I agree, those parts of the build weren't that convenient, but worked out well in the end. And overall, I do like it more than when I first saw the images, though that "wow" is still lacking. (Yes, I got impatient and bought it first day (i.e. Jan 2 in Germany)...) As far as modding is concerned, well, I intend to put it in a row with my Brick Store and Modulex facades, so I'll reduce the Corner Garage to a flat facade (thereby also hiding the unsightly grey parts in the gaps) and add a steep roof, probably with a nice gable on one side, adding a bit more Gründerzeit flair. Should go quite well with these other facades.

A very nice build indeed. But the track is too close to the building - the next train will cut off the 9 3/4 sign, and the doors should only be opened when there's no traffic either...

First impression: Well, it's nice, they did a good job integrating the gas pump, but somehow that modular "wow" factor is lacking for me... yet? We'll see...

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
cimddwc replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
It should be set in a similar timeframe as the Diner, at least not much later. And then they can just say "see, this non-green fuel is a thing of the past"... -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

The Ambassador on Doctor-Brick.de has already confirmed that the Ambassadors have been informed (and are allowed to share) that the new Modular 1ß264 will be announced on Monday 15:00 CET. They have not been told any more details, though. -
That's a new 3x3 corner plate on top of the horse show set (white, holding the golden horseshoe), isn't it? Anyway, some nice sets and a little less color clashing this time...

Looks like salmon is indeed back. Compared to the pinks in the picture without the box (Brickset), I'd say it's certainly none of the existing pinks.

Brick Bank has been reported (from Munich) to be marked as "last chance" in stores. Along with Tower Bridge, the fishing store and GBHQ. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Yeah, I was glad I had a big bag of 1x1 plates from Legoland when I built my trikes store. :) I wouldn’t be surprised if they'd include a rare or new color in future modulars, whether it's a limited area as in the Diner or full walls as in PR. -

There's a press release now about exclusive sets in China, see e.g. Brickset. -
Thanks again! It's indeed not the most stable building I've ever built... The main facades are just attached at two places in the middle where one Modulex tile (which is as tall as a brick) is squeezed into the bottom of the tan jumpers visible in the lower floor (for some reason, the 1x2x5 bricks in the upper floor fit better than they did in the lower floor before I removed them). And they rest against the Lego bricks on the sides. The lightsaber - clip-bar - clip-plate - plate-with-bar-in-Modulex is just there to connect the vertical tan edges, and just at one point. If I'd have to move the building around more, I'd have added another one at the top. The gable is just locked in place with extra M bricks between Lego bricks. All in all, it's a lot of improvising while you build... By the way, stability is further reduced by the fact that there were no 1x1 Modulex bricks in the lot I bought, only 1x1 tiles.

Thanks! I got the Modulex bricks on eBay, about 10-15% more terra-cotta than used here, and the same amount in tan (so I got quite a few of those left), plus a drawer and some cardboard boxes for 23.50€. You just have to ignore those offers that start way too high...

Hello everyone, my latest building: A facade combining terracotta-colored (and some tan) Modulex wirh normal Lego: Fittingly with the "architects' Lego", it contains an architect office, "Mod & Lex", and an apartment above. At least what's visible through the windows, because since it's just a facade, it doesn't matter what the parts that are not visible through the windows look like: ...instead there can be stuff to hold the Modulex bricks (5x5x5 mm) which don't match the Lego grid (8x8x9,6 mm) everywhere. And still some things don't fit perfectly, but as long as that's hardly visible... :) » Flickr album Hope you like it...

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Not quite true. They did have a few nice discounts for the Black Friday weekend last year (at least in Germany and other parts of Europe), including BB and GBHQ. -

That's actually light salmon in my building. Regular salmon seems to be significantly darker and stronger. And I'm not sure if that would work well in larger amounts in a building. Then again, the olive green in PR looked better than I had imagined, too... -
Thanks again after all these months! :) At that time, each regular floor was split in 3 sections: the thick center part (24 studs) and each of the sides. However I noticed that left much empty space in the boxes I used, so I split the sides on the left (opposite the dining hall) in two modules. Hopefully this will be more efficiently using the boxes next time, I.e. this November. By the way, I'm currently completing the interior and lighting (with non-Lego LEDs, admittedly...).

An amazing building indeed! And I think the yellow works well.

I once built this one that matches your drawing at least partially: Hats & Clocks: Front by cimddwc, auf Flickr Seeing these other art buildings makes my art gallery (thanks for mentioning, btw!) look rather normal... ;)

Hello everyone, something a little bit different for a change, especially architecturally: A modern, artistic building that grows from the ruins of an old one... topped with an over-the-top golden sculpture. An overview of the pieces of art found in the gallery. A few notes: Top row: The bee is from a Unikitty set, as well as the piggy next to it that didn't make it into the gallery after all. The ugly dark red figure is a Bionicle "minifigure", the ice sculpture from a City advent calendar. Second row: The orange thing is mostly from a Moana set, the blue disc from the Dimensions game. Third row: That silver thing is a Ninjago spinner thing. A brick separator was kinda mandatory. :) The gold sculpture is from an old reverse-engineering contest, and the white thing from Nexo Knights. Bottom row: Left is a plate from the German footballers CMF. The floors: (Detail images on Flickr.) » Flickr album with more photos Hope you like it...

It looked yellow in the early leaks and orange now. I'd prefer yellow (regular or flame)... Maybe they'll add the other switch to next year's extra cargo train (assuming there will be one like before)?

Thanks again! Second floor? European definition above ground floor, it's a 2x2 round plate plus 2x2 round tile with hole on a Technic axle pin. Second floor of the upper part (dark red/tan) is 30094 plus tiles, and a tooth plate above..

Around the corner from the Grand Hotel, between a yet-to-be-modified Assembly Square and something else about which I haven't much of an idea yet...

Thanks, everyone! Yes, the window frame took quite some playing around with snotting half-plate offsets etc. The mini Falcon is basically last year's Advent Calendar design plus that extra bit in the front. And white instead of gray, of course.
