latter sold pretty terribly from what I’ve heard and the former probably didn’t do extremely well either. So unless the 2008-9 range was a huge flop, which it surely wasn’t, there’s no way it won’t make a comeback

Exactly. Why are certain sexual identities/orientations deemed “political” while others aren’t? It’s the same tired argument every time a minority is represented somewhere. You could just as easily argue that heterosexuals being represented is political, with the goal of preserving the status quo and promoting heteronormativity So either all of them are political, or none are. You can’t have your cake and eat it too

The sets are well worth it in my opinion (especially the one with the buildable minions), but I get why most AFOLs don’t care about the theme Illumination simply killed the franchise for almost everyone outside the core audience with its extremely aggressive marketing, shoving the Minions into our faces 24/7. The cringey, embarassing Facebook “memes” certainly didn’t help their reputation either I still remember the first two movies being pretty well-liked, before the marketing department went of the deep end

I really hope that’s what they end up doing Something like this would be great: A remake of the temple escape set at a smaller scale (the old one was a cool playset, but pretty tricky to display) with the idol and Belloq A set with the Ark included (so either a remake of the well of souls or the truck chase sets) A set based on the temple of doom with the Sankara stones and Mola Ram A set based on the Grail Temple with the grail and Donovan A set with the Crystal Skull and Spalko 3-4 sets based on the new film Basically, what I want most is for all McGuffins and main villains to be represented The 2008-09 sets and moulds (fedora, whip, idol, skull, Siafu ant, Mola Ram’s headdress) all hold up very well and so the latter should definitely return, but the faceprints seriously require some updates I didn’t think much of it back in the day, but in hindsight it’s very weird that almost every theme before 2010 had its own minifig style. Star Wars still had the beady, pupil-less full-black eyes (concurrent with the TCW style), Harry Potter’s looked like they tried to make them “realistic” (or drunk), and Indy was pretty inconsistent with the women having coloured eyes.

There are a few examples: Toy Story (2010-2019) Harry Potter (2011-2018) Pirates of the Caribbean (2011-2017) Jurassic World (2015-2018) Technically, there are three other examples than don't really count in my opinion Jurassic Park/World (2001-2015) Marvel (2004-2012) DC (2008-2012) Indy would definitely break Toy Story's record with an impressive 13-year gap

I wonder when the return of the theme might get announced (if it does return in the first place). There’s hardly any pattern to that Trolls got announced with a big press release like 9-10 months before the sets actually hit shelves, while other licensed themes barely get any fanfare, especially returning ones. There was no big announcement when Toy Story, Jurassic World, or POTC came back from hibernation, right? Then again, Harry Potter got a pretty significant one, so it could go either way

If they’re releasing minifigs at some point, I can’t imagine them being included in anything other than D2C sets First off, that way they wouldn’t cannibalise their sales and secondly, the amount of characters that would actually make sense as minifigs is pretty low anyway (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Wario, Waluigi, and Pauline come to mind, and maybe some of the few humanoid enemies like Hammer Bros). An airship could be a potential minifig-scale D2C set if they ever go down that road, but there’s other candidates with higher priorities IMO (Peach’s castle or the hub from Galaxy 2)
