  1. The shield looks to be too high, and too close to her body, in the image for the straight on angle. I'm reasonably certain that it is the large triangular shield.
  2. I speculated in the General POTC thread that the shark might be a polybag giveaway. Things like that have been known to happen. My point about the box art was that Disney holds a tight reign on what can and cannot be revealed (and when) with regards to upcoming movies. Disney lawyers hold property rights very close. Why do you think we haven't seen the baldric mold outside of POTC and The Lone Ranger? I'm betting someone got in hot water over the early picks of that shark.
  3. What else in the set is grey? Figs? Could some of the ghostly crew be swimming after the boat? The trailer doesn't really give a clue to the scene, because the Silent Mary isn't attacking a rowboat there, and the sea is calm in the trailer. Could the box art show a scene that may not be shown until a trailer depicting the scene comes out? Disney can really obsessive about controlling information rollout. Or it's just a trick of water design, compounded by the blur. We need real box images. Pity Disney makes official Lego reviewers wait so long before they can share. Those who followed it remember how Whitefang's review of the Disney CMF line got held up so long that regular purchasers were making their own reviews. Disney can be very un-nice about some things.
  4. Is the new Colonial Governor of the Southern Isles, Captain Jonathan Cooke, RN, finally going to do something about those 'Corrington documents' that got locked in his strongbox months ago?
  5. It's not printing, the legs are dual molded. This has been around for a while now.
  6. It is really looking like the unveil was poorly executed, and rushed. If the zombie shark is supposed to be in the set, then its absence lends credence to this idea.
  7. Hmm. An old thread. I tried to read some of it, but 32 pages? I'll give my take: For the shared cinematic universe to work there needs to be a sense of relative reality. From the movies I've seen, I didn't get that. Man of Steel is a good movie, that tells the Superman story from an angle that the other movies and TV shows hadn't. But it rushed through so much of Clark's life, that the relative reality is lost. BVS tries to give us this, but didn't work for me. The narrative is still too rushed, and the aftermath from the previous movie is stuck too much with the perspective of the primary characters. They have to get out of their orbit, and build the world up for the audience. Suicide Squad moves out to the secondary characters, but without the being familiar with the histories of the characters in the comics (I don't regularly read DC) the bits of backstory aren't enough. The MCU has multiple platforms to add to this, and has strung out the characters' progression over longer arcs. The DCEU doesn't have that yet. The TV shows, from the little I could stand to watch, aren't built around the movies' direction. The CW shows, to me, are stuck playing to a specific teen audience. (I'm glad Supernatural grew out of that.) I've never gotten into watching Supergirl, having been put off by the promos. Gotham is the only DC TV show that I have really enjoyed, but as a prologue story it doesn't really help here. The DCEU needs a show (more than one would be better) that directly connects to the happenings of the movies, to help flesh out the universe and give a wider perspective. DC could have had this years ago, if Smallville had been built upon (it is part of why I like Gotham). I know the show began with a lot of teen focus, but the writing and story direction grew out of that with the characters. There was a shared logic to the existence of powered people, and wider character viewpoints. It also had a grounding in normal peoples' lives that the DCEU movies don't really achieve. If the DCEU can get this kind of commitment, then it may grow into what it is trying to match, namely the MCU. I hope they get better.
  8. Here's the list, quoted from the Series 17 thread: How did you do? I came close to Retro Space Hero, but my description was off.
  9. There is the issue of the trans-clear parts that make the ship stand. When speculation on the blurry image began we didn't know about those. It is entirely plausible that those, partially obscured by the water art, could be what we were seeing.
  10. Some speculation on the zombie shark, since it isn't official that it is in the SM set, maybe it will be a Shop @ Home polybag.
  11. This is an interesting thought. Maybe we'll see multiple colors of highwaymen. Collect them all made more problematic?
  12. I don't get the dislike for the Corn Cob Suit Guy's head. It reminds me vaguely of a cartoon from the late 80s. I'd put it on a different fig, but the print itself looks good to me. I have a screaming face (Kingdoms, I think) that would be better. I know series 14 had a screaming face on the plant fig, but I didn't get that one. Those two together would be funny, though.
  13. Having given this a closer look: I think I could buy it as a parts pack, if I have the means. I don't build for POTC, so I don't care about having specific ships. About the figurehead being a separate fig, it could be that somewhere in the film it comes alive for a fight scene.
  14. @kurigan, I was thinking square plan. Four masts will likely be the right number, but the number of sails; their width; and whether I can build her at full sail all have to be considered. I think I may have worked out some of her rigging connection points needs. As to the fore section without guns, to merge the width of the gun deck section and the prefab hull required a different interior structure where my gun port design wouldn't work. The story logic will be that she was built from the hulls of three, possibly four, battle damaged ships, as a cost saving measure in a time of war. The amidships is so wide because I was trying to be as realistic as I could with her buoyancy. There are 32 gun ports on each side. The color is just temporary, and much of the gold has already been changed. New requirements for LDD builds means rendering, and that affects coloring to a degree. I am trying out a few ideas.
  15. I think the Highwayman, if that's what he's supposed to be, is something akin to this: This is where I found the pic. I cropped the second image to fit the site guidelines.
  16. Well done on the great harp. The lady playing looks to be one of the nine High Priestesses of the Crahaish neh Triuri. There are a number of songs praising the Triuri written for the great harp. The hall itself is elegant, as befits a state building.
  17. I took some time to work on my LDD SOL. I haven't quite solved my bow design, but I have a few things to try. (full image) My issue is figuring out a sail plan for something so large.
  18. The Retro Spaceman isn't a hero, he's a villain. Look at his expression, the helmet, and the details on the costume. He even has a pot belly. He looks like a henchman for Ming the Merciless.
  19. I wonder if the top the rocket suit is the same as the small ball joints. If it is, I have some ideas for that.
  20. It could just be that the shark wasn't available to the presenters in time. The box isn't there either.
  21. The Retro Spaceman seems to be a villain. I like the redesign of the pulse gun. The 80's guy looks like Miami Vice. The Chef has hair, and a whisk! The printed pie looks nice, too. The recolor of the 'Squishie' cup is a nice addition, along with the serving tray. The Female Elf seems to have the large triangular shield. The Battle Dwarf has Mjolnir? And something that looks like two colored chopping blade. Unless the grey thing is supposed to be in the Vet's hand. The baguette looks to be a new mold, too. It seems larger than the existing mold. I need that French bulldog.
  22. I'd say more zombie than ghost. CMF series 14 may have gotten ahead of this.
  23. To the frying pan with him! Igor! I need a brain for my creation!
  24. Would a religious institute for the training of new priestesses and consort's of the Crahaish be classified as an Education build or an Art and Culture build?
  25. NYTF might be the unveil, if other POTC toys get shown there. If not, then maybe one of the fan conventions. Which Cons are upcoming?
