  1. That's a fine toy store with nice little builds that are easy to recognize! I like the windows built sideways. You did a great effort tiling the whole building. Do you have some pictures of the interiors on the upper floors? It seems they are very detailed! Have fun building your own town!
  2. I wonder if the minifigures in this set will have the classic simple minifigure faces. As 40567 Forest Hideout comes with modern minifigure faces, I expect 10305 Lion Queen's Castle to use them too. 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay also came with updated minifigures. I like these reimagined minifigures a lot, but the classic space minifigures with classic smiley faces are so iconic I can't imagine them to come with modern faces.
  3. The leaked list started fantastic, until that first minifigure got a 'hobby horse' It's a costume series all over again. Such a dissapointment, while I was eagerly hoping for a throwback series. For the first time I could see myself buying multiple complete boxes! I imagined myself reimagined characters like Tim the Time Cruiser, some random classic Town minifigures, Captain Ironhook, a female Islander, a Black Knight or more generic knights, Paradisa strandgoers, Baron Von Barron... I'm sure there will be some likeable characters, but I really dislike a whole series design budget and efforts get spend on costume parts. Of course I'm happy we get a knight and a captain, but to me the combination with the unnecessary party accessories just doesn't feel right. Getting a captain with or without seagull, map, binoculars... is a whole different feeling than getting one with a boat costume, even though I know I don't have to use it.
  4. That's really thoughtful of you! I wish GWPs became available to buy eventually. In the past I even have sourced some of them together. Too bad B&P has become such a mess, as I have experienced today.
  5. 2 upcoming Ideas sets seem to be really big. It makes me wonder if the lighthouse will be minifigure scale. The other has to be the table soccer?
  6. At the moment I don't need or want any of the current available sets, but the Forest Hideout is so appealing I'm going to buy stuff anyway, just like LEGO wants. I just made a list with presents for my family later this year. Is it possible to get more than one GWP by making multiple purchases? One per household is too sparse, as I want it for myself, but also for my kids. If only it was buyable! We don't see nostalgic sets very often, especially so small. I'm still in love with Benny's Space Squad .
  7. I was looking forward to get the GWP 'The Adventures of the USS Cardboard', but I don't think I'll get it. I think the set looks still very fun, but as the spaceship has become a tad bigger and more gray, I think it has become less cute and less looking as cardboard. It's also very reliant on stickers to depict the spaceship as cardboard. A few printed dark tan tiles would have been great and even useful to make cardboard boxes in other sets. But especially I think the purchase treshold for LEGO GWP's has become too high.
  8. I like how the design of the toilet mocks the absurdity of the flood of real life objects replicas produced by LEGO. It must have been the designer's intention, no?
  9. The juvenile animals are lovely and I think it is great to see a gray, and thus the first non white, rabbit! It gets on my wish list together with the small red birds. The corn looks too specialized and detailed for a LEGO part to my liking. I like the grapes and peppers much more, even though they are just recolored existing parts. Too bad it has become difficult to gather such exciting parts with all changes and problems lately with Pick A Brick and Bricks & Pieces.
  10. I would have been excited for the chain mail torso, if it wasn't for the printed cape, although it's way better executed than the printing on CMF 20 Viking, where IMHO the back print really ruins the minifigure, that I otherwise would have adored! A generic chain mail torso would have been fantastic. One that could be used for multiple factions. I like the torso of CMF 19 Fright Knight, but I'm relucant to change the hands on torsos.
  11. No way we have seen the new castle yet! To build a LEGO medieval setting there were used and recycled a lot of the previous Castle sets, just like was done with the modular buildings to build Bricksburg in The LEGO Movie. I really like the headdress for the lady. It looks like a white version of the headgear from the Egyptian Warrior. I would really like to see some civilian minifigures in the 10305 set! They are much too rare! Thankfully there is a City farm theme coming soon, I'm looking forward to get some animals too!
  12. The set's leaked name is Lion King's Castle, so I hope and dare to assume this will be the case. In the fan vote for the 90th anniversary set, the only knights with a lion emblem were the Lion Knights. They had a King's Castle:
  13. A castle that would feel right next to the blacksmith would have to be enormous. The Medieval Blacksmith looks nice as a Medieval Fantasy building, but IMHO as a LEGO Castle set the blacksmith feels oversized. It is very out of proportion next to previous civilian castle sets, which scale I prefer, as you can see in this picture from the web:
  14. I feel sorry for the fans of the other themes. With only one anniversary set and the heated discussion about the fan vote, dissapointment was inevitable. We can only hope there will come nostalgic sets like this castle, Benny's Spaceship and Space Squad and Pirates of Barracuda Bay every now and then. A Classic Space moonbase, an Imperial fortress or ship, an Adventurers quest... it could all be amazing! But... imagine the fan vote was there to select which theme gets the largest set, while the other popular themes get smaller sets in this anniversary year!
