  1. I can easily see a space theme without much conflict work, basicly all Space before Star Wars only had minor "weapons". Some tools from Classic Space could easily be seen as scanners, flashlights or laser cutter. Ice Planet had chainsaws, Space Police had jail cells, things we still see in a Fire (Axes/Circular Saws) or Police(Handcuffs/Jails/Criminals) City theme now. Conflict in themes is more of a thing of the late 90s: Rock Raiders had monsters Aquazone had 2 distinct factions ,Aquanauts vs Aquasharks, and later the more agressive looking/weaponized Stingrays, but gathering crystals was a big part of the line. 1997 had the Aquaraiders which were US only, and while they have sawblade/grinders on their vehicles, it's clearly about mining/destroying the reef (Crystal Scavenger/Aqua Dozer/Reef Wrecker are the set names) Out of all the minfiigs, the Stingray faction certainly looks the most dark or evil with their red eyes. I still never saw any of those factions as full-scale war machines meant to murder the other faction outright, but rather protect against wildlife or steal the crystals. But I don't think any of those older themes compare to the amount of stud shooters, spring loaders and faction/character conflict we see today.
  2. While they removed parts list from boxes on the Creator 3-in-1 line since 2017, I do see they are still on the top side of Creator Expert boxes.
  3. The latest Hidden Side Train that's not been released yet, has doors on the locomotive. It's more of an inconsistency thing, and not a complete removal of doors, I see a lot of sets all the way from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s without doors. Yes, some famous trains like the 9v Metroliner (1991) had doors, but the 1996 and 1999 passenger trains did not. 1980-1985 by far had the most different train sets using doors and multiple passenger trains.
  4. This is a very good helicopter set, it's pretty large, but still uses a nice design with good parts. Golden statue and drone + criminal are nice additions.
  5. To stop the rumours that the theme was about to end with news that it isn't. The last Brickheadz 2019 thread was made in June as well. We know this year isn't going to get many more sets (Ghost and Reindeer/Elf seasonals) unless they surprise us.
  6. First thoughts I had were Star Wars landspeeder (the cop car) meets Futurama style/color building, and then some unique twist to it. Nice build.
  7. Still not just that, compared to even Germany my country is more expensive on some sets, especially Licensed. (Hoth Medical Chamber is a good example, $30 in US, €40 in Germany, €50 in NL). I know the US doesn't have the best deal when it comes to the City theme.
  8. Pricing on some Harry Potter sets hasn't been too good in my country, seeing $20 sets go for €30, of course same could be said for US City sets going for $30 and €20 over here. (Maybe it's a logistics thing) Overall, HP sets are at least 5-10 € higher here then the US $ price. Grindelwald Escape (132 parts) set being €30 and Horntail (265 parts) set being €40 is just way too high for what's on offer. To me the only thing that justifies some proper price increase across the board on LEGO if they go back to 100% prints.
  9. I hope your right, but seeing how it's City themed and not Creator, having a civilian building as main build is more of an exception then rule. Of course I could be wrong, because 2019 already had the snow groomer and the 2018 Ambulance Rescue Helicopter is still for sale. If anything I expect any possibility of : (pure speculation, partly based off the 2017 (Summer) Friends Snow Resort line https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Friends/subtheme-Snow-Resort and the 2018 Creator 3-in-1 Winter Vacation sets) Lodge/Log Cabin Small Ski-lift Slalom Area , small side builds with red/blue flags, not an actual slope. Snow Mobile Snacks or Ski/Snowboard stall Orange-ish border barriers Small Snow ramp (a few sloped bricks) or Halfpipe (maybe another reference to the Xtreme, see snow groomer stickers/minifig with X on torso) Tree/rock sidebuild Family car Small snowplow with worker minifig + tools.
  10. As far as extras go, there seems to be a pattern in most cases, however still not guaranteed for each part type. The most common extras I got nearly guaranteed are 1x1 plates/tiles, certain technic parts and cheese slopes/pyramid. Also something like an advent calendar seems to have extra 1x1 sized pieces in each individual bag. Magazine gifts don't seem to have any extras at all.
