Okay, didn't realize which of his masks you were talking about. Really, you can't beat the polybag for comic accuracy; the prints are designed to match Winter Soldier's initial comic appearance in the Brubaker run. But if you're not going to get that figure, I'd recommend the recent Nightwing head, from the DVD polybag; it has the more accurate eye color over the older red Nightwing figure. Also, this one's totally up to you, but if you're going for max comics accuracy and simultaneously NOT the first appearance version, you could use a different hair piece; in the comics, Bucky got a haircut pretty much immediately after the introductory arc to a more military cut. Edit: There are still more options for the domino mask if you want something slightly less angular than Nightwing; I think this Robin head has an expression serious enough for a comic Winter Soldier.

Use the Ninjago bandana piece in black over a face you like. It's cheap and compatible with the proper hair piece. It's what I did until I got the polybag at a good price.

Hey, if some of you in the UK have got your hands on the sets, can you enlighten us as to why there are two Kamala torsos in the set if it's made obvious in the instructions or packaging (that is, if there really are two in the final UK release)? Is it just so Adaptoid can steal her powers? I assumed it was included in case there's something wrong with the part; with a smallish new mold that's vital to the set, Lego would rather be safe than sorry. But people with sources here on this forum implied there was a reason for doubling up that would be obvious if you got it.

While it won't change the lighting, do you have larger images somewhere? I can't quite make out most of the figures you're talking about in these small embedded versions of the photos, and I'm curious about your Kamala, Spider-Gwen, etc. The ones I can see look good, though!

That's fantastic! Does it have an interior? It looks like it's at roughly minifigure scale, but I can't tell if there would actually be room for any figures inside.

The Rocket face print certainly looks a lot more like the Rocket in the movies than the previous head did. The Reddish Brown torso seems like an odd choice given how much dark blue there is on it, but I guess it must have been easier to print that way.

Hey, sorry to disrupt the conversation (personally, I don't have any preference as to how the robbers are done), but can I just gush for a second about how smart it was to give Detroit Steel the Iron Man 2 style Justin Hammer hair+head? It solves the problem of the actual Detroit Steel character being inconsequential and boring, while giving us an MCU character we never would have gotten otherwise. In fact, with the three characters in the set, it turns it into a pseudo-Iron Man 2 set, just like the Scuba and Space Iron Man figures formed a pseudo-Iron Man 3 wave this past January. I feel like this makes the future inclusion of a Mark 1 suit into a set more plausible. I've not decided whether or not to get the set itself yet, but I'll definitely be getting Coulson and the Justin Hammer face piece, either through the set or on the secondary market. The IM figure himself isn't something I need (I don't like that suit in the comics, it's new enough that it's not iconic, and it doesn't fit the role of "classic-comic-IM" for my collection and dioramas any better than, say, the Marks 6 or 7), nor do I have a use for the Steel mech, but the flying car looks nice and the two new characters are very appealing to me. On another note, at this point, I'm waiting for someone to get the Ms. Marvel figure and try to shove typical Lego arms into the sockets. If anyone has the figure early and can let us know what the result of that is, I'd be extremely grateful. I assume it's "No, the socket is just too different" or "the socket's wide enough, but the arms just fall out", but I'd still like to know; I'd rather be disappointed sooner than later.

Wow, I disagree with everything you've written here. I think red, white, and black printed Man-Bat arms would look fine for the pose we see in the trailer, I think they'll probably update Spider-Man's torso to correct the logo, and I would be disappointed if they DON'T update that torso. But I do think (given Lego's propensity for re-use) that the Iron Man figure we get will be the Civil War one, because the suit we see in the trailer looks exactly the same as the one in CA:CW. Someone mentioned the gold shoulders, but he already had those in CW.

Guys, if you notice, raminator capitalized the word Fox for emphasis; that's because Fox DOESN'T own F4 OR have the F4 film rights. The rights are technically (this is a technicality to trump all other technicalities) at the German company Constantin Film Produktion, who got them from Marvel. They merely allow Fox to make their F4 movies for them. So even if Fox said, "nah, we're done. This franchise blows. Marvel deserves it back," Constantin could take their rights to Universal and have them make a Fant4stic 2 sequel. But this is probably not the place for said discussion.

