Tarn's mind was almost unable to process the number of enemies the party faced. Until he saw the Jade Flagbearer, and molten fury scorched his veins. "We let you go! How dare you throw our compassion away!" OOC: Sorry guys, this is just a quick post before bed. If anyone wants to talk strategy in thread, I'm all ears!

Growing up in the Titaan mountains meant that Tarn was sure footed, even on treacherous ground such as this. "How much farther, Gau?" he inquired of his guide.

That's exactly how I see it too. There should be a sense of mystery (or perhaps mystique is a better word) about each Quest, in terms of what exactly happened. I know we have a record in the library of each quest, but it would not contain everything. That's why the sequence in Quest#75 worked so well, when the heroes told each other of their exploits and adventures.
-
"They sound similar to the Spitosaurs on Nova Tertia," mused Tarn, thinking back to his encounters with giant lizards in his last quest.
-
I guess technically the Maginastra could well do a 'boss rush' thing, seeing as he can create Guardians. Although I don't know if Sorrow's loathing of him is matched by Endgame

Tarn was grateful for Thalion's question because he had no idea what one was either.

Tarn rested, but did not sleep. His mind was awash with thoughts and his heart full of emotions. He trusted his party, those he knew better were among his closest friends. He appreciated the way the Sorcerer spoke, full of politeness, and counter to that, how stern the Yeti was. Both would prove invaluable in the battles to come. But would they succeed? Would they be able to finish this time? Defeat on the icy slopes had hurt him, mentally as well as physically. Was he tactical enough to be Party Leader? Would he be able to spot any weaknesses in his enemies and exploit them? The bandits he had fought in the pagoda were among the hardest foes he had faced. Was he up to this? He pulled Ella's tattered letter from his pocket and read and re-read the words. He imagined her face, imagined her whispering those words in his ear, and calmed. He fell asleep still holding the letter.

Great stuff! I echo the sentiment to see the film if you are interested in the source material enough to build this lovely MOC. I have seen the film twice now, once in 3D, and bought the art book which is also very lovely.

Flare, are you looking for quest ideas that you could run with? I have loads of ideas but I think my QMing days are behind me, so would be happy to help you brainstorm something.
-
As heroica progresses I think QMs have evolved from the basic 'dungeon crawlers' scenarios and have got more specific stories to tell, there are opportunities for roleplaying but it's not the be all and end all. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Also enemy levels are high, battles are lasting longer so people just want to get their actions in.

"A night of rest before the battles to come then. Friends, let us gather all our strength for the trials ahead. Ere the dawn, we shall be ready."
-
Tarn put the smoke bomb in his magic pocket Suub'spaase where he keeps his inventory, then spoke to Sham again. "Thank you for your insight and merchandise my friend, but it is time for us to depart." He turned to the elder Werepanther. "Loremaster, your knowledge and wisdom has been of great use. We ask one last favour - a guide to the Falls. In exchange I promise you we shall return victorious and with many stories for you to tell."
-
Tarn was grateful for Tesni's handling of Benji. The half-Elf was definitely more excitable than he had been on the last Quest, and he realised now how patient Haldor had been as that party's leader. He noticed that Benji had calmed down, and decided not to have words, for now. Instead, he addressed the merchant. "Sham, these are excellent prices. I shall purchase a Smoke Bomb with the last of my gold."
-
Tarn was heartened that Jun was possibly still alive, albeit a hostage. "Ella was right. This may not be purely a mission of vengeance, perhaps this is a rescue!" He clasped the half-Orc by the shoulders in gratitude of the news, then said, "So what wares did you manage to keep hold of?"
-
Tarn smiled at the Orc merchant. "Sham, it is good to see you again. Do you know what happened to Jun?"
-
Tarn shook his head and said in a very low voice, "Not yet, we can't just assume they are hostile. Lee doesn't seem to have any problem. I'd rather not start snooping around and annoying them."
-
Lovely use of parts for the werepanthers, Sandy.
-
"Thank you for the warm welcome to your village, Loremaster. It is indeed our mission to rid this region of the bandits." Tarn said politely.
-
Tarn spoke in a low voice. "I have been on six Quests before this one, been to different lands and seen many strange things. I do not wish to tell about my exploits, save that I have Quested before with Tesni, Atramor and Benji and know their quality. I tend to dwell on failures past and that is no help when we are on another important Quest." As no-one wanted the Horned Hat, he offered it to Lee for him to wear, although he did remember Jun not accepting consumables and wondered if the bodyguard was similarly pig-headed.
-
I agree, I think the simplest way to not break it is say that if you use the hollow blade, you must use the weapon for your next attack.
-
Well technically swapping weapons does not cost a turn. I'm sure Tarn's done the same thing before now.

Silver City Mafia: Finale - How the West Was Won
Rumble Strike replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
It was a lot of fun watching. Well done to Tammo who did a fantastic job in difficult circumstances. That conclusion was Hinckley-esque in its twists and turns! Congrats to the Scum for their clean sweep. -
OOC: Sandy, I mentioned before that Tarn should be level 24 after that battle and have 2 extra gold from the Noble Mask. Tarn clapped an arm on Benji's shoulder. "I have not heard of such a thing before, but if it helps us in battle, then I am OK with it."
-
"Were you bitten by one of the giant lizards we faced on Nova Tertia?" asked Tarn of Benji, curious to know what had happened to his friend.
