I've just realized that the gear racks from the Arocs set has a similar design to that of the new quadrant rack. The 6-hole disk does fit into the slit under the gear in the rack.

What is a PTO?

Not sure if you guys notice yet, but the upper conveyor belt has a one way latch that prevent rocks (Lego brick rocks) from sliding down, but still allows the bars on the conveyor to slide up. Check 0:21 - :023. The latch is the 2x4 L-shaped liftarm at the end of the conveyor belt.

I think one of the reason for the prohibitive price is to prevent a big surge of orders that may lead to out-of-stock. To me, if something sells out in a short period of time it wouldn't feel very premium or exclusive.

I have a theory about why the prelim crane doesn't make it: The Claas is targeted mainly at AFOLs, who display models more often than play with them. Given that the prelim crane looks more substantial, it is heavier than the official one, and heavy to the extent that it can bend liftarms or axles if attached unsupported for a long time. So TLG decided to lighten the crane.

Conspiracy theory: TLG introduced a so-called "overpriced" set with less parts exactly to make the less appealing (if not outright ugly) BWE more attractive.

Upon closer inspection, I see that the prelim model has 4 3x11x2 curved panels. I think it is still possible to make a plough out of these panels and the remaining liftarms.

Check the designer video, 03:10 http://www.lego.com/...enz-arocs-42043 Maybe TLG originally planned the Claas and Volvo to be cheaper ways to get the Arocs exclusive parts, with Claas having the rack and Volvo having Pneumatic + Grabber. As for the front 3x11 panels, I find them more realistic, as they represent counterweights, and make the front of the model look more complete. Any idea for what B model can be for the prelim model? And there's an unusual-looking part on the grabber of the crane, right in front of the 24-tooth gear, any idea what that is?

Markus said in the designer video that the rack and telescopic gear are produced exclusively for the Arocs. Maybe that's why they aren't used in the Xerion. Doing so would make them no exclusive any more. The crane has two mini LA. TLG probably used concentric transmission to get two axle through the turntable. We haven't seen that technique for 4 years now.

The prelim model doesn't look any different from the official model.

This resembles the real Arocs 3245 than the TLG's version!

The grabber makes this set less desirable to me, because I already have a grabber from the Arocs.

As I only bought models for display and don't play with it often, I'd much prefer those with panels. They give the models a clean, finished look, and realistic details, like that of the 42052. I derive much enjoyment and appreciation from looking at the models.

Now if only this model has the complexity of a flagship, with 5 LAs and a bucket attached to a small turntable :-<

Totally agree with this. I don't wanna hold the model by the tail, because doing so may bend the liftarms. When I play with it, I hold it with two hands, one at the BBox and one at the tail, or hold it nose down with one hand. The holdability is an aspect the the B-model performs better.

Could it be that, in order to drive down the cost for this model, TLG had to increase the number of parts in orange, which results in Volvo with orange handles and Gali with orange accent instead of yellow.
