  1. I've checked every day for a couple of weeks now to find a store that has this model in stock for a reasonable price. This morning Lego S@H had it in stock, but just for a couple of hours. When I was ready to place my order it was out of stock again. Now, John Lewis seems to be the only store again, and the price is good. Do you live in the UK, or do they ship internationally?
  2. The close to 5000 pieces 70620 Ninjago City set certainly looks impressive. I tried to look for new technic parts, without much luck. The only recolor I spotted was the 1x2 liftarm, 43857, in Dark tan. There are probably more to be found.
  3. @Darkdragon Thank you! I didn't realize you were able to scroll down on the settings page... Just saw the top part. Now it should be solved.
  4. Hi! I don't know if this is something wrong, or if I just don't understand what notification settings to use. When a new comment is posted in a topic I follow, I would like to get a notification from the site only. Not via email. I don't understand how to get it to work like that, if it's even possible. If I turn on notifications I get them via email only, and if select "Do not send me emails" in notification settings I get them anyway and still no notifications on the site. What settings am I supposed to use if I want to receive notifications from the site only?
  5. Some of them work now, I found this when I wanted to check some trucks out for inspiration so most of the links to trucks don't work. I found that the links that don't work, e.g. US Truck T1 Mk11 (By LegoOrNot2Lego), don't look the same as the links that do work, e.g. Motorized Bus. Couldn't post the URL since that embeds the topic.
  6. They still don't work for me...
  7. I know this is a little off topic, sorry for that. I thought your comment regarding Alfred Pedersen and bionicle/hero factory parts was interesting, could you give an example of a set he has designed where such pieces are used? Personally, I don't mind the usage of non-technic parts, I think it's interesting to see how parts can be used in different ways.
  8. @Jim or @Milan, most of the links in the HOF index are not working. They just bring you back to the same page.
  9. I found this on the 40 Year Anniversary page on the Lego Technic Site: THE 40 YEARS ANNIVERSARY POSTER COMPETITION Join our 40 years anniversary competition and help us find the most iconic LEGO Technic model of the past four decades. To participate, go to our Facebook page and choose your favorite Technic model from each decade. The winning model from each decade will then carry on to battle for the title of the “Ultimate LEGO Technic model”! If your choice is among the winning models, you’ll have the chance to win a specially created limited edition LEGO Technic poster. Join the competition now! I wonder if this "Ultimate LEGO Technic model" will be released later...
  10. I don't have that set, but I can see that the rotation of the back section is driven by a worm gear that meshes with a 8 tooth gear. That configuration usually has quite some play, and since the worm gear is slightly shorter than 2L it can slide sideways with increases the play even more. I would say the play you are experiencing is normal, unfortunately.
  11. Even the professionals say you should do as little as possible in editing softwares. If something can be done the "old school" way, they result will probably be even better. It's also great fun to come up with such creative solutions as you did. Great work!
  12. Very good model and excellent photo indeed. Creative solution to achieve this effect with simple household items. What camera are you using?
  13. Thank you, I thought it might be more durable than it looks to be. I really have to get this set...
  14. As a Technic enthusiasts I spend almost all of my LEGO budget on Technic sets, but I feel like I have to get this one. It looks stunning, the shape is perfect, one of the best looking sets ever in my opinion. The build seems to be very interesting with lots of uncommon techniques used. I have one question though; How durable is the finished model? The connections used to achieve the round shape seem to be rather flimsy but I can't tell from the pictures.
  15. Very interesting! I'm a big fan of all cars manufactured by Tesla and I'm looking forward to see how your model turns out. I might be working on a Tesla myself as well ;-)
  16. I think this is a very interesting topic, but I don't think anyone should feel attacked. It's just about different tastes, all of us prefer different building styles which is quite interesting to discuss and talk about. There's not any right or wrong here, I prefer the "purism", but the imagination is the only limit and any model can impress me regardless of the building techniques used.
  17. For me, the joy with building MOCs is the challenge of figuring out how a certain function can be achieved with Lego, and Lego only. I'm currently working on three different models, and when they're completed I want to create instructions to make sure other enthusiasts can build my models. Therefore, I want to use parts that can be easily referred to on sites like Rebrickable and BrickLink. I also try to build with parts that are currently used in the Lego system. I also avoid old, outdated parts that are difficult to get your hands on, even though I might own them. For this reason, I have no interest in buying the RC Buggy motor for example since using that in a MOC would result in less people being able to build it. Everyone has their own tastes, but I actually like building my models in the same style as the official Technic sets. More complex, somewhat "illegal" models really can impress me, but I prefer 100% pure models with as legal building techniques used as possible. Nowadays, the SBrick is commonly used instead of IR receivers in custom models. It really has it's advantages for sure, but I prefer using the PF system only, despite it's limitations. Instead I hope for a future versions of Power Functions where models can be controlled in a similar way as with SBrick.
  18. I don't know any Technic set where I thought the B-model was better than the A-model. Sometimes, it might be just as good, but most often it's not near as interesting in my opinion. The A-model and inventory is the only thing I look at when considering buying a set. EDIT: It has actually happened once. I thought the B-model for the Claas Xerion was better than the A-model, but it wasn't really another model, just another attachment.
  19. I pretty much decided to only get the Rescue Vehicle this year, but I've made up my mind. This looks like a great model! I still don't think the Tow Truck will grow on me though, it's totally the opposite of how I want a technic set to be. I wonder how this video could leak so early...
  20. Hi 1. Check the parts library on Brickset. Currently set to 2015 but just change to 2016 and 2017 as well. 2. The M-motor is still the smallest motor in the PF system. The micro-motor is currently the smallest motor you can get, and it's quite expensive as you said. There have been rumors of a updated version of the PowerFunctions system. TLG has hinted about it, but we don't know when that will happen nor any details about it.
  21. I thought about them as well. Don't think theres any info about that yet...
  22. A new Creator carousel set that will be released by 1st of June includes a couple of the new non-friction driving ring connectors in light bluish grey. There might be some other interesting technic parts hidden in the model as well. Heres the full topic with more images:
  23. I don't think TLG mind if the box weighs a little too much since the weight checks are made just to make sure no parts are missing. If both sets had an extra wing, all sets probably come with one extra, like the extra 32L axle in 42009
  24. I remember I had two 7L beams left when building the Arocs. I found the place for them pretty quick so it wasn't a big deal. I think that's the only time I have experienced that. Mistakes are made every now and then, but I usually discover them before finishing the model.
  25. Make sure all gears and axles can rotate smoothly. I checked that every time I added a new gear or other moving part and made sure I hadn't built those parts to tight.
