  1. Not in my case. I build it securely in LDD and (if I failed to give it some strength at some points) I sometimes use Stud.io's stability check as it shows some of the potential weak spots. I trust my building 100%, though, I'm certain that what I build digitally is structurally sound in real life
  2. 100% my feeling too. I might get one and (as someone has said) it is a solid build. If DD had been released as the first modular, we'd all be worshipping it. From a purely aesthetical point of view, it might be better than those previous. And that blurry image was just from the wrong angle! I remember it looked at the Diner from the "jukebox" section. Heck, when they released the image form the other side, most the people started liking it. It would be amazing. In the same way of PR. Come on, Lego. Just let one tiny blurry image get past you...
  3. Here comes Vibrant Coral! Besides that, some great new recolours in the newest sets and some new moulds (the curved 1x1 bow as the purple animal's ears, for instance ). Which are the best in these new sets?
  4. A building I've always loved and would like to turn to a modular someday is "La Rotonda", not the one in Vicenza, but one in Barcelona: I think it shares some ideas with the one you're suggesting, but is overall more daring. That dome is just beautiful. In fact, there was big controversy as, recently, an architecture firm bascially hollowed the building, restored some of it and destroyed many of the detailing on the cornices. If modularized, I believe the major changes would be on the ground floor, as it's pretty darn boring
  5. Certainly an improvement! The titled book on the left now closes the space even more nicely. I really like how you brought the book concept to the roof of the library itself, maybe you could even stack more books there! This is giving me Toy Story Land feels, which is good!
  6. I agree that a black modular would most likely be terrible. It's certainly true that such colours are not prodominant in many countries but I think we've had enough tan for a little while. Sand colours work well but both sand green and sand blue are (rather surprisingly) somewhat common modular colours. Correct me if I'm wrong but (like someone has said) Dark Orange is still on the waiting list for being main colour for a modular. Well, if we don't count the laundromat in BB. Industrial architecture with its brickwork is fascinating and would work well for a supporting structure. @RogerSmith, everytime I've tried building with cool yellow I've had to move to a stronger shade of yellow as it withered away once everything else was in place. Not saying it can't look great, just my experience. A thing modulars have a bit failed to have recently is a defined shape. Yes they do have main places to look at (usually the top of the building) but they seem less planned than PR for instance. A prominent shape or silhouette is something I would love to see. When you draw out the outline of the recent models, they are most of them boxes. Why not triangles or curves?
  7. Here's a pretty interesting B-Model for DD: I'm actually giving them a little break to come with full strength later. I'm building something a bit different. Ideas for modulars are always welcome, as well as comments/things to improve from my previous.
  8. And there hasn't been one with yellow, orange or red either. Yet, there have been two in sand blue, two in medium nougat, countless in tan...
  9. Wow! Awesome technique! I believe this is how the roof a an Elbphilarmonie MOC was made. This one: https://brickmonkey.net/elbphilharmonie/ Honoured! I'm not building anything new currently, but I hope to start a new modular soon enough
  10. Wasn't this the main inspiration for PC?
  11. These: and these or just search on Instagram "legoleak", everything leaked pops up there
  12. Very clean build! The structure reminds me quite a bit of parisian architecture. The colours make the structure really shine and I adore the steep street on the side! Wishing such colour was in the regular Lego palette
  13. What a beauty! First off, the composition of the two buildings is magnificent and the textures and colours they create as they join is just marvellous. I'm relly glad you took risks for this model, as it has definitely paid off. The olive green building on the left is very unique but versatile enough it could work as a Pet Shop-style modular. Yeees! I'm not the only one making bottom floors a lot different from the top floors! This dark red entrance to the Hats Shop is very beautiful and reminds me of the entrances to the London underground's Northern line (both my last models took inspiration from that ) The Dutch top floor is a stand-out for this model too. The colours mix very organicly and makes me absolutely love this building. As for the tavern, I like that you took risks and I like most of it, especially the shaping of the bartizan tower. I don't like the fact the two top floors look a bit cramped but I think the design really pays off. As for the fountain, it reminds me of the one you had built for the project we were doing. Is it that one? Overall, a magnificent piece. This suddenly reminded me of your Florentine Steakhouse. I'm not saying that you other modulars were a step-down, but this definitely caters to me more than your latest have. A super job!
  14. @Bricked1980 I think I've heard this rumour before... About your question, modulars are pretty complex in terms of building techniques, nonetheless, most of us, the modular MOC builders try to mimic or get close to the complexity of the official designs. At least speaking for me, mine are definitely as compex as offical models.
  15. Unique idea! I agree with @Man with a hat, the books look marvellous bu the building on the right needs some improvement. Adding some depth to the windows and and interesting cornice should do the trick
  16. For me, the most obvious use of Sand Red is for mables, especially those decorating churches all around Italy plus granite surfaces. Besides than, I would agree, it's maybe too dark compared to the other two memebers of the sand family. If it's even more vivid than that, I wouldn't be surprised if it showed up in Elves. The comback of teal was mainly due to their efforts. Curious to see how this colour may look like!
  17. There are rumours there's a new light red/salmon colour coming next year (just a rumour!). Do you think they could ideally put it to use with the new modular, like they did for PR?
  18. Thanks for all your replies! Coming from the studded world, gears are a bit hard for me, but thanks! Extremely grateful for the measurements and this trick for centre to centre distance @Splat! I'll ask again if I have any more issues
  19. Hello guys! I've recently started incorporating Technic into some of my builds and how stumbled upon a little issue which I hope you could answer: In the modular Detective's Office, there's a 24-tooth gear (part 24505 https://brickset.com/parts/6133119/gear-wheel-z24) that holds a 3-wide chain (part 6047885 https://brickset.com/parts/6047885), which can hold plates. In the Detective's Office, this is used in the rooftop water tank. My question is, would this work with a bigger gear? I'm pretty certain the biggest gear in the Technic system is the 40-tooth one (part 6195314 https://brickset.com/parts/6195314/gear-wheel-40t) and I'm almost certain the chains and such gear are compatible. If anyone has such gear, will it work? Which diameter does the 40-tooth gear have? Might be a rather dumb question, but trying to wrap my head around Technic is not at all the easiest thing!
  20. While it would make sense by today's standards, I think there's an extra charm to the staircase pieces going up and down the buildings. I just smile every time I see the back of AS.
  21. Exciting news! The description sounds like a salmon colour. Eagerly waiting for more news
  22. Name changed! Not sure how to change it from subforum, though. About the transparent lilac, while I agree, I don't think the transparent palette needs as wide of a variety as the solid colours one. A new metalised/transparent colour (at least for me) is never as big news as a new solid colour. That said, an orangish red or a mustard yellow are still very high on the wanted list.