Am I correct in presuming that even if you removed Kamala's weird noodle arms, you couldn't install regular arms because the torso's socket is the wrong shape? Or is there some tiny chance that the Lego designers were kind to us and gave the new torso piece both functionalities? This whole thing is making me very tempted to break my aversion to knockoff figures.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
N_Cat replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Red Hood is actually significantly bigger than the other figures, with the armor and dome creating an imposing silhouette. Because he's (kinda) obscure and they didn't want him to overshadow the other figures, they scaled his photo down so that it wasn't as big as the other figures who're draws for the series (Batman, Joker, and Harley are bigger deals to kids, though he's probably a bigger deal to most of us AFOLs). The problem is that the change in scale was big enough that the difference in torso/legs between him and the other figs is noticeable to the naked eye. I can't say I know why they didn't go for a less extreme change, but my guess is that they tried, but it made the arrangement of figures look too uniform in height, and they wanted a more random, assorted look for these promotional/packaging photos to represent the grab-bag nature of the CMF lines. -
I've never owned that piece, only the bigger, heavier pull-back motor piece. Does the small one work well on its own, or do you need ballast bricks to weight it down?

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

I love the detail and design of the Catwoman figure. It looks fantastic, though like most of this series, I don't think I'll get it because it's too far away from the versions of the character I like. If they could re-use the design and just color match the Arkham City version (black suit, pale skin) for the next comic-based figure, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. -
Freeze looks awesome. I've held off on getting any version of the character thus far, and this one is so perfect, I'll definitely get him at some point. With a suited Riddler and a red-goggled Freeze, we're finally getting some of the designs I actually want. As an adult, I have little use for the set proper, so I'll probably scout for him on Bricklink or ebay until I find one at a price I like. The black and yellow bat tiles are cool, but I'm not going to buy the set for them.

Looks great! It doesn't look like all the pieces there actually exist in those colors, though. -
Holy cow. That's gorgeous. I love the exterior, and there's no need to change the windscreen color, because the trans-orange looks great. The interior already looks professional, so I don't think there's a need to change it, but you can if you want to. But don't change anything about the outside, because that beauty's perfect.

While I think the new figures are generally better, there are some trends I dislike. Printing a design that begins on the torso, goes across the hip, and then goes onto the legs severely limits the usability of the parts. If I think a figure's hips and/or legs are the wrong color, I can't swap them out for a different pair I own, because the design is incomplete. But if I do it anyway, then I'm left with a pair of legs that look weird; if I put them on a new figure, they would introduce a new pattern halfway down. I'd love it if every torso and every legs were designed such that their prints would work on their own, without needing the other. My preference (across Lego) is that detail be created through interesting combinations of parts, and if that can't be done, then include print on a single piece, then if that can't be done, print across as few parts as possible because of the re-usability problem, and ideally I'd never want stickers (I never apply them at all anyway). I think the unprinted dual-molded arms and legs are a step in the right direction, because they can be swapped in and out without ruining a figure's design, though it basically squares the number of arms and legs possible and very few of those possibilities have been released so far.

Hmm, his mask is pretty good, but I don't think the unsure-of-himself expression is a great match for Daredevil, who usually alternates between cocky and stoic. Do we know if Calendar Man will have an alternate expression yet? If he does, it could be a better match for DD, but it would also mean we'll need to cover the back of his head.

Oh, okay, very cool then, something original. Is this version of Aquaman part frog? It feels fitting given that frogs are amphibious and Aquaman is also amphibious.

