  1. To be honest, off-center printing isn't uncommon at all (at least in the superhero themes). I have three or four figures with off-center printing. It's not noticeable from any distance, and even with Lego tolerances, you can't expect perfection.
  2. Have you never had a bigfig? The heads are much larger, and you can't remove either the hair or heads from the body.
  3. Agree with both of these points, so much! The hinting game feels really, really patronizing. If you have to protect your sources, be mature and don't say anything. If you can say something, we'd love to hear it. But stringing us along with tiny hints of information, (not talking specifically about you, but usually while sounding very smug) gets old really fast. Thanks! This is the kind of thing I love to hear! This is nice to know! I'm not bothered about the number; 3 was enough to represent most movies we've gotten lately!
  4. I love Nick Spencer, and I'm holding out for Hydra Cap to be good, but the costume isn't important to me at all. Glad it wasn't anything important.
  5. Awesome! I didn't realize Lego made a beret. Thanks for the heads up, and I may use it in the future!
  6. No, it's not. They look good, though! I think I recognize The Thing character, and the Big Trouble in Little China guy, but I don't recall their in-movie names, and I'm not sure it's them. EDIT: Also, is the beret purist?
  7. It's weird how much better Lego has treated Marvel over DC this year. Ignoring Micros and polybags completely for this discussion, they've given Marvel 10 sets and DC 8. From those sets, Marvel's price-per-piece average is way, way better than DC's: 9.69¢ vs 11.49¢. Marvel's price-per-figure average is also better than DC's: $9.40 vs $10.45, even once you exclude the outlier of the terribly priced Batcave ($30/figure for the set, and it made DC's average $12.89/fig). Also, Marvel's sets were skewed smaller this year than DC's: median $30 vs median $50. From a figure-buying perspective, small sets are better deals, and they also allow you to choose with more discrimination which particular figures you want, while big sets force you to get all the figures in said set, and they're generally a worse deal to boot. In terms of set and figure quality, it's more subjective, but on Eurobricks, Marvel's large flagship sets this year (Airport Battle and Bridge Battle) have been far better received than DC's (Classic Batcave and Killer Croc Sewer Smash), and I personally think Marvel's figure selection has been better than DC's this year. Marvel got 17 named characters who are completely, 100%, new to Lego, and not just variations, updates, or alternate universe versions, while DC only got 8 characters who fit that description. EDIT: Having re-looked through past years, I guess the trend isn't new. In 2015, Marvel got 10 sets, and DC got 7, and in 2014, Marvel got 9 sets, while DC got 5. I'm not sure about the whole trend, but I'm certain the number of sets is related to the fact that the MCU has been underway. Looking ahead, I don't see a year where DC has more merchandisable films than Marvel, so I'm guessing this trend will continue.
  8. Boseman's facial hair seems to be closer to simple stubble than the full beard Mr. T is sporting; of the two of them, I'd vote for Boateng, despite the smile. A number of the reddish-brown faces (Rhodey, Finn, etc.) work pretty well, though!
  9. Wow, that's great! The greebling, the color choice, and the wall detailing is all incredibly accurate to the film! I'm glad you give Cap the same head/hair combo that I do, but I think he's actually wearing his helmet during this shot in the movie. Could be wrong about that, just what I'm recalling.
  10. Huh. I'm glad we got a location-based set, but this isn't doing it for me yet. It's too pedestrian; it look like someone's living room. If I get it, I'll be MOCing it to make the walls something other than uniform beige, and I'll be angling the Seal so it looks more like a skylight and less like a window. But that's the beauty of Lego, right? If something's not to our liking, we can usually fix it ourselves! None of the figures are grabbing me right now, either, but that might change with the movie.
  11. Does anyone else on this forum use the Feral Interactive Mac version of the game? There still doesn't seem to be any of the DLC available yet, but the platform typically gets most of the DLC. Has there been any word on that front?
  12. I'm sorry, I must have missed something. What ring piece?
  13. No Definitely not. Lego designs are of a high enough quality that a MOC would both have to look beautiful and be less than 10¢/piece to even be worth giving consideration. The value that official (often unique) minifigures add can't be overstated, either. Even if I liked the design, if it's not significantly cheaper than a similarly sized set, I would just take inspiration from you, other builders, and other sources to make my own MOC. Sorry. N/A
  14. Alright, I got the two hairpieces I talked about for the female characters. I think it's an improvement, but I'd love to see what else people have done to make them more accurate. On Agent 13, there are a few problems. First, it's extra obvious that the jacket isn't her look. Anyone have any suggestions for her puffy vest? Also, even this better hairpiece isn't perfect. It's still too voluminous and too wavy. Has anyone tried other pieces on her? On Black Widow, I think it works okay. It's certainly still not her actual movie look; the blue stripes are still wrong, and the hair is still definitely not as good as Agent 13's in Dark Orange would be, but it's an improvement. It might even be the best purist option. Like I said, I'd love to see what options you guys have thought of to make the figures more accurate to their Civil War appearances.
  15. Just to be pedantic, Marvel Studios only refers to the films in the MCU, and Punisher: War Zone and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. The previous Spider-Man movies were not made by Marvel Studios, they were Columbia Pictures (Sony) films. If you watch the movies, you'll notice they only say "Marvel" at the beginning, not "Marvel Studios", and the "Marvel" just means that it's based on Marvel characters. So far, there's only been one Marvel Studios Spider-Man: Tom Holland in Civil War. The upcoming "Homecoming" movie will be a Marvel Studios and Columbia Pictures (Sony) co-production, so you could call that Marvel Studios as well.
