  1. Is it bad that I saw this movie just for Nathan Fillion? I seem to like him in everything... and this was no exception. In fact, he was probably the only thing I liked in Sea of Monsters. Oh, and I agree completely; the books are worth reading.
  2. I'm cautiously optimistic for this movie. I really want to like it, but I don't want to set my expectations too high and come out disappointed. But if the early reviews are any indication, this film is a hit!
  3. If they're making Groot, you'd better believe they're making Rocket Raccoon. If the movie follows the recent comics to any degree (excluding Iron Man and Angela), then the character focus should be something like: Star-Lord Gamora Rocket Raccoon Drax Groot I imagine RR will be one of the major things audiences (including kids!) will remember about this movie. Not making a LEGO minifigure out of him would probably not be the best business decision.
  4. The speeder looks fine for the most part, but the swooping width would look more accurate if it went from 6 to 8 studs instead of the current 4 to 10 studs; just my two cents though.
  5. Now that's bizarre. Why would they bother with a new hat design when the crew member included in the Microfighter ISD still uses the western hat? I mean it'll still look fine from far away but... sigh. It just confuses me.
  6. That's the one! Like Waid with Daredevil, Fraction made me invested in a character I had no interest in at all beforehand. Since the release of Hawkeye is pretty staggered and they're only on issue #15/16(*) it should be pretty easy to catch up. (*) For some reason, issue #16 was actually put on the market before issue #15. I have no idea why and to my recollection this is the first time this has happened with a major publisher since the early days of Spawn.
  7. I'm not sure if I missed something here, but does the Milano ship belong to the Guardians or to the Nova Corps (they both share the same color scheme)? Because in the comics the Guardians' ship is just called "Ship" and a quick Google search didn't yield any results.
  8. There were rumors circulating of a cancelled collectable series of Marvel figures. I'm not sure when it started but I remember seeing it around six months ago. But again, what info are we supposed to share our thoughts on in terms of the GOTG sets?
  9. One more thing, another great book to pick up is Hawkeye by Fraction and Aja. You'll fall in love instantly. A good place to start is the first trade (titled "My Life as a Weapon"). And always glad to help! No apologies needed.
  10. For Miles Morales, get the first trade for Ultimate Comics: All-New Spider-Man (what a title!) Here's a link to the Amazon page: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0785157131 Khamala Khan is a new character, first appearing in Captain Marvel #17 in November 2013. I'd recommend just picking up Issue #1 of the new series when it comes out. I'm sure it'll be a fine jumping on point (that'll be my introduction to her as well!). Also, I wouldn't judge a series' quality on #0.1 or .NOW issues; they're usually no indicator.
  11. Speculation. I'm going to say that they are OT based; they definitely would have included the Inquisitor if it was for Rebels.
  12. I don't read Superior Foes but I don't think (don't quote me on this) that it includes Spider-Man. "Marvel Now!" is not a reboot of the universe, it just serves as a jumping on point into the universe for new readers. So this is the best time to get into comics! I would check out issue 1 Daredevil when it releases. I had no interest in the character but then I checked out Mark Waid's recent run and I can't get enough. He's also writing the new series so I imagine it'll be great as well.
  13. He seems to be blacked out, but I have no idea why; we can see him in the cockpit easily. You'd think that they would also black out his face in the cockpit also!
  14. Right now (if we're only counting books where a Spider-Man is actually in it) there's Ultimate Spider-Man, Amazing Spider-Man (miniseries, soon to return to ongoing), and Superior Spider-Man. Personally, I'd recommend Ultimate Spider-Man if you're not too attached to the 616 universe. But, even so, Miles Morales is about to permanently be a part of that universe. There are three good places to start with that series. 1. The beginning! Ultimate Peter, teen drama, great writing. I'd pick up the first trade at least to try it out. 2. When the book gets a new number one! In 2009, to set up the "Death of Spider-Man" arc, Bendis and co. reverted back to number one. Although Peter's death and the fallout among his friends isn't so poignant if you start here, it's an acceptable jumping on point if you don't want to collect about ten years of trades. 3. When Miles Morales comes in; skip all that Peter Parker crap, let's get to the current stuff! Some characters carry over such as Spider-Woman, Gwen Stacy, Aunt May, and Mary Jane, but the rest is all new. Only three trades (I think) to catch up on, so not too bad. Miles is in the 616 universe now, so if that's all you're interested in, this would be the only relevant story. I started at the very beginning and I loved most of it; Bendis' writing is nothing short of fantastic.
