I'm sure my kids will love these sets but they make my eyes bleed - so bright and colourful and not at all medieval. 2016 Is looking like a cheap year for me at the moment. So far I've only seen a couple of small SW sets that tickle my fancy. Of course, knowing my luck Lego will bring out a killer UCS Pirate set or a fantastic Doctor Who range to screw up my plans...

The battlepacks look nice. Battlescared troopers + the new imperial hat in black is cool and the rebels set offers some good variety. I can live without an ughnaut and already have a couple of Bobas and frozen Hans so Carbon chamber's a pass for me. I like Kanan's speeder - the ATDP pilot in the right colour is welcome and it looks like there are enough blasters there to arm all the troppers in this year's battlepack properly if you want. Hoth attack looks pretty dull. No interest in anything else - did you find any non-SW sets in the cache?

Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!

My local Big W had them - they were marked $20 but scanned at $28. It was closing time so I couldn't be bothered arguing over what the correct price was so I put it back. Only the DVDs (not Blu Rays) have the bonus fig. -
I quite like the First Order stormtrooper designs and variants but the crew and officers don't do much for me. Those hats make them look like mouseketeers! I suspect Kylo Ren's head will have a mask print on one side if you want to go with the hooded variation - the chunky helmet is for a "hood off" look. The snowspeeder and shuttle look a bit too blocky with all the studs up for my taste - the transporter is probably the stand out set (also great minifigs). I quite like Rey's shuttle too and the colour scheme on the new Tie is growing on me. I got a little burnt buying Episode I Hasbro figs before I saw the movie though so I'm going to be a bit more cautious this time round!

Looks like something my 7 year old would build - good thing he's the target market!

BigW Canberra City had all the new stuff in. SW Final Duel was $114. They already had a few city/Junior sets marked at $20 for the sale. Also had some tall yellow Creator tubs of mixed pieces left for $20 + the big Juniors Castle tub was knocked down to $40. There's 10% off storewide voucher floating around for the upcoming weekend if anyone is interested. -

Perhaps it's not coming to Australia or may pop up as a retailer exclusive, given its absence from the local catalog. I go to Germany quite often and sometimes sets that are exclusives here are everywhere there so there is likely not much consistency between markets. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion

Nice - probably get the Flyman, Gargoyle, Phantom, Banshee and all the Zombies. More if the kids/wife want anything. -

Star Wars Rebels Ghost is now available from Target for more than 50% off RRP at $64. That's my oldest son's Xmas sorted! -

If anyone is interested in a Pirate's Chess set I have one NISB I bought to get over the $200 free delivery threshold off S@H. Will be happy with RRP. I live in Canberra if anyone wants to pick up. PM me. -
The cyberman looks great. I'm assauming the other thing is supposed to be a dalek...the less said the better. :-(

I like it - but would like it even more if the minifgures were more generic medieval style Japanese figures (ninjas, samurai, peasants, dayimo etc)...the Ninjago figures do nothing for me although my eldest son is already planning how to display it with his Battle of Ninjago city temple.

That torso is exceedingly nice - I love the little treasure map holder on the back. The rest of the set is nothing special however, so I'm not sure it will be worth tracking down on the secondary market as there's nothing on S@H at the moment that I feel inclined to pay full price for just to qualify for this freebie.

My wife brought a Lego train set on the weekend and after one week of heavy duty use from the kids the AAA batteries are already running down. If there a way to power trains off regular electric power and if so what should I buy to achieve this (there are quite a few power functions listed on the S@H site)?

Third 2014 Lego Ideas review and selection
TeufelHund replied to Herky's topic in Special LEGO Themes
So now I can build something that I had no interest in playing with as a kid...way to go Lego. I would have gone for Minis Tirith or the Museum in a flash - but this has absolutely no interest for me. -
A small price to pay to ensure George Lucas isn't ever involved again in the franchise, don't you think?
-
I never would have said this about the clunky, flimsy 2006 version, but the 2014 Imperial Star Destroyer is actually a lot of fun to swoosh and has an interior playspace that actually resembles the movie interior sets. Also fond of my Slave I and Republic Gunship. The ATDP is also quite nice.

You forget normal human behavior modeling doesn't always apply when you're asking a German to break the rules... -
Obviously not the Special Edition - I can't see out the windows at all the spaceships flying around!

If we get a Bricks and Mortar shop it will likely be only in Sydney or Melbourne which won't be of much use to those of us that live anywhere else - I drove from one side of Australia to the other once and it took me over five days! Not exactly convenient if one wants to drop in to the Lego Shop for a browse! -

I think TLG probably assume that Aussies are so used to paying inflated prices anyway that they'll buy even without a discount being offered. You can't even order non-SW stuff this year and still get the bonus SW stuff as was possible in previous years. Sadly there's nothing from SW I want this year that I don't already have, so will have to get my polybag in the aftermarket. -
Looks dull as dishwater - lots of repetitive building, takes up an enormous footprint to display and a single minifig compared to the last system set which looked just as good IMO but came with a fantastic selection and variety of Imperial figs. It's a fail for me.

Death Star is definitely going out of production - it says here limited stock and they won't be putting it on backorder: http://brickfanatics.co.uk/lego-may-the-4th-be-with-you/ -

May 2 - 9 I believe. I bought mine in 2010 and Han definitely has no pupils. -

I have the Death Star and most of the old style figures in it do look jarring next to more modern versions. The emperor and Darth look ok, but the rest have the eyes without pupils and apart from a couple of instances there is no backprinting. Rumour says there may be a new DS next year to go with Rogue One so you might be better holding fire.