  15. Amazing! Even though I'm sure I would have loved any other theme, this is completely what I was wishing for and just like how I described it in the fan vote! It sounds like it's going to be a really impressive castle! I'm curious to see the final set and if there will be some other factions, peasants, different horses and other animals included.
  16. What a great placing of your latest modular acquisition! The Boutique Hotel looks really great in that corner. Would you consider relocating your Green Grocer, as it uses the same sand green color? What a unique and fantastic project you have, combining the modulars with a racing ciruit! I wish you a lot of fun!
  17. Thank you for the great review! Your great pictures and your attention for detail is very helpful and I love your pictures with relating minifigures! Despite the improved quality of the collectible minifigures, I'm still dissapointed the number of minfigures has been reduced to 12, especially since there comes only 1 non-licenced series a year. For me it feels there are less interesting minifigures. I like The Horse and Groom the most, it's such a charming couple. The Troubadour looks great and classic. It would be fantastic if he was a forebode for a neo- or retro-classic castle set. The Bird-watcher is interesting and the toucan looks great! The Forest Elf looks cute, but I wouldn't know how to use him. I would have loved the Wheelchair Racer more if the torso lacked the black bar. I don't like the fantasy warriors and I think the Space Creature looks odd.
  18. I really love the Boutique Hotel, it is a fantastic new modular building! The hotel looks great and cosy, the gallery is a bit smaller than I expected, but it has a very fine collection! I'm really impressed by the wonderful representation of Art Nouveau architecture in LEGO parts! Like the other official modular buildings, there is a lot of detailing, which is well dosed. The detailing I love the most are the organic lines around the windows, especially above them formed by the different types of mudguards. With its references to previous modular buildings, it's a great 15th anniversary set. At first sight, I was amazed how much the Boutique Hotel resembled the Café Corner, updated with new parts, colors and techniques to nowadays standards. Like every new modular building offers innovation, this one comes with an acute (sharp) angled corner, which look great on pictures and will probably look even better and amazing in real life! I like the alley and the continued detailing on this left side. The gap on this side is less pretty and I think it will be a bit difficult to select a modular building to fit on the right side to hide the colored right side due to the short sidewalk. The placing of the Boutique Hotel will be challenging, but it will be rewarded with a fantastic sight! I'm curious if we'll see a modular Music Hall in the future!
  19. Last year there was a user who predicted a modular building in this thread: I thought this could fit together with the description on promobricks: if the hotel terrace was thought of a secondary theme in the set, the hotel was perhaps interpreted as the gallery, since there is no big hotel sign. Maybe theremin's info was right, but was there another modular building in between! The design of the 2022 modular may have been finished over a year ago.
  20. I did get the original Bookshop and have bought the parts separately for the other rowhouses. I'm sorry I can't say how much it costed me, I didn't keep track of my expenses. It also makes it easier to enjoy it, expensive as LEGO is!
  21. It looks great (better in real life than on my picture), but I don't think LEGO will release those in different colors. I recommend everyone to start collecting the required parts and build a row of colored townhouses!
  22. I guess you mean the Fan Vote for LEGO's 90th anniversary? The set is meant to be released next year, as LEGO will celebrate it's 90th anniversary in 2022. I don't expect any news before the launch of the set, since LEGO seems to want to keep the details secret. One of the most popular themes in that vote will get a set. These were the most popular themes: Bionicle, Classic Space, Pirates and Castle. Here is the Fan Vote being discussed on Eurobricks.
  23. The Daily Bugle building looks quite impressive between the modular buildings. I'm amazed it doesn't even need the whole width of its baseplate to be a substantial tower building! IMHO the contrast in colors and in height makes up for a nice visual effect, which makes the standard modulars really shine. Does anyone plan to add the Daily Bugle to their collection or have you already done so? I am quite interested, but since I'm not into licenced stuff, I would remplace the minifigures and adjust the signage. The biggest challenge however would be to add a working elevator. The lack hereoff and especially the fake elevator doors in the set are a big turn off for me. I suspect it would have been handled differently in a standard modular set. I'm curious if there will be an elevator in a modular anytime soon, since the only one we have seen has been a while ago, in the Town Hall.
  24. Thank you for the notification, I'm going to try to get one tomorrow! I think the 40487 Sailboat Adventure looks great, the original submission hasn't been tweaked much at all. Too bad of the terrifying purchase treshold!
  25. Those will be fine GWP sets! The sailing ship would make a great summer set. I guess it will come in August. The timing of development would concur with the Vintage Car.
