The Empire of Eslandola: Sign-Up and Discussion, Era II
gedren_y replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I'll add my welcomes, @TheCubbScout, but remind people that for access to the PM system you need a post count of at least ten. So, ask questions, comment on recent builds, or just do some in-character banter, and the site leadership will get you added to the Eslandola PM as quickly as possible.- 243 replies

The Consort's Duty got diverted to Otoño? Hojaroja must be too small a market for the goods bound for Trador.

"Asian" minifig heads - anyone got a list?
gedren_y replied to CappnRob's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The heads of the Exo-Force minifigs are very anime in styling. There are only a few individual characters, but most of the heads are double-sided. -

Signature tags? Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll decline. -
Tall dwarves have already happened in Historica, but that was in Mitgardia. In the beginning the leader of Kaliphlin was a dwarf. People forget because he has been gone for so long. While you won't find swamplands and lava fields here, in Kaliphlin you can find green forested regions (flat and mountainous), grasslands, snowy mountaintops, river delta mud fields, and of course lots of desert.

Uisge for everybody, and mushrooms to go with it on Dec. 21. "Triuri nas tròcairiche gràdhaiche na màthraichean. Beannachd uile a' mhuinntir le bethannan." -

Dearji the Windsong passes around bottles of uisge that she has personally blessed. "Praise the Triuri!" -
@Drunknok, I believe what those who shared their own information intended you to do is edit your previous post with it (giving proper citation, of course). Reposting the same information afterwards is quite redundant, even if you expand upon the original information. All entries should probably be done this way, with a simple update notification post when you do so.

Two hundred and sixty years ago today Consort Utur the Soulcatcher of the Crahaish neh Triuri was bloodied upon the field of battle. As the story goes, his blood fueled the battle rage that united the disparate peoples that would one day become Eslandola in common cause. A remarkable event worth remembering. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today Camilla Isobel la Reiy, third cousin to the King, attended the Day of Blood ceremony in Trador. Maudlin thoughts, and quite a bit of uisge, saw her leave the city behind. Out among some stones that only a few researchers have bothered to study, Camilla walks to try and clear her head. Her left hand is still covered in the simulated blood from the body of the man who acted as the Man of Days. Her right hand holds a goblet with only sip of uisge left. Downing the last of her drink, Camilla heads back to her lodging, leaving the stones to their own remembrances. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just a quick vig to mark the Day of Blood.

So they got their hands on some uisge and Truachesh mushrooms, then.

I leave those kinds of characters' origins a bit vague. I describe them as coming from somewhere west or southwest of New Oleon. -

I would go with canned spices, and they would be more like metal jars. POTC Dead Man's Chest had those early in the film. The heads could plausibly work for that. -

Those aren't sabers. The Brickarms U-clip and Brickarms Bayonet are things of which I have some acquaint. I'm surprised that you aren't already familiar with these aftermarket products. -

Would the young lieutenant care to listen to Dearji the Windsong sing of the Triuri? "Tlachd nas beatha bainne a' toirt nis Daoingeir, Triuri an fhirinn torrach na h-ùrach tachair. . . ." -
I fall in the 'some mythos' category. My ships aren't very realistic, but I do try to apply a certain logic to them. I invented the Triuri faith, which makes allowances for mythic creatures as 'other realms beasts' that have crossed into the world. There was also the Fountain of Youth contest. For that I had the Crahaish neh Triuri acknowledge that there are multiple places that can be called 'The Fountain of Youth' so as to not invalidate others' accounts. My story included some very specific 'magical' effects, and dangers. I think I have a couple of other instances of 'magical' happenings in my builds, but try to avoid world altering fantasy. As to build realism: My ships are usually a strange mix of types, but I make certain to acknowledge this in the text of the threads. I am always willing to accept advice on improving the realism of ship design, though. For structures I will sometimes use styles as old early medieval, and as recent as mid-1800s. It all depends on the story needs. I try for a relative realism, but often am limited to cutaway builds by parts limitations. This adds to the ability to develop action scenes, so it is a good trade-off. I do try to make my cutaways more real than LEGO sets get at the relative size. I think the term 'relative realism' is the best description of BOBS.

New Ship Classes - The Transition
gedren_y replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I just made sure I had my stats laid out in my original post here, and archived the post link in my favorites for future reference. -
Think of the Range stat this way: your starting zone is zero, and your range stat is how far outside that zone you can travel. For the form purposes you have to list your starting zone for your point of origin, but in plotting concerns it is zero. That is why a zero range ship can only move about between ports in the same zone.