  16. Wow, that's a good figure selection. Given the 300+ piece count and the four figures, I'm assuming a cost of $40. The Build The truck is really weak. It's fairly ugly, and it doesn't accurately represent the fuel truck in the film. The wind cone is pretty good, though. The Figures Obviously, the draw here is Spider-Man, and he's a pretty good draw. Dark blue color scheme is a plus, as it's more accurate than regular blue. The legs are dual molded, obviously a plus. I can't tell if the legs are printed, too. If so, awesome, and if not, not a big loss. The head looks perfect, and I have no criticisms of it. The torso is printed on Red plastic, which is great, because it avoids a bleed through. From this angle, I don't love the torso design, but a straight on view might fix that. The arms have printing, which is fantastic! However, it looks like the dark blue base will make them look slightly faded. I'm glad they've included one of the new clear hand holding pieces and the new webs. Hawkeye is pretty good. He looks accurate, and I'm actually grateful he comes with Cap's head. I Bricklinked the Black Panther figure, so I never got that head. Now there's nothing I need from that set. Vision is great. I already had the Quinjet one, but this one fixes the gem issue, so I kind of need to buy this one. Captain America is fine. This might be the only set a kid gets, so getting the hero, the biggest character, and two side character is good. Someone else in this thread thought his shield is dark red, but it's definitely not. This is a rendered image, so there's no pinkening of the white areas. Overall, this is a great set figure wise, probably the worst set of the line build-wise. I'm going to buy it, and either sell the truck for $10-15 on Bricklink, or if it doesn't sell, I'll just toss it in my parts collection.
  17. I don't love all his stuff (a lot of it no longer looks like Lego to me), but Michael MGF (MGF Customs) nearly always makes more accurate versions of figures for large films. Also, he doesn't sell his figures, they're only for his own personal use.
  18. Wow! That's actually surprisingly good-looking to me. It's a play set (which we're always asking for in Super Heroes), it's more of a cohesive set than the other Summer 2016 DC sets, and it's a better-looking play set than last year's very similar Hydra Fortress Smash 76041. The Lazarus Pit is basically exactly what I assumed it would be, and the rest of the set is better-designed than I was expecting. The figure selection is a tiny bit disappointing, what with having another Robin and using a made-up, specialized batsuit instead of either Knightmare or shirtless Batman, but didn't we already know that was the case? We're getting Ra's al Ghul in a set, so I'm finding it hard to find major fault with the minifigures either.
  19. Those are the same, but the only person who mentioned Pop Star specifically was CM4Sci, and he was specifically saying they shouldn't use that color of hair. Most people (myself included) want that hair in Dark Orange, but it doesn't exist. Enforcer Zer0 wanted that hair in Reddish Brown, and it doesn't exist either.
  20. Wow, I totally agree with nearly all your points. Personally, I think a (theoretical) Dark Orange version would work best for Widow, but it doesn't exist either. I'm going to order Intergalactic Girl's hairpiece from Bricklink for Agent 13, because I think the current one is just too dark for her. It might be too wavy too, but I'd still like to test it.
  21. If you delete the "http://1.1.1.1/bmi/" part, it loads at a reasonable speed.
  22. Good points! I heartily agree with all of them. If Lego is attached to having a base blue torso, then another potential solution is to have more layers. Lego only does a certain number of layers of print on any piece (with a typical maximum of 5, I think, for licensed parts). Older figures often used those layers to basically lay down some primer, so that a light colored print on a darker torso showed up very brightly and crisply. Newer figures usually use those layers to add more colors and details, but at the expense of the background color showing through. Here's a comparison of the two aesthetics, with the old look on the left, the new one on the right. However, the current Spidey does neither. He only has two or three layers of print on his torso: black and red, and maybe a gray muscle print. He also only has two layers on his head: black and white. This makes the red torso look far muddier than it needs to. Because his design uses so few colors, Lego could absolutely afford to drop a layer of primer on first so that the colors show up perfectly. Other ways Lego could theoretically improve Spider-Man: Printed Arms. Ideally, this would mean blue arms, with a very wide stripe of printed red, and black webbing printed on top of that. Dual molded and printed legs. Ideally, this would mean thighs=blue, calves=red, with black webbing printed on top of the red. Wrap-around head printing. They've done it in the CMF line with Skeleton Boy, so we know it's possible for them to print lines extending all around a head, and connect on the other side.
  23. I'm saying if you're painting the whole head (minus the mouth) anyway, why not use a cheap head? Why use Iron Fist? You're preserving none of the mask or eyes. Sure, maybe he looks like Daredevil before painting, you're painting over all that anyway! Just paint what you would have painted onto a face that looks like Charlie Cox or Ben Affleck. And something to try purist would be Carol Danvers' red head. Dunno exactly how it would look with the lipstick (I don't own that head), but it's red with a flesh lower face.
  24. Jaime, Cersei, Jon Snow, Brienne, Jorah, Podrick(??) [next to Brienne] and Jeor(??) [next to Jon] are amazingly perfect, if the last two are who I think they are. Most of the rest work pretty darn well (again, if I'm guessing right; a key would help). The weak link is probably Tyrion (yet again, assuming that's actually Tyrion). That face just doesn't capture him at all.
  25. First off, most people here would like to avoid the physical modification of parts. Second, that's painting practically the whole head! Why not use a cheaper head than Iron Fist's? Third, that's still only the head, not the whole figure!
