I totally agree! Give me a Batarang-in-the-eye-half-dead Duplo Joker and that'll make my day! Or even better, how about Ronald Reagan! The extremely ironic thing is that the Duplo stuff may be based off of the "New" 52 designs since DC wants to force it down all of our throats so bad.

Yes, that's what I meant by Rebels. Rebels is a TV series coming out in late 2014, which is why I think the new battle packs will be Rebel Trooper and Imperial Trooper themed.
-
Probably Rebels---something similar to 2007's Imperial Dropship and Rebel Scout Speeder, perhaps? However there will inevitably be new cartoon prints for the Stormtroopers and Rebel faces... Yay.
-
So will this supposed LEGO Simpsons TV show be just another episode of the Simpsons only LEGO themed? Or something else entirely? (Sorry in advance if there is a separate topic for the show)
-
I imagine the last figure in the Cantina will be R2D2 because: 1. Why would there be a droid scanner feature if no droids are included? 2. R2D2 just got a new print and I imagine LEGO would be eager to use it again. I'm not getting my hopes up for Ponda but it would be VERY cool if he was included. I don't think LEGO would be too against giving us two new molds in one set... just look at the Jabba sets! In the palace there was the Gamorrean Guard, new Jabba, and Boushh, and in the barge Max Rebo, Ree-Yees, and Slave Leia had new molds. But, of course, this isn't a $120 set. So everything is up in the air for now!

This wave looks to be expensive for OT collectors! I hope that the spring-loaded blasters are a bit more concealed than they appear in the preliminary versions, but they can always be displayed without the bullet in the launcher if need be.

X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy? YES! Has it been confirmed to be the Blackbird? I hope that it is and not just some generic made-up Brotherhood ship... LEGO was probably commissioned by Marvel to create three sets to promote Guardians of the Galaxy because it is a relatively obscure team and needs more merchandise. The X-Men set sounds like an extremely loose "tie-in" (I know that LEGO doesn't have the rights) to a movie with an already large franchise, thus only needing one set to capitalize off of the inevitable X-Men craze. I imagine that the $90 set is the Guardian of the Galaxy's command ship, appropriately titled Ship. If it is based off the current comic design, we could be in for a great looking set!

I have never watched an episode of the Simpsons and am still tempted to buy it. The house looks ripped directly off the screen! I think the complaints about it being a "big tan box" are valid, but I'd like to point out that if it was more detailed with 1x2 brick pieces, it would detract from its cartoon roots. 2014 is shaping to be a wonderful year for LEGO.

Wow, I can't believe I was nearly spot-on about the summer wave. B-Wing, Imperial Star Destroyer, Mos Eisley... I guess I was wrong about the lack of Snowspeeder though! So prequel fans... Now it's your turn to complain about what we don't have sets of yet

True, but like lightningtiger said, the Batplane in the set is almost identical to the one seen in the 40s comics. If they were afraid of making the plane look too old-fashioned, then here's a hint: don't base it off of an old-fashioned plane! There's been a plethora of Batplanes and wings over the years, surely LEGO can find one to do an adaptation of...

I just don't get why that Batplane doesn't have a front propeller... It looks bizarre and frankly unfinished without one.

Best/Worst designed licenced minifigure ever?
montgocloud replied to Santaduckz's topic in LEGO Licensed
My pick for worst is 2012 Spidey. In a time where everyone and their mother has leg printing, his is noticibly missing. Also, there is just too much blue on the figure. This might have been fixed with leg printing, but I'm not exactly sure. -
Are the Marvel sets coming out in March or earlier? Because last year we didn't see the spring wave of Marvel until around a month before release. Maybe these are actually coming out sooner than we thought! Or maybe it's just wishful thinking...

Oh, I know the logic. I'm not blaming LEGO for it... More so the Ultimate Spider-Man TV show for creating worthless vehicles purely for marketing (hey, like in the comic!). And I know this is another version of Peter Parker, but in the 616 comic Spider-Man's first reaction to the Spider Mobile was: "Now that's what I call a fiasco," which makes me think that he is kind of above using them. He certainly would be in the Ultimate comics! But again, this is the Ultimate TV series, which is far different. This is a TV show problem and not a LEGO problem. On a different note, that comic of Amazing Spider-Man scarily mirrors real life! A company creates a nonsensical vehicle for marketing purposes (Marvel) and Spider-Man's reaction is utter disbelief (us). Yeah but that makes a bit more sense than Spider-Man. He's not just flying around in an empty helicopter, he's carrying a bunch of suits for whatever battle he might face. Spider-Man doesn't have a bunch of different suits. Spider-Man isn't rich. Spider-Man doesn't need a helicopter. I think I'm getting extremely off topic though so I'm going to stop

