Thanks guys. This was easy to miss, since it came amidst all the others. Built and photographed before breakfast. Everyone seemed to be making haste, so I did too, but that makes for poor photography. Luckily I had been working on some version of the story for a bit. To how I burned the wall, I thought the third image gave it away. Electrical tape, cut with varying biases, then overlapped. I'll have to wash those bricks after I dismantle it.

Settlement, Nova Malto, Isla de Victoria
gedren_y replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Ayrlego, you missed my first build for the area: Viewing the Devastation. I'm not surprised, as it received no replies, and had slipped to page 3 of the forum. I don't know if it qualifies as a residence.- 11 replies

Meet René Artois, owner and operator of Café René in the town now called Nova Malto. "'Allo." René's café, situated below street level, hadn't been damaged, but the living quarters above had. René is meeting with master carpenter Jonas McInsh to learn the extent of the damage, what repair work can be done, and how long it will take. "The tan scroll contains your copy of our estimate," Jonas told him. "And the cost?" René asked. "All costs are being covered by the Crahaish neh Triuri," Jonas replied, "The only thing we ask of you is to deliver the white scroll to your new Mayor. It is a full accounting to date of all the sick and injured that the Crahaish's priestesses and consorts have tended, their prospects for recovery, and the food and medical supplies available for distribution." "I'll gladly do the honors," René said wistfully, "And the green scroll?" "Personal correspondence," Jonas told him curtly. "Ah, well," René sighed, "What are my damages then?" "You were quite lucky," Jonas began his long-winded explanation, "The structural supports are undamaged. We will add some extra bracing, though. Two of your outer walls need restudding, but all the others just need new planks. Two of the window frames can be salvaged, but the other six need to be rebuilt. There is enough salvageable glass for three windows. . ." As Jonas droned on about the details, René found himself just nodding along. Nearby Wandering Acolyte Kali the Phlin is enjoying some locally grown mushrooms as she discusses with the 'serving girl' Yvette the Crahaish's attitude about sex. She tells Yvette to come see her tomorrow for a supply of pregnancy prevention potion. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are two shots of the build empty of figs. LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
gedren_y replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Someone mentioned Studios. It had under its umbrella some Universal Studios movie licenses, so that could technically be a licensed theme. If that's it, we could finally get that Director fig that has shown up on a number of promotional artwork. About SpongeBob, I saw a non-Lego set a few years ago. I thought it was K'Nex, but it could have been Megabloks. -

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
gedren_y replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Both Marvel and Star Wars cannot happen because of Hasbro. They have some exclusive licensing deal that means that only they can produce individual action figures for these properties. They sued when TLG started making magnet sets with removable Star Wars figures, and won because a minifig can be classified as an action figure. That is why all Lego magnet sets are glued now. A CMF series of either of those themes would infringe upon Hasbro's licensing rights. -
Yes, a bit of reductio ad absurdum is just what this situation needed.

Wandering Acolyte Kali the Phlin approached the tent full of men in animated debate with trepidation. The shade it cast was not comforting today, but she strove to have a smile upon her face. "Honored sirs, I have been instructed by the High Priestess Ylsbeth to offer this fine bottle of uisge in the hope of a lasting peace." Kali handed the bottle to Don Isaac Montoya, then quickly retreated.

I hope they will have time to tour the Crahaish neh Triuri aid workers' campsite. The construction crews are working on assessing the damage, and hope to preserve as much of the existing town as possible. (They'll put Captain Whiffo to work organizing the materials runners.) The priestesses and consorts are offering what spiritual and medical comfort that they can.

Yeah, it got heated. Me included. I let IC overlap with OOC, got frustrated, and abandoned story ideas because I got too angry to write good story. I took a break, found my funny (that was the "Cheeseburger!" post), and picked back up one of my story ideas. I did it with a nicer bent than I would have if I had done it while angry. Now that that is out of the way . . . ----------------------------------------------- The Crahaish neh Triuri has begun non-governmental aid, and wishes to be allowed to continue without interference by either party.- 780 replies

During the war the Crahaish neh Triuri supported the Eslandola government in its stand against Madierian imperialism. But now the war is over. Care for the benighted population of the island known on Eslandolan maps as Isla de Victoria is needed. The Crahaish and the Truachesh people have responded to that need. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was well known that a large group of Truachesh builders, sculptors, and craftsmen were planning a move to Trador. The Crahaish neh Triuri offered to completely finance their resettlement if they would first join the war relief effort in Malto. This offer was readily agreed to. Three ships were promptly hired to transport the whole of the group, their trade tools, and other provisions to the northeastern coast of Isla de Victoria. To keep from being molested on their journey, the ships would fly the flag of the Crahaish. ----------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile in Nova Terreli, the newly minted in-shore commodore Hammish Grie was busy arranging a supply of food and medical aid to be loaded on the Island Rose and the Consort's Duty. High Priestess Ylsbeth the Starcatcher and her Consort, Taliesin the Lightbringer, were to make the voyage, along with a number of Wandering Acolytes, to offer aid and comfort to the remaining population of Isla de Victoria. --------------------------------------------------------------------- So it happened that five ships came from the Crahaish neh Triuri, mooring in the deeper waters south of Mehit. The group were well received there, and were given assistance in transporting goods and personnel to an area near Malto for encampment. Once a camp was established, Ylsbeth, Taliesin, and a master carpenter, Jonas McInsh, approached the city to view the devastation. They encountered several guards that were there to try and keep out uniformed troops. They were a little confused about what to do about the High Priestess' group, but allowed them to pass. The first group of houses at the edge of the city had only minor scorching, and damage to some nicely appointed lawns. Coming around a corner, though, the true extent of the damage became quite clear. Jonas, swearing loudly in the old tongue, became quite daunted at the task set before himself and his fellows. ------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope my little build will help lessen the tension.

The Empire of Eslandola: Sign-up and Discussion
gedren_y replied to kabel's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
What seems to have escalated this is that the Eslandola PM was in the midst of actively discussing our plans for Isla de Victoria. Several pages of plans got stepped on with the posting of your idea. We were also completely of the mind that winning Challenge 5 completely legitimized our claim to the island. It seems that you failed to anticipate that we Eslandola players would be so active at the time. In the last day there have been more than 10 pages of discussion of proposals and counter-proposals to come up with proper responses to your idea. Since it was Bregir who made the initial post, he got the heavy focus of the invective rhetoric in our private discussion. Thank you for clearing up that issue. Our quick responses seems to have forced Bregir into making sweeping in-character statements. The failure to anticipate our speed may have generated a position for Corrington that you had not intended.- 780 replies

I see a number of posts that make assumptions about disposable income, and large, high cost sets. For myself, I haven't ever bought a set in that price range, and am not likely ever to do so. The ideal would be an actual line of sets that can hold the favor of both children and AFOLs. It will take time, effort, and a significant budget to do it right. Here's hoping TLG gives our discussion, and others, serious consideration.

The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
gedren_y replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Are the Corries going to acknowledge the efforts of Lady Valentia Cantoni? What she found on her stargazing trip was nobly turned over to the proper authority at the Royal Swordsmen's Club in King's Harbour. Corrington, it can be argued, benefitted greatly from her sense of honor.- 897 replies

And related to the Eslandola Crown, which nearly caused a different war. It is a wonder that Oleon hasn't really appreciated that Eslandola's new representative government is what kept a far bloodier affair from happening.- 164 replies
