100% on board with your every single word. Speaking of how much more alert one is with paper versus screen, I've been working in the translation industry for 18 years and I know for a fact that not a single revisor, editor or proof-reader worth their salt is ever going to work on a major literary project (major in terms of artistic quality, not in terms of sales) on screen. When you work on screen your mind struggles horribly to keep up with all the intratextual links that keep the text together - and these links are arguably what separate quality writing from quantity writing.

[WIP] Ute supercar

I'm just gonna follow this thread in awe Same when you start your next project, Nicjasno. You guys always break new ground -
Running more tests on the carrier while I wait for my parts to be delivered. Since I expect to make the superstructure lighter, too, I switched to 4 L motors (geared down 9:1), used more frames and fewer beams and managed to shave off another hectogram ( ). I was able to move the front and back panels back one stud and added a ladder. And just for laughs, this is what the carrier would look like in black and with dual tracks

I've found out that the only way to pry a proper answer out of them now is to fire vitriol. -

Love it And it's great to see you building again! -
@Bartybum To your point, though (if I understood correctly), there are new and highly sought-after components that are (relatively) easy to integrate into existing or WIP builds, and TLG capitalises on them ana... uh, brilliantly by making them immediately available at extortionate prices. Think of the 20T clutch gear and the new driving ring extension when they came out, or the new XL actuator which sells for €10 a piece.

42110 - Land Rover Defender

I think Paul Boratko explained how gearboxes built using connectors instead of beams are very prone to unwanted friction since it's really hard to make the holes line up perfectly. In essence, you can follow the instructions to a T but you can't really account for that extra fraction of a millimeter between two connectors that throws the whole transmission off. Frustrating, I know. -
Having tested the hell out of my four-motor prototye and tweaked it for torsional rigiditiy (not really necessary but OCD rules), I've started prepping the carrier. Stuck here until I get my grubby mitts on the actual set due to not having the sprockets and other parts in DBG. Also hoping someone with some sense of aesthetics (rules me out, of course) comes up with a mod for the side panels on the tracks - the set's panels are execrable.

It might if you completely re-engineered it with a 8043-style gearbox and a backhoe shovel, but the performance would likely be pretty dismal.
