"Good work everyone! I think we have the makings of a fine team!" Tarn gives a Phoenix Essence to Atramor, Tesni, Thalion and Nagure. "Benji my friend, you and I are well stocked with these already, it is tactically wise to spread them around." OOC: Tarn should be at level 24, he was 23.66 going into the battle. Also, I know it is only a small amount but he should get 2 gold from the Noble Mask.

I am very happy with the damage dealing buffs to Bezerker and Raider, good to see especially for the Bezerker, who gains a large multiplier at the expense of single target only damage. The Raider buff, well I know some saw it as a way to make Gold but Ravage was already strong as it's an AoE. I can see it being changed back later on.

Tarn switched his weapon to Helbaerend, knowing that the battle axe was doubly effective against Rock and Flying monsters. He felt a pang of remorse attacking such magnificent creatures, but knew that if they threaten the airship then they risk everyone aboard. "Atramor, that Rod of yours redirects all attacks, right? I know Namyrra had something similar when we last faced the bandits. It's all well and good, but remember that with such a large party, you may take a lot of damage at once. These robots buff us, but not themselves or each other. Everyone bar Rubio and Garnetic, attack the Male Roc from the Front Row. I will attack the Female Roc from the front row twice." Tarn takes Lee to one side, and speaks softly to the stern bodyguard. "Lee, Lady Shanxian believes this mission to be one of vengeance, to destroy those who killed her son, but do you think there is any chance, no matter how small that Jun may still be alive?"

Tarn looked around in wonder as he boarded the airship once again. He hadn't quite believed it the first time they had set off on the Destiny's Bounty, and despite the gravity of their mission he once again found himself on the edge of disbelief.

I'm just worried about what we will be facing when we have been given 7 extra people as well as our party. I think this is going to be absolute carnage! Tarn is nothing without the experiences he's had whilst in Heroica. They shape him into who he is, for better or for worse. I said to you in PM that I love the fact that a lot of this current roleplay and characterisation for Tarn is actually from a failed Quest. Now I know how Guts and Nerwen felt about settling the score with Haroka and Sorona.

Tarn suppressed a shiver as the GEM automatons lined up. Although not like the lionine Chimera battle droids in appearance, their demeanour still gave him pause. However, he tried to sound brave and confident as Party Leader. "these creations are indeed impressive. Most impressive."

I agree that if an Enemy is Weakened or Fragile that the Counterstrike should take that into account.

Tarn did look dubious when the robots were mentioned. "I have fought such things before, in Dastan. It is a sorcery I do not understand. However, having met Mr Legonardo and been aboard the Destiny's Bounty, I am sure they will be a benefit to us if they have come from his creative mind."

In Quest #67, CJP said that as the Counterstrike was a hit based purely on level for strength, it could not be buffed by being Encouraged, which sounded fair at the time.

Tarn bowed his head in a respectful manner and said, "To be the bodyguard of Lady Shanxian is an honour in itself. We would likewise be honoured if Lee would join us."

Tarn addressed Thalion. "I am Tarn, of the monastic order of Valco. I know Tesni, Atramor and Benji, and have Quested with them before. They are fine, capable warriors and I am glad to have them at my side. Thalion, I have not met you before, but I am sure you are equally dedicated and capable with your magics. Likewise Nagure - I feel that with a hero of your stature with us we can best anything the 108 Stars of Destiny can throw at us. We encountered a few giants the last time we entered the pagoda so it is nice to have one on our side now."

Tarn stood still for a moment, and then took off the noble mask as he addressed Lady Shanxian, a quaint gesture of deference and respect. His voice was quiet but gained volume as his speech went on, impassioned. "Lady Shanxian, myself and Tesni here wanted with all our hearts to come back and right the wrong that was done to you. Not a day has gone by when I have not thought of Jun, so brave, so fearless. We stand before you today, a group of fierce warriors who will not rest until we have stopped the rest of the 108 Stars and found your son. You have my word and my promise."

Tarn clinked his ale against Tesni's and said, "Yes, we will, and we will rescue Jun. It has been foreseen."

Tarn smiled at the Bezerker. "Aye Tesni, I am glad you are with us. I know just how much of a powerful and skilled fighter you are, it will be good to stand side by side once more."

"I am sure we will be told more by Lady Shanxian, but the last time Heroica was involved we were helping Jun Ji Pei take back an ancient elemental pagoda that the Ji Pei had lost to a group of bandits collectively known as the 108 Stars of Destiny. We fought our way room by room, level by level. It was incredibly tough, and sappingly relentless combat against many different foes. Their powers and abilities were far greater than anything I have fought before or since. We managed to kill a number of them but we were unsuccessful in vanquishing all 108. The Heroica party were transported outside the pagoda when we were all knocked unconscious. When we came to, Jun was nowhere to be found. It appeared he was still in the pagoda on his own. The Lady Shanxian was understandably upset, and our failure has weighed on my shoulders ever since."

"Apologies, Atramor. Of course you can heal, even if I do not remember it ever happening in Dastan." He grinned despite his concerns. "I am just a little pre-occupied by being named Party Leader. It has been a long time since I held such a mantle and since then I have what happened to Constance and Jun on my conscience."
