I think the only real issue with this rerelease is that the original version has only been out of print for a year. If they did a re-release of the UCS MF the only people that would be complaining would be the scalpers, given the long period it's been unavailable. Frankly I'm kind of grateful the set hasn't changed much as I don't have to negotiate with my wife to try and get the new version. Given I already have a lot of updated minifigs from other sets I'm not going to get this identikit version, but hopefully at some stage in the future they'll release a genuinely new version incorporating some of the Rogue One scenes from the upcoming film.

You're right about the bangs bookending season 2 but I felt there were too many weak, filler episodes compared to season 1 which had more of a tight story arc to it (I think being restricted to Lothal actually helped there). Season 2 had more "planet of the week" style stories and suffered for it. Also I doubt Ashoka is dead. Ever since Maul survived being cut in half I am now patiently waiting for Biggs and Tarkin to reappear after the Battle of Yavin!

I'll be a bit disappointed if the design remains more or less identical with just a few updates and modifications, as I won't be able to justify buying it given I own the 2008 version! I would have preferred they got rid of some of the more useless stuff from the first version like the Tie Advanced "microfighter" that doesn't scale well with the rest of the set and tried something new. I do like the sound of the minifig lineup though. I'm anticipating that the doubles will be stormtroopers, Emperor's guards and one of the Gunners or Death Star troopers. While some are disappointed with only two stormtroopers you can always stick a helmet on Han and/or Luke in disguise or buy some Battlepacks to make up the difference.

After further reviewing the book I've decided this will be a Christmas present for my 8 year old...the builds are just too basic and small to be of real interest to an AFOL but I think there are some great pointers for kids in there. Obviously with that in mind I haven't built the microfighter but it looks about the same level of detail as the other microfighter sets if that is your main interest. One fun thing about reading the book is that you can tell what sets the designer owns based on the minifig selection in his builds (hint: Boba Fett features arm printing!).

Given that Lepin has already managed to rush a ripoff of the Disney Castle to market I'm pretty sure Lego is legitimately keen to keep high-res images of future sets under wrap, but I think they should just accept that once the images have been leaked the cat is out of the bag...asking people to remove the images from websites then is not going to stop anyone interested from finding them (including competitors/cheap Chinese knockoff firms).

I just got this book today. I'm not really interested in the included microfighter but here's my thoughts on the book itself: It's pretty much based on the OT era with a tiny bit of PT built in (there's a page about podracers). There are a bunch of minibuilds set on Tattoine, Hoth, Bespin and Endor, plus a rebel base. There are no real spacecraft builds featured but plenty of smaller vehicles. Some of these are quite interesting but others have been produced so often in genuine sets (eg snowspeeders) that including them here seems like a waste of space. The book is clearly targeting younger builders and most of the techniques featured are pretty basic. There are a few useful examples (I really liked the Jawa's junk shop) but quite a bit of stuff that while fun wouldn't work too well with a "serious" take on the SW universe (a BBQ, podium for Pod Race winners, "Hoth" tub etc etc). The photography is excellent as I most DK books. Overall I'd say kids will get the most fun out of this book but some stuff might be of interest to AFOLs.

I can't say the build in any of the sets stand out for me - the minfigs are the clear standout. So many great Imperial designs plus lots of rebels that could double as galactic citizens on fringe worlds.I'm tempted to wait until next year's sets before committing though, as no doubt a lot of these figures will be replicated in other sets. At this stage only the hovertank and possibly the shuttle stand out for me.

I'm only getting the Landspeeder if there's a Bantha in the set. Would love to see a Moss Eisley UCS set for the 40th anniversary of the original Star Wars, but that's probably less likely than a Cloud City set looking at the history of Lego Star Wars...

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
TeufelHund replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
That trailer was great - even my wife has decided she wants to see the movie and the kids were disappointed it wouldn't be on until next year. Looking forward to seeing some of the sets too - a Batcave with the rotating costumes would be awesome but probably way too much to hope for... -
Is there supposed to be a CMF series coming out based on the Lego Batman movie? I can't imagine there will be too many more new figure ideas to mine with that along with 13 Batman movie sets!

Firstly, it's obvious some time has passed in Rebels because Ezra has had a serious growth spurt and we know that there were already prototypes of the Interceptors around anyway. Secondly, it may be the Death Star was only equipped with standard Ties as a huge heavily armed space station it was (wrongly) considered imperious to damage from small fighters. Finally, who cares if the time line is a bit out of whack as long as we get a minifigure scale Tie Interceptor model?

Reminds me of the old joke about why New Zealanders always herd their sheep near cliffs...because the sheep always push back from the edge!