  11. I can understand the lack of knees on heavier mechs, as even ratchet ball joints eventually might warp under the weight/temperature shifts. Maybe not as bad as smooth ball joints, but even on those the performance varies on a per part and per use basis. Of course it's still LEGO and able to be modded.
  12. 2017 Friends had a skiing theme (which released in August) Also there was a Creator 3-in-1 small snow cabin with ski/snowboard in 2018. Creator, Friends and City have all sorts of overlap on subthemes as of recent years, like we see now with Amusement Parks and Beach sets. I don't think it's coincidence for overlap from a business standpoint, like we see this summer with the 2 bigger (€80/85) Creator (Townhouse+Cafe), and City Donut shop sets being Coffee related. Similar can be said for overlap with this year Creator Expert Lunar Lander and City Space sets. (which also relates to the 50th year of the first moon landing)
  13. They aren't even for sale yet, they just vanished from the US LEGO store website, from the only sets still on there, the 4-space minifigs show June 1st, the other sets August 1st.
  14. While I am happy for the people who like Brickheadz. I do hope they won't replace Seasonal sets for a 3rd year in a row in 2020, but can exist alongside it.
  15. Old LEGO sets' bags had little perforated holes all over it so never were truly "sealed" anyway.
  16. Possibly my nostalgia to 1998 Ninja Castle theme, which had winged Ninjas , which followed up Fright Knights. And then the criminal torso remembered me seeing a review of the Ninjago Kryptarium prison set and I had some pirate parts on hand (Pirate Rollercoaster head, Metalbeard hat, black sabre from 60th anniversary set) Ninja face is Nexo Knights Clay, with a Rogul torso/cowl, and Sky Police legs from another set. Wings/sword were again from a 60th anniversary set. For the Bat, I happened to see those parts first, and then borrowed the wings from General Garg (Nexo Knights), I didn't want to take much apart.
  17. This set really feels like a further improvement on an official alternate build for set 31066 Creator 3-in-1 from 2017. Only mistake that review has is the piece count, it's not 342 but 202.
  18. There's a vague image of a brickbuild "crater baseplate" it can stand on on the right of the box, pretty interesting to see how they'll pull that off.
  19. No food stand diners is okay I guess, as it wasn't really "unique", and LEGO has been putting small food/drink stands+bikes and cafes in recent sets. I wonder how much they'll change the Dino Skeletons set.
  20. I wouldn't mind a people pack for Farm people + small animals, or Construction workers (road/railroad/buildings), or just mixed City people (Some construction, fire, police etc with a bit different torso/head/hair/hats). But it all depends if the Space People pack is going to be a 1-time thing or not to see more job-related packs alongside regular people, as well as the new 4-packs.
  21. I don't have any Ninjago sets or this particular Polybag, however this was fun to make. Replaced Drone with Bat-Creature (head, wings and legs can move) Replaced Cop with Winged Ninja Replaced Criminal with a Captain Soto inspired Pirate figure (set 70591)
  22. Arcade Machines idea has suggested minifigs and are also somewhat minifig scaled, and could be integrated into existing City/Creator scale builds. I'm not even a huge Arcade/Sega fan, it's just in this case it's 1 of 4 to be chosen, doesn't mean the other 3 are bad. Stitch might be an "action figure" type build with moveable parts but to me still is not something I'd be interested in, but I can see the appeal of it to Disney/Lilo&Stitch fans or kids. I got other LEGO sets that fill the playable action figure role.
  23. Interesting extra voting round. For me it's easy, the Arcade as the other 3 are "display models" and not in my interest area at all.
  24. I wonder if LEGO made a mistake on their website, because the 4 new Creator 3-in-1 sets for June 2019 are listed under Creator Expert
  25. Seems to be all June 1st for Europe , just writing this to point out a region difference for this wider forum audience. Even in my country, the Rocket Transport is quite expensive at €139.99, (€129.99 in Germany)