You've got some very nice figures there. I've not been keeping up with most of DC lately, so I can't claim familiarity with the characters, but Godspeed at least is spot on. Nice job! I couldn't find the JL of Earth 34; the DC wiki claims that Post-Crisis that was a world called "Amazonia", and Wikipedia says that in New 52 that's a world where JL parodies live. In which multiverse or what media did it have evil versions of the characters? Your figures are nearly always fantastic, and when it's someone I don't recognize, I always love to see the original characters for comparison.

http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=40251&idColor=8#T=C&C=8 They made that piece until 2011, but only in black, old brown, and reddish brown (and shades of orange that wouldn't work at all). None of those are the dark brown that's perfect for Kamala, but they could work. I personally think that the old brown is probably the closest.

Whoa. Scarecrow is the standout feature here. For a tiny, cutely disproportional toy figure, he's downright terrifying. My favorite Scarecrow designs (Batman Begins, Arkham games, New Batman Adventures) tend towards the monstrous and freaky, while all the official Lego designs have generally gone to a sillier side of the character. Yours is just as scary as any of those three, and in particular it reminds me of the TNBA design, though obviously there are differences. I can't tell what face you've used (adding to the mystery), but if it were mine, I'd use the 2002 Tusken Raider head, because it looks alien enough to still be scary when seen in that get up, while I think the official Scarecrow heads are a bit cutesy and might ruin the effect when seen from head on. Freeze and Two Face are also pretty great. Nice! A great solution if we don't get him in the upcoming GotG2 wave.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

Does anybody (or everybody) else feel like the Freeze armor is too big? The dome looks nice, but that armor looks bulky, ungainly, and disproportionate to the rest of the figure. Personally, I also think it's a problem that it's exactly the color of his skin, rather than matching or coordinating with his outfit in some way. -
As a property, Thor is probably the least-utilized Marvel IP. Iron Man's gotten Pepper, Tony, Rhodey, and the Iron Man 3 villains, and all his suits. Characters relevant to the series that we've gotten have included Nick Fury, Black Widow, and we will be getting Coulson soon enough. Captain America's gotten Cap, Falcon, Red Skull, Hydra, and Winter Soldier, and if you want, you can re-count Nick, Natasha, and also Maria Hill. Hulk's gotten 4-5 variations on the Hulk himself, and we're getting the upcoming set that adds 3 new Hulk-themed characters. Guardians of the Galaxy got three sets that filled almost the entire stable of characters for the film, and they're getting more sets next year. Even Ant-Man got three figures that are all named main characters from his franchise, and the same can be said for Doctor Strange. That's not even touching on the dozens of Spider-Man characters and the dozens of less-affiliated Marvel universe characters. Thor, on the other hand, has only gotten two characters represented, ever. Thor's plot lines and characters have been integral to four films of the MCU, roughly 25% of the total content, yet the only characters we've gotten are Thor (in two similar variants) and Loki. It feels to me like the Thor-related side-characters have been in a weird dead zone this whole time. They're not desirable enough to sell a set by themselves, but they're too weird to include to throw into a set with another theme. Sets featuring the Asgardian cast would've needed Thor or Loki or both to make them marketable, but Lego didn't want to overexpose Thor and Loki because they had other uses for them. So here's why I'm unhappy that Thor is only getting a single set: I assume a Ragnarök set would give us a new Thor variant and a new Loki variant (both have new, actually different costumes), and one or two of the major characters of the film. Both the Ant-Man set and the Doctor Strange set have set a precedent that these superhero movie single-set waves tend to be smaller, with only 3 figures, but that could change. The problem is that Ragnarok has a different cast of characters than the other Thor films; the biggest roles (and the most likely to be turned into toys) are expected to go to Hulk, Valkyrie, and Hela. Even if the Ragnarok set were a big ol' $60 monster, that still wouldn't give room for us to get Odin and Sif and Heimdall, characters who've been important to the series up to this point. My ideal second Thor set would be something like the Bifrost observatory, with the three aforementioned Asgardian characters, but I know that won't happen at this point. I'll be surprised and happy if they even include one of the "classic" MCU Thor/T:TDW characters in a set next year, or really at any point in the future.

This is great! It's very cool to see another design for this building. I love it! Why's the Quinjet tan-colored, though?
