LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18 Rumors and Discussion

Some Wal-Marts don't carry Lego CMFs at all. -
Another wonderful Kaliphlin build. As for the location, given the terrain, I would place it somewhere on the mountainous southeastern coast between Mpya Stedor and Berigora.
-
Wonderfully done. This reminds me of the Damaximus wedding in GOH. If I'm not mistaken, when put together this build qualifies as a Royal Property.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18 Rumors and Discussion
gedren_y replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Every Wal-Mart in Gainesville, FL carries just about every blind bag except Lego CMF! I haven't checked to see if the local Toys 'R Us is closing, but Target has always had better Lego pricing. The last time I saw CMFs there was near the registers. At the time it was Ninjago and Batman series 2. -
All I am asking for is consent of the inactive player, public notification, and reasonable limits on what can be done with the vessels. Fairness of the game is what we are trying to achieve. I would concede that MRCA loss recovery would need to be managed by the controlling player, but that player should share in the recovery costs. If sistershipping should need to occur, the limits for such should apply to the inactive player's account. An inactive player's ship that gets captured should be sold back at regular licensing cost, with the managing player covering a reasonable percentage of the cost. Any licensable builds created for the recovery/sistershipping would go to the managing player. In the reverse, a managing player should also share in the proceeds in the same percentage as the recovery cost for their efforts. This is a service being provided by the active player. The level of that proceeds/costs percentage could be worked out between the players, but should be included in the public announcement to keep everything above board. Standard upkeep costs apply as normal.

Correct. Offensive measures are inherently more risky, especially when someone is unavailable to post MOCs for new ships, recovery, or sistershipping. Both are too much like gaming the system. The majority of the benefit goes to other players. Should the missing player's ship capture a non-MOCed ship, that ship is effectively removed from the game, because the player cannot set up their own auction. Creating, in effect, a phantom seller would be going too far. It would be best to avoid the situation.
-
I have no problem with someone asking another player to run purely trading missions when they are unavailable to do so. This sort of arrangement should be made public knowledge, so as not to create confusion or animosity. It would be best to have someone of your own faction, if possible, manage the ships so as to have access to the faction convoys. Losing ships in the MRCA is always a risk, so the parties involved should discuss the amount of activity expected to take place.

I think it would be better to be specific and faithful to real cultures than to perpetuate a stereotype. The argument about the Lego Pirates world being a fictional place only holds water if the children are made to understand this up front. That is unlikely without a major media campaign. Representatives from the Native American nations care.

That was what my point about the diversity of Castle fans was all about. What appeals to some will not appeal to others. I see nothing wrong with expressing an opinion on any given theme. I could agree or disagree, depending on what we get. If we disagree, let's try to not argue each other into submission over differing opinions.

I own the fig on the right, and could see an Aztec Empires theme, but focused on the pre-colonial era. The native peoples of North, Central, and South America have enough rich history, and internal conflict, that Europeans don't even need to be a part of it.
-
Agreed. Piffle! AFOLs that build MOCs that require a huge number of bricks tend to either get LUGBulk orders, or buy from the reseller market. Modulars don't really provide the kind of parts value that can be gotten elsewhere.
-
The problem is that real cultures that people still identify themselves as belonging to were denigrated by many of those stereotypes, as an excuse for persecution, slavery, and murder. It makes more business sense to avoid the argument altogether.
-
The level of diversity among Castle builders is probably only matched by Space fans. We're hard to satisfy as a whole, and that is when they actually consider us an important enough block to want to appeal to. I'll be okay with some Harry Potter sets for now. The recent reveal of that carriage set makes me hopeful for more useful parts. I'm cool with fleshies, and I build for BOBS as well, so the figs won't go to waste. It will probably be another three months before we get leaks, if Castle will get its re-launch in January 2019. If it comes even later in the year we'll have an even longer wait for news. In any event, any 2019 theme will have already been in development for some time. All we can do right now is speculate, and hope that the current developers visit this thread.

@Lyichir is exactly right. Lego is a global brand, and that level of stereotyping across various cultures from whom current Lego buyers are descended would be counter-productive. The CMF representation that has been done makes better sense. Now Lego could do themes based on the real cultures without harming anyone's sensibilities, but that would have to wait for the jungle explorer City sub-theme to have ended its run.
-
I get the logic. One of the reasons I say 'piffle' is the 'disposable income' assumption. The need for heraldry and figs that can be acquired in quantity for a reasonable price is another.

He could also be good for the Batman Beyond story 10,000 Clowns. -
Nostalgia sets alone won't do well enough, not if they go the route that the Pirates nostalgia sets are going. They need something to truly appeal to the core Lego demographic (not us). Hopefully we will get some leaks somewhere between June and August to confirm our supposition that a more traditional Castle theme is planned for 2019.

Yeah. Piffle on that!

No story, just that I know enough about over-molding and printing to know that it would be cost prohibitive to sell the goat in a CMF.