  15. What can I say, I'm an film geek. My first four weren't widely released (especially Persistence of Vision, I had to see that one at a film festival!) so I wouldn't expect anyone to. I'd recommend watching their previews on YouTube and checking them out on DVD if you're interested.
  16. That's the most plausible theory I've heard! I think you've called it, considering the initial rumor of the figure came from a credible source.
  17. I extremely regret never seeing 12 Years a Slave; I'll have to catch it on DVD this year.
  18. Sounds great! I loved the BTTF Delorean and I'm sure I'll love this one too. I wonder if they'll include all four Ghostbusters... From a fan's perspective, it's necessary, but what about from LEGO's perspective?
  19. Hi, I didn't see a topic like this anywhere and thought it would be interesting to get everyone's opinions. I'm a huge film buff and 2013, in my opinion, was a pretty great year for the industry. My top favorites are: 1. Inside Llewyn Davis 2. Frances Ha 3. Nebraska 4. Persistence of Vision (Ok, technically this started touring in 2012 film festivals, but it came to Houston in 2013; I'm going to count it) 5. Her l also really enjoyed (in no particular order): Much Ado About Nothing, Captain Phillips, Gravity, Enough Said, Fruitvale Station, and Pacific Rim. So what are your favorite films of 2013? (Also, sorry if this topic already existed)
  20. I'm no expert (so correct me if I'm wrong), but I'm pretty sure the Vulture Droid is self-piloted (aka there is no reason to have a cockpit in the first place). I see LEGO's reason behind including one though, it's a great play feature for kids.
  21. Wow! Stunning model-I though it was beautiful when I first saw it but I never imagined that it housed so many nooks and crannies of details! A true work of art, Migalart
  22. I'm going to focus on fairly major characters that we haven't received since the inclusion of pupils. EPISODE IV Captain Antilles Uncle Ben Aunt Beru Ponda Baba Garindan (Imperial Spy) Admiral Motti Biggs Darklighter General Dodonna Rebel Ground Crew EPISODE V Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ghost) Captain Needa Admiral Ozzel 4-LOM Zuckess Luke Skywalker (Dagobah) Yoda (New) Luke Skywalker (Bespin) Han Solo (Bespin) Princess Leia (Bespin) Lando Calrissian (Bespin) Ughnaut EPISODE VI Lando Calrissian (General) Mon Mothma Crix Madine Han Solo (Endor) Luke Skywalker (Endor) Princess Leia (Endor) Yoda (Ghost) Anakin Skywalker (Ghost; preferably Sebastian Shaw, but now I'm dreaming )
  23. That's definitely a reason. Also, for non-exclusive sets, it could be to warn customers to look for it on other websites quickly before prices skyrocket.
  24. Ah, the much more frustrating and far inferior sequel to the Playstation classic.* One could only dream for sets based off of those games, but as long as we're dreaming, I suppose... Doc Ock's Underwater Facility ($50-60): Spider-Man, Black Cat, Carnage, Monster Ock. Includes a large facade featuring large windows with stickered underwater design. Also, breakable walls, a cell for Black Cat, a computer station, and some sort of sonic emitter type function (perhaps something akin to "push the button to spin the emitter rapidly"). But of course that would never happen. *I'm sorry but most of the game's levels were poorly designed in my opinion. The only redeemable aspects are Stan Lee's voiceover and the unlockable boss artwork (Mark Bagley!).
  25. Same for the characters on the Ghost box artwork... Let's just hope these are final design decisions! That would be fantastic