Marvel and DC were both kiddiefied last year. Mandarin's buggy? The Spider Bike? The Daily Bugle Showdown? Black Zero Escape? The BAT and Bane's Tumbler? I loved most of those sets once I actually bought them and I'm sure it'll be the exact same with 2014 Marvel and DC. With Star Wars, the builds are nearly identical in quality with 2013 LEGO Star Wars, minus the addition of new shooting blasters and the lack of OT sets besides the Death Star Troopers and some of the Microfighters. I imagine that the new spring-loaded shooters will replace the flick-fires soon which in my book is an improvement! That's less kiddiefied! A lot of LEGO Star Wars 2014 mainly doesn't interest me because it's all focused around the PT. But I imagine that Marvel/DC Superheroes will be very consistent with last year's quality, only more diverse which isn't a bad thing at all. But while bat vehicles are a staple of the Batman character, spider vehicles are not a staple of the Spider-Man character. Spider-Man is a teenager in both the Ultimate comics and TV series and can't afford bikes, trikes, and helicopters. Even when he's an adult you never see him in vehicles; it's just not in his character. An Extremis boat can double as an AIM boat since Extremis is made by AIM in both Iron Man 3 and the comics. The second variations of bat vehicles are unnecessary though, especially that plane! I mean there's nothing practical about that thing! What IS it? I'm fine with the Bat copter and the Nightwing glider though since we haven't seen a copter in DC Superheroes and Nightwing is a Bat family character and thus funded by Wayne. He also needs a glider because he can't fly or spin webs. The second Batmobile is good, though I wouldn't want to see one if I had the option. It's nicely designed and distinct enough from the other variation. The more apt comparison would be Batman vehicles and Iron Man vehicles. Both can afford it, but would it be right to have an Iron Man Mobile? Or an Iron Man Copter? No, it would be stupid. He has powers and him having a helicopter would be redundant just like Spider-Man having a helicopter is redundant. But if all the spider vehicles were all colored blue and had the SHIELD logo, I would feel much differently. SHIELD has vehicles; it's in their character. That's the big word here: character. The reason it's not right for Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor, or Superman in a vehicle is because they weren't written to have one, and the reason they weren't written to have one is because they have no need for one. But I'm sure the kids will eat the spider vehicles up. Sigh... If only they were colored blue.

Most definitely (I even posted that when we got the first preliminary pictures)! I'd give the set a solid 9/10 if it had a color and logo change. If it was a SHIELD copter, it wouldn't be limited to just Spider-Man. Think about it: you could put Hawkeye, Black Widow, or even Nick Fury in the cockpits and it would STILL make since. And I hate Spider vehicles. They're redundantly redundant.

Here's some stuff I'd like to see: LIKELY Sentinel Attack ($40): Wolverine (cowl), Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast. Includes a large Sentinel built in the style of a mech. NOT SO LIKELY The Blackbird ($80): Professor X, Storm, Iceman, Nightcrawler, Magneto, Mystique. Includes the Blackbird (think Quinjet). Now, since the Blackbird isn't so likely, the more iconic characters like Storm will probably be seen in the potential Sentinel set. If there's only a Sentinel set, the character line-up should be: Wolverine (cowl), Cyclops, Storm, Beast.

I'm not sure why people keep complaining about us not receiving game-based Ock arms. Not only would they be unstable, it would be impossible to keep them curved like they are in the game without some sort of brace.

I think the reason I'm not as offended as some by the Goblin and Electro designs is because I grew up with the USM comics. And although these sets may be based on the god awful cartoon adaptation of the series, the character designs are, by and large, identical to their comic counterparts. Also, for those claiming that "Disney ruined Green Goblin and Electro," Ultimate Goblin and Electro first appeared in 2001, far before the Disney acquisition. Just clearing up facts

I'd love a Cantina Band member as well but there's one problem you're overlooking: what iconic vehicle would he come with?

If I get a brain aneurism as a result of the lack of two Spider-Man variations, can I hold LEGO responsible? But the rest looks fantastic. Classic Marvel at its finest! Is Cap a new variant? Doesn't look like it to me but everyone was saying he was...
