Concept for new Technic parts
Paul Boratko replied to D3K's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I would like to see this perpendicular connector with 2 axle holes instead of one axle hole and one pin hole... The only problem is that Lego would probably make it in bright pink so people wouldn't confuse it with a traditional one when following instructions because I know people have used it with the axle hole in the wrong places thus preventing an axle from turning... -

You know, the thing about you is that you are still so young and are building things that are already blowing minds... I can't even imagine what you'll be creating in the future... -

Looks like you need a couple black friction pins for the mirrors and a few black bushings... Shoot me an e-mail... -
Eric, is there anyway that we can find a loophole and start our own LUG even though we are 2,500 miles apart..? We'll call it TechLUG... There are some other key guys around the country to represent... Al we need is a website with a forum right..? I like to think that we are doing the best that we can to represent Technic here in the states...

Plagariarism at Brickfair

Yes, you are correct, Scott started the entire event off with problems... I know he had no bad intent as I said earlier and he is a great guy, there was absolutely nothing malicious that he was trying to do other than help gain some awareness for Technic by displaying some great models... Britton's Brickhouse was there displaying official Technic models from all through the years both past and present, overall together we had a great Technic display for the Public... Which in the U.S. is pretty rare... -
I remember years ago ordering the Styling packs 10 at a time... I had silver panels coming out of my ears... I can't even imagine how awesome that it would be to be able to order new styling packs with all panel fairings and all sizes of Flex axles in Orange, Blue, Green, etc... Lego REALLY needs to bring these parts packs back again... They were EXTREMELY useful for building models... These would sell like hotcakes...

Lego technic challenge 2012

These 2 points are exactly what I was thinking as well... The original 9398 Crawler is probably going to be around for quite some time... -

I had a feeling this might turn into a problem... As soon as Scott took this piece out of the box to display it, I knew that it was Nico's model and believe me, Scott didn't deny it, nor did he make any attempt to pass it off as his own... Looking back now, he probably should have unchecked the "MOC not available to be chosen for award" box when he registered it... It also should have included something saying where the instructions for it could be found and who the original designer was... Technic is not very popular over here in the United States and I would say that 99.99% of the attendees at Brickfair(as well as the public spectators) had never seen that model before and I certainly wasn't going to make a big fuss over it... I was happy that I actually got to see the model in person... I also don't think that Ian, who was in charge of the Technic/Mindstorms had any clue that it belonged to someone other than the guy who brought it... Ian was more involved in the Mindstorms theme and helping with the GBC... I am not sure if he nominated the 4 models that the attendees voted on or not... I too got an e-mail last night from Martin and as he requested, I passed it on along to Todd and Ian... -
We drew black axle lengths(shortest axle picked last) to determine the picking order with a snake draft: #1 guys picks, then second, then 3rd, then 4th gets 2 picks, then 3rd, then second, then first gets 2 picks, etc... and we kept it simple, for example, all 4(or 8 if you will) of the portal axle and hubs were in one group to be picked at once, all 4 unimog tires were in another, each motor was separate, all of the 15L liftarms were together, if there were parts where there was only a few, then we agreed to place them into a another group... The one we did at Brickfair was very fun...

Lego technic challenge 2012

This is pretty interesting... I am certain that much criteria will be in place after a model is selected and there will be extensive testing made to be certain that the model has no imperfections with design/playability... There are more than likely going to be a ton of submissions with ideas that belong to other builders... Sheepo's Land Rover could probably win this, but I don't think that is exactly what they are looking for... -
I heard earlier this spring that a new Ninja Turtles line was going to be taking over once the Ninjago phases out, but they were not going to start showing up until late 2013/early 2014...
