  1. I understand the complaints some people have, but don't share them. I don't generally buy Lego to keep as is (a few rare exceptions). I see uses for most of these figs, and can even find a use for the orange plates. If your collection is intended for display, I'm certain LEGO has considered this and plans to release a special display case. I can even see them making a standalone case for the Classic Policeman, possibly with a backdrop design based on the original box art.
  2. Toys R' Us? Target prices them at $3.99 USD. I wonder if the nosecone on the Fireworks Guy is a separate piece. The cylinder section looks too much like the tree costume. I know they aren't the same mold, but they have a similar design aesthetic. If there is more than one piece, that cone would be a great part for future sets. I have six uses in mind, myself.
  3. The Cake Suit Guy has icing splatter on his torso. I wonder if the cake piece has standard studs or the hip connector. Standard studs would make it more usable. The balloon string is definitely new. The handle is the standard bar thickness, but the string is thinner. That fish in the hand of the Cat Suit Guy looks like the existing fish in teal, but it seems to be a brighter color than was in Rock Raiders and other sets of the era. He looks like one of the early Warner Brothers cartoon cats, from before Sylvester. I'm tempted to say he could be Herbert.
  4. "Oh, of all the idiocy," Valentia grumbled as she stood and walked to a window. A quick rap on the glass got the attention of a young man outside. A hand motion spurred him to run for the entrance. "Your courier will be here shortly, Guilder," she said before returning to her seat.
  5. Valentia groused a bit at Guilder's dismissal of her concerns, but voted, "Yea." As she sat Viscount Doblin patted her shoulder and softly said, "They'll learn." In a louder voice he voted, "Yea." Hammish thumped his head down on the table with a groan. Raising his arm, he mumbled a vote of "Yea." from under his armpit.
  6. I have seen Mario Kart blind bags, which crosses most of Nintendo's classic internal properties, and makes me think they have an exclusive deal. K'NEX doesn't seem to have the production capacity that Lego does, so it may just be that they will take their time to actually make products based on that license. 2019 does look to be the return of some kind of Castle line. I hadn't heard about the LEGO Movie 2 being an issue, though. I don't follow any of the discussions about them because the animation doesn't appeal to me. I don't just mean coexisting market concerns, but the internal production commitments and staffing. Elves has an animated series that was recently added to Netflix. It is popular with the target demographic. There are a number of newly developed parts thanks to the theme, because staff and resources have been dedicated to it. Any high fantasy theme requires a level of production commitment to create something distinct. I don't see the reallocation of resources and design staff until the decision to discontinue has been made.
  7. All builds not part of a challenge are freebuilds, even your ships. Filing the webform gives you DBs.
  8. That is the look they'll probably go for, likely with a hip connection piece. I think the torso will be a cartoonish vest/shirt combo with a large 'sheriff' star, like Woody in Toy Story. Maybe we'll se an oversized '10-gallon' hat.
  9. "I take no issue with the justifiable capture, and prosecution, of Sea Rats for the crime of piracy, but they are a loose collection of cities and lone actors," Lady Cantoni continued with her diatribe, "My issue, our dear honorable Admius Legistrad, is the fact that Mardier vessels berthed in Weelond pose a security risk. I do not mean we should take overt action against them. What I am advocating for is increasing troop deployments there for the monitoring of suspect persons, and protecting your home and offices. Mardier does not lack a quality intelligence service."
  10. Lady Cantoni strode over to Guilder's table and rifled through his paper to a different article. "I would be more concerned with the Mardier ships in your own home port, sir," she purred to the irate man, "And it would behoove this body to investigate whether any of those ships participated in the taking or sinking of any Eslandola vessel during the recent hostilities."
  11. A crossdressing pirate? This isn't Stardust!
  12. At the London Toy Fair, usually no pics. At the Nuremberg Toy Fair, some sets are usually pic prohibited.
  13. There is an image floating around of a Lego bison that never went into production. It is plausible that other set were designed, but the line was cut short.
  14. Until Elves sunsets we likely won't see a minifig high fantasy version of Castle. If Nexo Knights finishes this year, a more traditional Castle can be launched next year. I live in hope that Lego will go the more educational route, and try something like my Fables idea (several pages back).
  15. All active ships got their licensing costs reimbursed to their current owners. All the ships have to be re-licensed using the new licensing webform. There are new ship class distinctions, rules, and operating costs that can be found in the About Ships thread. If you need help understanding the new ship rules, or need help determining in what classes your ships belong, go to the New Ship Classes thread.
  16. Playmobil also uses lower cost materials, which reduces production costs. Weaker materials don't require the higher quality molds, thus creating new shapes costs less. Playmobil's aesthetic loses its appeal above a certain age range, so recycling the same ideas with a different skin is less of an issue. There are also a host of business concerns that LEGO has to take into account that Playmobil doesn't. I could go on.
  17. I would love Gilmore Girls - Luke's Diner, but NF-15B Research Aircraft is most plausible. Of the marketable ideas, it has the least in common with current Lego products. Jaguar E-Type Roadster is plausible, but Pop-Up Book is more probable.
  18. Brownies! Of course! I have some Chima wings, but need the right color bracket neckwear. I have a trans-pink magic wand, though.
  19. Lady Valentia Cantoni pulls out a scrap of parchment, and reaches for the inkwell and quill. She begins writing the names of her fellow representatives. Commodore Hammish Grei stands to vote, "Yea." He remains standing. Viscount Alexander Doblin stands to vote, "Yea." He remains standing. Lady Valentia Cantoni, setting her writing implements aside, stands to vote, "Yea." As a group they return to their seats.
  20. The Independents delegation glanced at one another, and as the men nod their encouragement, Lady Valentia Cantoni stands. "As someone who has traveled the Prio Seas, I second this motion. This body was created so that all Eslandolan citizens are properly represented in their government. To do any less is a failure to the nation." With a pointed look around the council hall, she takes her seat.
  21. IIRC, the Greek size calculation for the Earth was off more than the Maya. Given the topography and existing BOBS lore, I would think that the equator is somewhere south of New Oleon, even if the world is determined to be larger than the Earth. Most of the islands would lay between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn, however large the tropical zones are determined to be. There is precious little depiction of cold weather, which leads me to believe that most of the game play happens in the tropics. If this world is larger than the Earth, then the relative sizes of the polar and temperate zones could be larger. I remember some lore that says the waters north of the Madrice Peninsula are colder.
  22. Well, we used to have a ships index that kept track of these things, but since @Maxim I made all the pages only he was doing the work. Like the game mechanics, that sort of thing needs to be distributed.
  23. I think the dragon costume might have a re-use of the lizard man costume headgear.
  24. Thanks. I wanted it to feel like a busy restaurant. Guilder is grumpy because the fancy peg-leg is heavy, and he had to get up those stairs assisted. I got the impression that he doesn't usually let people help him with his physical limitation, which would add to his irritation. His attitude is solely the result of the afternoon's events. Go ahead. That is what cooperative storytelling is all about. If you want to continue with Conan, his hair is dark brown, and his eye-patch is on his left. What he wears can be up to you.
