Great Brick War General Discussion Thread
Leonardo da Bricki replied to TheBeeze's topic in The Great Brick War
@Thebeeze111 You mentioned the additional GBW tag in the new campaign, but I have not received the first tag from participating Campaign 1. Is it still possible for me to receive that tag?- 315 replies

It's very nice, but I think you should try to replicate the original color scheme as much as possible. Steering mechanism is excellent though.

[GBW] - FRAGO 01 - Filace- A Day at the Beach

Nice build, I really like the RHIB, its very accurate. -
Upon receiving word from its intelligence network that Spriznulo lost not just one, but both its drones, the Toohatian government immediately deployed search teams to all corners of the nation, and mobilized every member of its intelligence network in and outside its borders. A coded message was received at 19:38 hours: "Asset #32A-461 reports seeing an explosion upon the eastern flank of Mt. Salvera [G5] at 19:17 hours. No fire, but a heat plume was visible with IR. Good hunting." At once, the nearest ground troops were driven in to begin searching the mountain, but due to adverse weather conditions, helicopters were unable to complete an infrared scan of the eastern mountain side. However, it was confirmed that the transponder is working and is transmitting a signal, though it's location has not yet been pinpointed. In addition, since aircraft are grounded, troops have been organized into patrols and deployed on foot into Aratore National Forest, beginning at 20:45 hours... Sgt. Leo: "Frosty, I'm receiving a signal from a transponder. It's weak, but signal strength increases with altitude. We'll have to climb to find it." Pvt. Frostrier: "Up we go then. I see nothing on IR yet, but the trees are thinner, so it should show up from farther. Radio CC-1 for instructions." Sgt. Leo: "CC-1, this is Brick, do you read?" CC-1: "Command reads you 5-by-5. Report." Sgt. Leo: "Altitude 5381, and the signal is getting stronger going up to the northwest. I think it crashed near the summit. Frosty is with me, we're climbing towards the signal. Next report when we reach altitude 6000, or locate the signal source. Trees are getting thinner, hope to have IR visual soon. Brick out." CC-1: "Command gives all-clear, proceed toward signal with all haste. Good hunting." FRAGO 1 Here's another pic. To the judges: this really is not how I wanted this build to be, but life happens, and this is all I could finish. Hope you like it! Thanks for looking! - Leonardo da Bricki

Definitely. Not. A. Ship. Looks nice, but totally not what you usually build. At least tell me there is a decorative fountain, or something. When's the big reveal?
-
Nice to see this is finally finished. However, the back portion still seems to be rather skeletal, but maybe adding a spare tire would resolve the issue. Also, you have to choose to edit the very first post of the topic, and it should let you change the topic title there.

@Offroadcreat1ons Thanks for rendering our ideas! I think this is a great improvement, will you change the real model? Also, thanks for sharing the LDD.

Good performance from this buggy. I second Didumos69, a black rollcage might look better, as it would provide some contrast. And I especially like the slow-motion crash!

This was just a quick weekend project. I am fond of the 42037 set, as it was one the sets that got me interested in Technic. So, I decided to try to do it some justice, and I motorized it, first with an L-motor, which wasn't great, then with an XL-motor, which was about the same, then with 2 L-motors, which was the best. Then, I got a buggy motor. And since I had just taken apart a failed battlebot, and the buggy motor was lying there, begging to be used, I decided to use it. I rebuilt my 42037 Formula Off-Roader, with a few changes, which are as follows: 1. Changed the colors from light bley/med blue/lime/black to black/white/lime. 2. Removed the inline-4 fake engine. 3. Added full motorization, buggy motor for drive, servo for steering, AA battery box with a V2 receiver. 4. Bodywork changed a bit to fit the new colors and cover the gap left from removing the fake engine. And a light bar was added, because I didn't like the round spotlights. 5. Very minor, but I changed the rear shocks attachment point on the rear suspension arms, they were moved out one more stud than shown in the instructions, in order to have better travel and not be under compression, which was an issue in the original model. If anyone is interested, here is the LDD file instructions! Anyway, I know you're all tired of my rambling, so, with out further ado, I present to you the 42037 Ultimate Racing Buggy! 42037 F 42037 FQR It has easy access to the battery box, both to replace it and to turn it on and off. 42037 FQL The suspension is great, one of the best parts of the original set, which I kept and slightly improved. 42037 Mod 42037 FQR-s The source of power and speed! The almighty BUGGY MOTOR! 42037 Rear The required photo of the underside. The wheelbase and chassis are the same dimensions as the original set, though the buggy motor hangs out the back by a couple studs. 42037 Chassis I hope to make a video soon, but it started raining after I took photos, so maybe in a few days. But finals are coming up, so it may take some time. I will also add some cutaway photos soon, for anyone who wants to replicate my mod. Or, use the LDD file instructions. Thanks for looking at this, please give C&C, ask questions. More on my Flickr. - Leonardo da Bricki

Nice improvements, but I think the spoiler should remain red, with just the seats being yellow. Or you could add a yellow stripe up the middle.

Excellent buggy, it looks good, but IMHO, try to limit yourself to 2 colors in addition to black and white, just so it looks a bit more coordinated. Can you add an underside and straight rear photo so we can advise on the suspension?

Just saw this topic, what a beautiful crane! The cabin looks amazing, and the crane arm appears to be very sturdy.

A good start. How much travel does the front suspension have? Because at such a shallow angel, the travel is reduced by quite a bit. However, I do like that you added positive caster. Is it very sturdy like that, or does it wobble, because I have had that issue with a few of my buggies before.
