I may use something similar in for my crew in the upcoming LDD faction ship.

Gunpowder, as others have posted, is unstable. This is probably owing to the proper stable chemical components not existing in Historica. Black oil does exist, but the chemical separation processing won't work. Weapons based on this tend to explode. It is possible that the chicle plant does exist, so some rubber and primitive plastics could be made, but those would be labor intensive and expensive. The Nestlands Clans have developed distillation technology for clean water, alcohol, herbal remedies, and potions. The ground water in the Nestlands is so mineral rich that it is poisonous to humans, and most (though not all) other peoples.

My new build, Celebrating The Solstice is up. -
On a small bit of rock in the ocean, already claimed my Eslandola, stand three celebrants. Captain Prows couldn't remember the Corrie Lt. Commander's name. It had been too odd and complicated for him to try repeating. 'Tolan will remember it,' he thought. The Corrie officer had recently converted to the Triuri faith, and this was his first other worlds ritual (as best they could manage). They had been here for hours, and though it is slightly foggy, the full moon has given the three faithful plenty of light to see by. The uisge drunk through the mushroom was starting to take effect. Above the clouds - the great merchant's lift of Sultan's Gate

This is such a wonderful build it hurts me to make this observation, but Sultan's Gate isn't at a high enough elevation for clouds to form naturally. I could see this as a magical cloud bank, though. And that gryphon looks like it could have come from that east coast outpost Gideon made quite some time ago. -