This has been my cheapest year since coming full time out of my Dark Ages in 2010. I've literally made more money selling Lego than I've spent on it this year! Like many here my favourite lines are the Historical settings like Pirates, Castle and Western, although I also enjoy Superheroes and Star Wars. Apart from a few SW sets there's been nothing to celebrate so far this year. I was looking forward to the Classic Batcave and Assault on Hoth, but both were a big letdown (although the Batcave minifigs are nice). I guess the Ghostbusters HQ is a good set, but I'm not so much of a fan that I'd splash out that kind of money. Same with Big Ben. I already have a Death Star so the new version will have to be amazing to peak my interest. I guess next year I'll see if my interest is revitalised or if it's in terminal decline.

Ha - I was looking forward to seeing Hannibal Lector in his cell or something similar...very good. Maybe change the torso to something a bit more redneck (ala Deliverance) and it would be perfect.

REVIEW: 5004419 - Classic Knights Minifigure
TeufelHund replied to Adeel Zubair's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'm not very keen on this set - it's just nostalgia for its own sake. I preferred the Pirates set from last year as it least there was a new torso print and some interesting and useful parts to be had. It would have been nice to see a modern interpretation of a classic knight rather than what seems to be pretty much a straight copy IMO.- 21 replies

I guess it's nice enough and does capture the "classic castle" feel, but I preferred the Pirates set from last year where the minifig actually fitted well with the other Pirates figures released that year and the set itself had a lot of useful parts ("real" gold bar/pieces, foliage, new shark etc). The "build" in this set doesn't contain any useful parts and looks pretty ordinary and the fig is not a great match for either Nexo Knights or any recent castle themes.

I like most of these sets - probably the smallest and largest are most attractive to me as I am mainly interested in Imperial stuff and already have an ATST and don't fancy the weird tie-variant much (although the minifigs in that set are pretty good). If you're only interested in minifigs then it's probably worth holding fire till next year as no doubt a lot of these (especially new trooper-variants and the heroine) will be in battlepacks and other sets in the January 2017 wave. One thing I don't like is the lack of OT stormies since they featured so prominently in the trailer. It would have been nice of TLG to throw one in with a few of the sets like they have with a lot of the Rebels sets.

Can't say I care much for this. The ship is ok I guess but I only collect Imperial stuff so not of much interest to me but the minifig selection is a bit baffling. Sato and Ashoka are fine and maybe one repeat figure ala Chopper/Ezra might be ok (two is stretching it), but what on earth is Kallus doing there, especially with his combat helmet on? Seventh Sister would have made the set much more desirable and would at least have made a bit of sense given how often she crosses sabers with Ashoka, but otherwise I would have liked to see a generic rebel or two rather than a nonsensical token Imperial.

A thing of beauty...I'm humming the Imperial March just looking at it. Obviously workplace safety is not a big issue for the Imperials given that some figures have literally "fallen though the cracks" to their doom! Well played sir...well played.
-
There's already a Hasbro figure with the bloody helmet and Lego printing is pretty good I'm sure they could manage it - two streaks would be fine as in the movie it doesn't look much like a handprint anyway. EDIT: I just saw a video review of Assault on Hoth. I looks like a great playset (so many missles...) which kids will love. Unfortunately I can't see too many getting this due to the premium pricetag! For AFOLs it's very disappointing. TLG have misjudged the market badly for this one.

Kanan's Speederbike isn't in the current AU catalog so my guess is it isn't coming to retail here (it's horribly overpriced at $60 anyway when there's less to the finished set than the current $45 RRP SW range). I got it from Amazon.de after my in-laws sent me a gift certificate and I can't really recommend it. The bike is huge and Kanan can't even hold the handles (they're too high). The Imperial crates are quite nice but the Imperial bike guy is just a recolour of the ATDP pilot. I think I've seen the Simpsons' house around this year (Toyworld or Toys R US perhaps). No Scooby Doo for a while but they're still on S@H so another drop may be incoming. -
I just pulled out some Star Wars stuff that hadn't been played with for a while for my kids and noticed that more than a couple of the figures had "loose" arms. When I raised the arms there were splits running from the base of the torso under the arm. They were all fine when I packed them away less than a year ago. I've noticed this before from time to time, but only ever on individual minifigs - never on a bunch at once. All those affected are probably 6-7 years old. I'm wondering if this means storing the torsos and legs separately is the best way to go?
-
That would be nice - although given in the relatively recent past we got an awesome Lego Medieval Village with around the same number of pieces for half the price of this abomination just makes me sad...D2C sets should be for adults - after all there aren't many kids who'll have the pocket money for something like this so what's the point.

This is going to be my cheapest year for Lego since I came out of my Dark Ages full-time in about 2010. I've actually sold more Lego this year than I've bought. Outside of Star Wars TLG have not produced one set I'm really interested in this year. Certainly not a D2C set. I had high hopes for the classic Batcave but apart from the figures that's a huge letdown. I'll grant the Ghostbusters HQ is nice but I'm not a huge fan so can't stomach the price. I don't play Mindcraft and can't understand why my 8 year old loves it so much but this one is a no-brainer for me - please try harder TLG!

It's always possible that Rey is the child/clone of a Sith (Sideous would be the obvious candidate although perhaps she's a bit too young to have been conceived naturally by him).
