Review: 41180: Ragana's Magic Shadow Castle
PicnicBasketSam replied to Velouria's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
...dancing with dragons... I see what you did there. Anyways, good review... can't wait to see the rest of this set, it looks as cool inside as it does on the outside! -
Lego Elves 2016
PicnicBasketSam replied to Amazing Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Okay, point taken. Also, I'd like to point out that there's an 8-month wait between Nexo Knights waves here in America... -

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
PicnicBasketSam replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
WTH?! $70 for the TIE Striker? Not happening, LEGO. But for $30 and $40 each, the tank and AT-ST look even better. -
Um, to anybody who has information about stuff early (amazingbricks, CM4Sci, just2good, etc.), do you know if we're getting actual sets for any of these new licenses in 2017?

Have LEGO products become more violent?
PicnicBasketSam replied to bartneck's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Pfff. Does this study take into consideration stud-shooters and the like? That's as far away as you can possibly get from actual weapons. This year's firefighting sets use them as hose nozzles... if anything, they make things LESS violent by LEGO-izing what would otherwise actually look like a missile turret or whatever. Plus Ninjago sets come with a ton of extra weapons anyway... Master Wu Dragon came with like 5 extra katanas, and there were 4 used as decoration. I don't think these researchers were thorough enough, and frankly, aren't there other things they could be researching than clickbait? -
Stickers in Lego Sets (opinion)!
PicnicBasketSam replied to vinchente000's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm OK with putting stickers on tiles, smooth slopes, sides of bricks, etc. Any flat surface. But on a curved piece like a canopy, or a textured slope where the sticker won't stay on, or round stickers on much bigger pieces, that's really bothersome. Also, they need to make more stickers like those in 76051, which are sturdy and match the color well--most of the time it's either a poorly matched color, or a clear backing that picks up every last fingerprint from applying it. AND you know what else irks me? The fact that stickers can't cover a whole surface--so there are gaps in Giant-Man's suit, and gaps in the stripes on Speed Champions cars, and there's no good way around it. -

The Matrix, for the first time. Definitely one of the coolest movies I've ever seen. -

2016: A Disappointing Year?
PicnicBasketSam replied to Sir Brickalot's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't really find this year disappointing at all. We've seen very strong showings from Marvel, Technic, Ninjago, Elves, Nexo Knights, and Creator, and City has had some really good sets. A lot of crappy ones too, to be sure, but some brilliant designs. Now, I am quite let down by the DC, Star Wars, Disney Princess, and Angry Birds offerings... everything else I didn't mention is pretty much in the middle. Oh, forgot the GB Firehouse... that's a great set too. So no, 2016 is not a disappointing year. Unless you're a Star Wars fan, in which case, I can't help you. -

Cars 3... I still maintain that this is a mindless cash grab sequel... doesn't even sound that interesting.- 279 replies

Ugh... from the boxart, this guy actually looks cool. Not so much in the photos. I don't think I'm going to buy any of this summer wave except maybe Ekimu.
-
I'm not a Minecraft fan either, I just know this stuff from seeing other reviews of it. Certainly it isn't necessary to know that, but still, good to know.

I liked those sets... well, some of them. The smallish fighter sucked, and the big flagship blue thingy wasn't all that great, and those were the only two I had--I do regret not getting the mech or the hovertank. Those were solid designs. And if the next space theme is as rubbish as Castle or Pirates in recent years... I'm going to start buying Ninjago. Or Nexo Knights, if they make any knights' vehicles that appeal to me.

Lego Ninjago 2016
PicnicBasketSam replied to LegendsOfNinjago's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
...say what?! It's about time they made something like this! -
The "crate" and "wheel" are a crafting table and spiderweb. Anyway, great review... I can't say I'm all that thrilled with this set. Seems kind of boring and overpriced. Say what you will about the Porsche, at least that's an interesting model...

Sounds like a lot of fun. Great reporting! Can't wait to see the interview video.

Thanks LegoPegasister2015! I should probably mention that all of those (except 75145 and 75151) are also missing stickers. (Also, I'm currently building and uploading this new wave of City sets. I'll send you a PM when I'm finished.)

Ninjago TV Show: Watchable or poison for grownups?
PicnicBasketSam replied to murphy_slaw's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I can recommend Tournament of Elements... it's the only season I've seen in its entirety, but it is terrific. Of course it's not Avatar-level, but I really enjoyed it. EDIT: I forgot that I watched season 2... that one wasn't as good. Would not recommend. -
