My target is running a sale of 20% off all Lego City (and minecraft, friends and Duplo) but I didn't see the new sets, or the couple of sets from the winter wave I mighta been interested in (caravan and tire escape). Shame, because the service station set would have been a much better price. With the additional 5% off from my red card it would have been $68.39 which is a price I'd be willing to pay for it. I'm not sure if it was just my local target or if all of them are running this promo, but it's running online as well... I'm calling the other 2 that are close to me tomorrow, and checking their stock on the new sets.

Yeah, I hope the Park set sells really well so Lego gets the message that this is something everyone wants. The 14 minifigs included are not quite the value of a CMF, but still a lot of rare or exclusive torsos and hairpieces, and a lot of added value in new molds and little builds. The price for this set seems fair enough. It's the airport sets and the gas station that seem pricey. I love that gas station though, and I will prolly get at least one to expand on.

Jangbricks has his first reviews of the summer wave up - the park and air show sets - and there seems to be lots of stuff to like about the City sets. Price is a concern, but I'll be picking up some city sets for sure.

I don't know what everyone was expecting out of this set... $30ish with 4 minifigures, a vehicle and a build... Of course the Lazarus pit was gonna be comically tiny and undersized. The figures are great, the buggy is aight, and at least the build has some useful elements...

Other than the name, I don't see any problems whatsoever with that starter set. Pretty much what we're used to from these kinds of sets - a couple of small builds plus 4 minifigs to populate some of the bigger sets from this year's City sub-theme.

There are soooooo many $200 and higher sets the last couple of years... 3 in 2010 3 in 2011 3 in 2012 6 in 2013, not counting the minstorms and educational sets 6 in 2014 8 in 2015 8 in 2016 already with prolly some more to be revealed...

You probably would have said the same thing about The Lego Movie and the Seacow, or Ninjago and the Temple or Airjitzu. -
I completely disagree with you on the Darkseid invasion set. The hoverthing was pretty weak, but that Javelin is awesome. Very underestimated set, especially considering the cheap price it was available for when it was close to retiring. The Killer Croc vehicle isn't great, but that Battank looks promising.

I got the Batzarro dvd for $6 or something on Black Friday at target, and Trickster and Kent on clearance at B&N for under $10. The only one I paid full price for was Cosmic Boy.

Building up a (hidden) under structure out of Duplo pieces has some advantages. They are cheaper than, but compatible with, Lego bricks, unlike custom built wooden structures.

I always thought that set was too big for a polybag. I wish I could get several of them.

I have dat gap on the left end. I'll have to fix it. I hope I have enough masonry brick left over. How exactly did you do that? I don't have the build in front of me, so I can look at now. Maybe it will be pretty obvious... Also, I substituted the blue arches for the awning for medium blue. Seemed silly to pay $2 for those, even if the blue looks a little better...
