  1. Looks awesome! Question though, why are the pickets on the outside ring pointed toward the inner wall and not away? As is it kinda makes a ramp for the attackers to climb over or to use as their own wall from the outside. On the other hand, I can see that if attackers did climb over it, it would make it harder for them to retreat. Thoughts?
  2. I like the walls because the rough edges that are broken add good detail while the more complete wall sections don't ROCOCO themselves to death. Basically, I think you did appropriate levels of detail on the different elements.
  3. Oooh, that curved wall technique is well done. I hadn't thought to bend the 1x2 two hole technique that like to put the 2x4 tiles on them. Most impressive.
  4. Here's the redesign: Internals More Pictures https://www.flickr.com/photos/135669374@N02/albums/72157667334014653
  5. I love the guys moving into the castle. My favorite is the guy looking at the box of books as I totally relate to the terror on the guys face. Too many days helping move people with too many books.
  6. Thanks. I started working with the panels to see what options they could provide and ended up building this. I'm glad that although it is really small it was able to convey that feeling. I'll see what I can do in the next version. Hopefully Lego does make a Arab Knight though I worry everyone will beat me to the store and get them first. I'll just have to be faster. Thanks, the internals turned out interesting as well. Just wait for the next version of this. Thanks, they were good inspiration. Thanks! I have worked on another version of this and I will post it soon. We'll see which one you all like better.
  7. Micro Eastern Palace The difficult part of this creation was getting the thin columns between the windows and the larger column. I had to turn some panel pieces on their side and create some interesting internals to get the pieces to stay together. To me this build isn't the most exciting but I did have to use some crazy building techniques to get the different setup. Comments on the technique?
  8. I always have a hard time with the rock mountains. Yours looks great so far. I also like the dimensions and ratios of the castle.
  9. Lesson learned: don't mess with the Ents. Looks good!
  10. I like the halberd made from the spear and ax.
  11. I agree. They tend to be pretty expensive and you have to spend all of the time looking for the right one.
  12. Close enough to smell it's breath... I like the textured look. I'd love to see the next version if you expand on this when you have more time and pieces. This turned out well.
  13. I like the colors you chose for the minifigures. They fit in really nicely. Solid build overall.
  14. As has been said the tree technique is excellent. I'm not sure how I feel about the eye's on the ground. Are they blooms that fell to the ground? Or does the ground keep an eye or two on that tree since it is so toxic?
  15. Ooooh, I like. These factions are my two favorite castle factions and you did a good job improving that chess set.
  16. The river took a ton of my 1 round pieces that I had in those colors. Glad to know the effect came off so well. The spikes is part of what inspired me to make the well. I originally was going to use them for a micro mountain but this came instead. I might still try it though. Thanks. The roots where a particularly interesting part to make. I had to dig up all of my brown angle technic pieces and I even had to scavenge from one of my other trees. The red flowered foliage was a cool trick that I learned from a member of the local AFOL group. They used grass pieces and the unbroken flower pieces to build the bush. Worked great here. The tree was a result of me trying to see how tight I could curve Lego bricks in a castle tower. I decided to try the brown pieces since they don't have sharp corners. After I started, I found it worked great for a tree so this tree was the result of it. Well, it isn't one of your basic green frogs now is it...
  17. This is the finished project for my recent experiments with working with natural landscapes. I wanted a little bit of a castle feel (as that is my preferred theme) but the focus was definitely to depict a beautiful forest and stream. More pictures can be found here.
  18. The only problem that I see with this is now I have to find something worth $50 that I want to buy... hope the PAB wall has some good stuff.

  20. Maybe? I figured it was more castle themed so by the subtitle "The castle MOCers paradise" I figured this was where to put it. Is there a way to move it?
  21. I created a scene from Brandon Sanderson's book, the Way of Kings. This scene takes place during the prelude to the book 4000 years before the actual story and is the pivotal point of that world's history. If you have never read the book, I recommend it as a good but long read. (It's a good audio book for long commutes). If you would like to just read the prelude you can find it here:
  22. Lol, yea they are pretty stupid. I guess that's why they need our brains. I added a couple more pictures but there are more on my flickr feed if you are interested.
  23. I created this moc for an upcoming display for my local LUG. Basically the story is: The zombies are destroying the world (insert archetypal end of world situation.) However, in a remote part of the North American desert, a small research facility had become a haven for a small group of survivors. Guarded by the extreme heat of the sun and desolate desert, they had live secluded from the extreme destruction across the world caused by the outbreak of the zombie epidemic. Here they live striving day in and day out to find the cure. By now, the zombies have infected most of the major cities and smaller towns of the world and were running out of people to feed upon. Desperate for new prey, the zombies have begun wandering to the more remote parts of the wilderness to discover, by chance, hidden populations to infect. One day while out to collect supplies for the research, one of the men is discovered by a band of zombies and in a panic to escape, he retreats and is followed to the research facility, revealing the hideout's location to the zombies. Will the Untouched Laboratory meet its end? There are more images on my flickr feed. You can get to the album by clicking the first 2 pictures.
