  1. I don't get your hate for that model.. I thought it was nice... He marketed it and promoted it better and that is why it won.. I am sure the designers from Lego are going to make improvements to it to make it even nicer...
  2. You better watch out that Lego doesn't find out who you are... They might send you a box full of Duplo bricks...
  3. LOL... Yeah, I know... i guess this is something that is expected...
  4. This is what gets me... When I had to fill out all of the paperwork for the Charity auction, there was a question that said "What participation or resources, if any, do you request from Make-A-Wish?" And I answered "Just some online promotional help"... Now if Make-A-Wish was never going to offer any regardless because they said that they don't Pick and choose favorites, then why would they even bother to ask this question in the first place..? They only seem to send out tweets when celebrities are involved in some type of fundraiser or some big corporation gives away $1,000s of dollars to charity, which is great, but what about the little poor nobodies like me...? All I wanted was a simple twitter message sent out...
  5. Unbelievable... I talk to 12 year old kids from various parts of the world who act much more mature than this...
  6. It's not just Eurobricks, but everyone in general... Technic isn't really recognized as Lego with the casual fans and doesn't have minifigures and just isn't as popular as regular system building... I can't even get Make-A-Wish to help promote this(Not even a tweet on twitter) and it is for their Charity... My only break was geting this featured on Wired, but that site moves so fast that things get buried easily... A few friends from different corners of the Globe have been helping me promote this...
  7. The only way that this contest could be proven as "Rigged" is if the winning model received one or more votes by the same person...
  8. I am pretty hardcore into Lego as most everyone here is, and I know that when you refer to Lego in a plural form that you are supposed to say "Lego Bricks" or "Lego Elements", but in my opinion, there is nothing more pathetic then when you attend a Lego show and overhear someone publically bash and correct another person over the proper way to use the word "Lego" in it's proper plural form... I think I have heard someone do this at every show that I have ever attended... This is really no different than attending a car show with your spouse/friend and saying to them "Wow can you believe how many Fords there are here?" And then some dork appears out of nowhere and says. "those are not Fords, they are Ford Cars, please use the word the right way"
  9. $140 for this set is crazy talk... It is a nice set, but in no way shape or form worth $140... Toys R Us are a bunch of crooks... I don't understand how they can sell these sets so far above and beyond their actual retail price... My wife was looking at some of those new Ninja Turtle sets in the store and they were selling the Turtle hideout for $69.99 when it is supposed to be $49.99 and that ugly turtle van was $79.99 when it was supposed to be $59.99.... The only time Toys R Us was cool with me was when they were running the buy one get 50% off deals, but then they started raising the prices on the Technic set to the point where you really were not even saving anything as you were just about getting them at the regular price with the BOGO and then they stopped including Technic in that deal altogether... Back in 2011 they were running it every other week and in 2012, I don;t think Technic was included ever...
  10. The problem is just as much the loose fitting as it is the fact that the 3 snaps on the hub don't secure the wheel as tightly as they do as the old black hub and the older black hubs are just as friction free as these new ones with much less play in them... I just think these things could have been designed better...
  11. I like the new hub parts too, but there are a reasons why you are not seeing the problem with them... The 42000 doesn't have cv joints connected to the steering hubs which is from what I found a real problem because when the wheels are steered in just a normal range, the CV joint begins to bind with the hub much too quickly and then that in combination with the loose fitting pins to the wheel and Hubs to the hub housing cause an extremely noticable effect... There is a very fine line between how far the wheels can be steered before this binding occurs with the CV joints and unfortunately that point right before the binding occurs doesn't seem to steer the wheels quite enough...
  12. All orange with black or white stripes would be cool as well...Reintroduce some of those ultra rare 9L and 11L liftarms...
  13. It wasn't that Lego didn't like Mahjqa's model, it was retired early at Cuusoo because it came from a mature or R-rated background.. Dluders, for as much as I am sure eveyone would love to see this happen, I don't think it is going to happen since the price tag would be high...
  14. I have only built one model from instructions since the 8448 came out in 1999 and it was Nathanael's Concept Car.. I would HIGHLY recommend building either this or his Pony Car over the Vampire GT.... Even though the Concept car uses older parts, they are all fairly easy to obtain... And both of those models are as close to official as you can get... The Vampire GT is alright, but not quite at the level of the design of those 2 models...
  15. They say the same exact thing when you submit a model to Cuusoo... But until they actually throw one of my models into a box and slap a Lego logo on it, instructions will be(and have been) available for them...
  16. Does anyone know(or remember) what the retail cost of the 853/956 was back in the 70's..? I faintly remember seeing the prices of the Technic sets in the Sears Christmas catalogs in the late 70's early 80's and from what I recall they were expensive even back then.. But I may be wrong.. That was 30+ years ago...
  17. Just wanted to pop in and say wow. I knew this had to be possible...
  18. Really Cool..! I worked with one of these when I was in Drafting Class in highschool....
  19. I think this contest would have been more interesting if there were different categories to which each model was rated on a scale from 1-10, like Originality, Build Technique, cost, ect... And that was factored into the winning submission... But I suppose they just want to keep it simple...
  20. Without a doubt the wider base is hiding the wiggle of the front wheels when steered.. I built the steering suspension into a 23 stud wide symetrically Parrallel module and built a chassis around it and when steered left or right, the front wheels wobbled more than I was expecting... This was with the 81.6 x 36 size tires.. Like you mentioned above, the smaller tires 68.8 x 36 don't have this issue...
  21. You know... Without the stickers applied, one would think that Marlboro was the sponser of this Race Car...
  22. The friction from those pins when using the Hard Spring shock (the yellow one) is unnoticeable... And the fact that those pins do have friction securely holds the liftarms together... The friction from the pin isn't a factor with any of the suspensions that I've built so far... But of course everyone is entitled to their own preferences and opinions.. I don't know what is up with the black hubs... I have had issues in the past too where some of the black hubs seemed to have more friction than other ones did... The balls from the steering hubs must be a micro millimeter larger than the regular ball pins..
  23. I am not 100% certain, but I think those old style 8 tooth ones were designed to be used with those old plates with the holes in them as they fit in the center of the 4 studs over the hole.. Edit: LOL.. I was typing this up as you posted that...
  24. I agree with this 100%... I have talked to many people who designed mechanisms and models in CAD and when they attempted to build them, there were things that were overlooked and they just didn't work... In CAD liftarms, connectors, and axles are the same size, but in the reality they are not...
