Yes, the SBrick motor driver is much better than a receiver. I don't think this should be a rule, but a maximum limit. There are probably many people (like me) that don't have 2 XL-motors or 4 M-motors. Use max. 2 XL or max. 4 L, but you don't have to.

Technic General Discussion
offroadcreations replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, I just built a "fantasy" supercar, so I might be able to answer this. Question 1: I started with what I call a "beam sketch." I put the beams and tires on the ground to create a 2D model of what I want to build. However, when I started building, the model ended up using trial and error building. I mostly only used the general shape of the roofline and distance between the wheels from the original. Question 2: I first built the chassis, and attempted the front and rear end. I couldn't really get a good design going, so I tried the roofline and went from there. With renewed inspiration, I eventually did the back, front, and then sides. This is just how I did it, not some perfect recipe for a supercar. And if you start and keep trying like I did, I'm sure you can make one too. -
@Didumos69@Saberwing40k Thanks for the nice comments! Thanks! When I started I was most worried about my building skill level. My goal was to finish, but I didn't know how well I would finish. I have started the LDD file and may also make photo or LDD screenshot instructions. I was also wondering, if anyone would be interested in building this? Some more chassis pics:

Yep, my reason was for a CV-joint in a front suspension, too. Thanks! And your signature is very true. Was it weird building with it, because the ends weren't smooth? I know from experience those little black pieces inside can't handle a lot of stress... This happened just last night.

The only thing I've done is create 2 2.5L axles by cutting 2 normal 3L axles. I really don't regret it, I was happy with the results.

Excavator family

Looks good, I like what you did to the Volvo and 8043! -
Wow, I never realized how large that actually was. And I agree, it looks way more polished.

Some more work on the front end: I have started work on the sides, I am working on getting a larger panel flush with a smaller one and opening. Currently every attempt is one or the other: It opens and isn't flush, or is flush and won't open right. So it needs some more work... This is how the door has to be at an angle to look right. It rotates on the connector. This is one of the many things I've tried.

[WIP] project C.O.R.E.

Oh wow, this looks really cool. I can't wait to see this done and I plan on following it. I just want to suggest: add a little more detail on the front. Most cars like this have a more aggressive front, while the one on yours is flat. When I first saw the sides I thought of the Ariel Atom, so maybe you could get inspiration from it? But IMO if you are going for a concept-car look, the front as you have it looks perfect. -
WIP Tesla S 100P

Wow, this seems very ambitious, but I know you can do it. Can't wait to see this finished! This seems like it is going to be one very awesome model. Especially with an auto braking system. That suspension is already off to a great start. Also, this Developer Mode seems pretty cool:
