  1. Oddly enough I’d still probably buy that.
  2. I love that we’re all desperate to find out what it will be like kids on Christmas Eve looking at the wrapped boxes under the tree. Lets be honest, whatever it is, most of us will buy it and love parts of it and not so much other parts. I just hope it comes in at a price I can afford as I’ve been a bit greedy these past couple of months.
  3. I’m quite keen to see a car repair garage actually. I think it has the capacity to have a really interesting interior with some well designed features. In the end, most of us just display them, not play as it were so it’s got to appeal visually first, right?
  4. I’m in the process of dismantling all my modulars etc and can confirm that the shipping weights are way over the actual weight of the bricks. I’m gonna guess that the 3.9 kilo is more realistic. My DD comes in at a fair bit below 3 kg excluding instruction book. Take into account box and I’m guessing that makes the difference. The 6 kg might be another landmark building in the Big Ben and tower bridge range.
  5. Yep. Saw that. Have resisted the creator expert vehicles but this might just turn my head. Has to be a 65/66 classic though, none of this retro modern stuff. The pink ‘thing’ in the diner, i actually like. Now the black POS with the Cinema, what was that all about? That was a part count bump up, and a poor design to boot.
  6. Much as I love Discworld and Terrys work in general, I don’t think it has the draw at the age group Lego is mostly aimed for. I’m also not sure how well it would work, as in my mind at least, there’s barely a straight edge in Ankh Morpork.
  7. Yeah true. But that’s retiring and we’ve got 2 restaurants already. Just a thought anyhow.
  8. With the reference to music and police it brings to mind a prohibition era speakeasy kinda thing. I don’t know how realistic this is but could have interesting ‘play’ features hiding the booze and gambling tables etc.
  9. With pet shop being 2*16 wide, don’t count this sort of thing out as a future ´correction’ to the block, perhaps as an extra ´mini’ Modular.
  10. That’s really good. No extra pieces used? I miss B models.
  11. I’d love to see the results of that Art Deco refit. I agree that the PC is the weakest of the currently available modulars, but it is representative of a number of cinemas I’ve seen on my travels across the USA, although LAs graumans is clearly the lead inspiration.
  12. I’ve seen 40262 for sale just yesterday in a toy shop in the uk. They may be left overs from last year, of course, but these mini sets tend to sell out. Maybe it was so popular they’re brining it back for another year.
  13. To be honest, you really can’t see the cable between the two that much. If it truly bothers you, I would be looking to build connectors underneath the hitch point for the tender somehow, but this would make it quite challenging in such a small build.
  14. Certainly Parisian Restaurant, although I though the cinema had already been retired, so perhaps if funds allowed, you might want to squeeze both in, as they equally have charms. I think the cinema can be made much better inside for very little outlay too.
  15. You only have to look at some of the fantastic fairground MOCs out there to see that there’s at least another 10-15 sets without repeating. Dodgems, haunted houses, drop tower, octopus, chair swings, bungee launchers. I’m quite looking forward to seeing how far they take it. Makes me slightly annoyed I missed the fairground mixer now.
  16. Admittedly a number of years ago, I did see a merchandising plan for a Lego store, for November of that year, back in the summer, and it showed model numbers and names on each placeholder. So perhaps there is a grain of truth in the rumours. It had been left on the check out desk, as the manager had been called to deal with a customer. I would expect Lego store staff to be more secure than this nowadays, however, with the cheap copycat spy’s lurking about.
  17. Hmm. Possibly. I meant to say that this is the shop at home site.
  18. Hi all in the Swiss Lego store, there seems to be a really odd price occurring. I noticed this with the luggage tags. 5005582 hot dog guy luggage tag. CHF 9.90. 5005580 banana guy luggage tag. CHF 79.00. for those of you in euros, that’s about 8.50 for one and 69.00 for the other. USD is about the same as CHF. GBP is 7.99 for one and 65.00 for the other. Odd no?
  19. I wonder if this is a hark back to the fake leak we had last year I think, in which a good mock up of a box was seen with a complete, if ugly looking gas station was shown. I’ll try to remind the picture. This is the one I mean.
  20. First of all then, don’t we need a police station to catch the crooks. After all, the detective just seems concerned with the cookie smuggling, and there’s money laundering going on over at the bank. Someone Call th cops.
  21. I’ve done a few modular style buildings in the same method as you, although I rarely get round to buying the bricks to keep them. I start with an architectural style, and an idea of what business is going on the ground floor. This often determines if the first and second floors are linked or separate, for example, my current project is a Miami South Beach Art Deco style Hotel, which the ground floors invariably had a restaurant as well as reception. Therefore the top two floors have to be linked to the ground floor main business. I then move on to the footprint, and build up from there, using photos as references. I tend to build the shell of the building first, and then adjust it to add in interior walls and features.
  22. I beg to differ. I certainly grew up in the midlands of the U.K.,with the fire brigade brining Santa round on a ´sleigh’ trailer behind the engine. They collected change for presents for sick kids and those in care. They also do something similar in some towns where I live in Switzerland too.
  23. That’s absolutely fabulous. Totally has the look and feel of a fairground ride, including the slightly jerky motion I remember as a kid. The scenes are very cool and I admire the attention to the little details too. Can’t wait to see what falls out on your next fairground build.
