  1. I believe there's one for Avalonia. An old one, I mean, with builds from the very first challenge and which might not have been updated for a while, but pretty sure I've seen it somewhere.
  2. Hey thanks Gid, good to hear from you! And haha, indeed I knew that Lord Gideon of Barqa is the most famous half-elf in GoH, but I didn't know about that build of yours! I thought so many times of going fleshy just because of those elf-pieces, but now the 'new' female pointy ears have alleviated the tension I saw a few people painting the other pieces yellow, some with nice results actually, like this one, yet I'm always a bit wary of modifying original bricks.. Oh and hey, Avalonians, well done with the challenge entries! Let's keep this up!
  3. Yesss lovely initiative - good to see some stuff from Nocty! I think the layout is good as it is, I love that you indicated the different entnicities for (almost) each settlement, as such variety makes Nocty all the more attractive. I also like the choice of including the colour of the roofs, for the sake of such variety again
  4. Awesome job, SK! I wish LEGO actually went for a redux series of Classic Castle sets in the way you build them! 'even included a few dark gray parrots' <--
  5. hahaha true this one and well, I won't exactly echo the others aboput that tree: I find it awesome too and saw it before, but I'm too much of a noob to know how the tech works exactly I can spot some bars and clips.. Quite of a moving story too, I actually felt a bit sad when reading! (yes, I'm the romantic type... sometimes! )
  6. Lovely build. I personally find it interesting how clean and yet irregular the terrain is and how you kept the grass clearly separated from the path (and I see that @Grover has noticed something too - we were talking about terrains). The way you used only a small amount of cobblestone in front of the door adds to it. Finally, I also really like the lines of the irregular base I'm not too sure about the tan jumpers on the roof, but that's just nitpicking
  7. Thank you, RA ^^ So, you'd have a more sudden transition on the roof on the higher part as well? Like again with medium flesh, is that what you mean? haha thanks HQ And yes, in this case the half-elf is busy drumming, that's why Would you use light trans-blue instead? I'm not sure I like it that much. I do like the medium one, but as you probably know, the prive isn't that friendly and there are no tiles I've got more builds coming up with the dark one, just to try it up a bit.
  8. Awesome! I do feel honoured for that 2nd, thank you! Well done everyone, organisers, participants and winners alike!
  9. Neat, clean and sturdy as usual! The highlight for me is the sloped foundation, as you said yourself. And nice idea covering it with another layer of snot, which I'm guessing isn't attached - it simply rests on those cheeses at the bottom? I also like how those 'wooden' inverted slopes on the tower are attached only from above - I'd never thought they'd look that good!
  10. Whoa! I hadn't realised those ice-lovers had been so productive! Yet gogogo Avalonians, still solidly at the top!
  11. Fellows Avalonians, fellows Historican, @Henjin_Quilones's mini-challenge reminded me that I still had to update my sigfig for Book III, so here we go. I'm pleased to introduce Laesonar, Half-elf 2.0 [a.k.a. Laelariel version]. Hope you guys like it as much as I do Yes, the background isn't really white - that tan hair made things complicated.. Needless to say, Laesonar remains a member of the best Guild - Up Avalonia! Long may the Green Dragon fly!
  12. OMG I don't have an idea yet... What do I do?! [awesome job, @Henjin_Quilones, with the initiative as well as the build with the throne]
  13. Cool start, Jesse! Lovely wall texture, good use of the 'cheese arch' and nice base. I'm also surprised at how well dark green goes with medium dark flesh - I need to try that combo myself! Oh and now I understand why Rohan soldiers are so rare.. !
  14. Well this is a very nice start! I like the interior as well as the underground cave with the spring and the snow is well done. One thing that bothers me a little is that the snow on the ridge on the front should be pointing down, rather than diagonal. I also think that the stonework on the house is a bit messy, I might be a good idea to use one primary colour (say, light bley) and use the other one for small variation. The short story is intriguing enough and makes me wanna know more about this little village built on the hot spring. Oh and I also have a question: is it me seeing things or you've actually used gold for the path? If so, it looks waaaays better than I'd expect. If not, please lemma know and I'll get myself some glasses or something
  15. Well done, Bas! I'm surprised how well the path (stairs) looks, even being of the same colour of the rock arounds (which I guess was your point, given the dwarven architecture). I'm even more surprised to see how well the irregular rockwork looks - I'm used to tidier ones. So a lot of stuff here for me to look at. Oh and nice touch with the (Brickforge?) shield and those macaroni tiles. Finally, you got me really intrigued by the story by now; I really wanna see those wastelands! Always if our heroes will get there, indeed. Never know.. EDIT Just read above, it is, indeed, a Brickforge shield. Got some from them, but not the one with the ram, unfortunately.
  16. Well I really like the fact that you took the time to depict a scene from the trip, rather than jumping directly to the arrival or the 'big event' during the road. Doing so also shows us a bit of Valryan countryside, which is nice. For me the highlight here is the colour of the path - I never thought of it and the result is awesome. I wonder how it'd be with other shades of green.
  17. 'lives sacrificed in the pursuit of science are the foundation of what gnomish technology is build upon' This. Just this.
  18. Simple, short and intriguing enough. I guess I'd rather wanna know where exactly this is taking place, but I do appreciate the idea of keeping it short. Nice lighting once more, very appropriate. Looks like you got quite involved with lamps for this challenge!
  19. hahaha good one! the drummer must be my fav, as they usually are, indeed. Again, really nice lighting, I'm guessing it's just a lamp pointing in the middle? And whoa, that's a whole bunch of figs you got there!
  20. Really nice! The lighting turned out very well and you've already described how you did it, else I'd've asked Enjoyable little bit of story too.
  21. Very nice, dG. I think you really captured the atmosphere of a spring festival! I love all the activity, a lot of details but not too many, colours are nice and relaxing
  22. haha I was going to say, that's a lot of figs! But then read your description Are they really 100 or did you manage to cheat? I'm glad your son wouldn't settle for less - it looks really realistic having all those people gathered for the event. Going for 'classic', non-fighting challenges is also a nice choice
  23. haha really intriguing how you mentioned the 'death' in the title, showed the assassin but then.. plot twist! I also love how Muakhah mantains his cool (and the same smile) throughout the whole thing Lovely build with some nice architectural details, I really like the shot through the arches. It's also nice to get to know some more characters from Khadira
  24. Awesome job, LJ! I love every details, my fav being that sort of curve in the floor. Can't wait for the build log!
