  1. I don't know why y'all are complaining about the drama over nova malto. It's stuff like this that makes BoBS fun. All this started when I built a fort and @Ayrlego came up with his brilliant plan. What would we be doing if Pax Corlandia hadn't happened? Eslandola would just be slapping down more settlements on Victoria and Corrigton would be improving island number 14. That's boring. Instead, we have 3 armies facing each other at gunpoint over a ruined settlement, where a terrorist is on the loose! How cool is that? This is the first time I've actually really been interested in BoBS. Things are happening! Not just the usual boring properties that get tossed down while we all wait for the MCRA. And if it caused some drama, so what? After all it's just a game. I honestly don't care what happens to WTC or corrington or Eslandola. This is something I do for fun. If a war is caused because of this, so what? It'll be fun no matter what happens. If anyone isn't having fun becof what happened in game, your playing wrong. I could lose all of my ships, and I'd have a blast.
  2. Very Nicely done Thaum! I like how you did the Kiwi plants, they turned out very nice.

  4. Uh.... Yeah, I hope she makes it back too....

  6. To Gov. Willem Guilder Unfortunately, due to recent events, Wayfarer Trading Corporation, hereby referred to as WTC, has been forced to instead ramp up troops in Nova Malto. As an unknown saboteur has destroyed the WTC Wolf's Blood, WTC has no choice but to increase our military presence in a hunt for the saboteur, and to prevent future terrorist actions from occurring. We do not know what nation these fugitives hail from, so all must be suspect, including Corrington. Additionally, all ships entering and leaving Nova Malto must be inspected, to prevent future incidents. We know that if a similar incident had happened on your soil, you would too would be forced to take these actions. WTC would appreciate all efforts in finding the saboteur or saboteurs. We know for certain they have not escaped Nova Malto. They must be caught, and brought to justice. Regards, Captain Mesabi, CEO of Wayfarer Trading Company
  7. Relief efforts were finally winding down, as the Settlement of Nova Malto settled into its new position as a free city. But still a few ships had to unload their precious relief supplies. Captain Mesabi and Account Darby Tyler stood on the quayside, as the WTC Wolf's Blood was being unloaded. "So the Manifest says its carrying gunpowder, alcohol, textiles and mining explosives?" Said Darby "Well, technically mining explosives are just gunpowder and textiles, but yeah." Replied Captain Mesabi So what do we do now? Are troops have to leave to make sure we don't violate neutrality rules!" Said Darby "Eh, don't worry about it." Replied Captain Mesabi "Happy Birthday!" an unknown voice cried. "You say something?" Asked Darby BOOOOOOOOOM!!!!! The Ship had practically vaporized. The Quayside was littered with splinters and broken crates and barrels. There was screaming all around. "Oh Gods! Oh No Oh No Oh No!" Yelled Darby "Pipe down, we've got work to do." Said Captain Mesabi "I think we might be on this rock a little longer than planned..." He concluded FIN Thanks for viewing my build, just a little something I whipped up before the end of the month, I know it's a little simplistic, but it serves its needs. C&C appreciated.
  8. very nice build! The sloped road is very well done. Could use some roofs though. What settlement is this in? The build doesn't really say.
  9. Dear Sirs, and Madams shareholders, Wayfarer Trading Company, hereby referred to as WTC, hereby launches relief efforts as part of operation Pax Corlandia. The Ship, WTC Beacon, loaded with relief supplies, has set a course for the ruined settlement of Malto. WTC will help make sure that the new settlement of Nova Malto, stays free. In the name of Commerce for all company's and nations, Nova Malto must stay free. Regards, Captain Mesabi CEO of Wayfarer Trading Company The wind blew Wayfarer Trading Company Accountant Darby Tyler's hair, as he leaned over the side, having finished vomiting. Nova Malto by North White, on Flickr The WTC Beacon swayed gently in the breeze. It was another sunny sea day. Nova Malto by North White, on Flickr A seagull landed on the railing. "We'll be reaching land soon!" yelled the helmsman Nova Malto by North White, on Flickr Darby walked into the captain's Cabin, where Captain Mesabi and Lt. Isaac stood. Nova Malto by North White, on Flickr "You finished?" Asked Captain Mesabi "I don't know how you people do this, I feel so ill." replied Darby "Cheer up mate! We'll be hitting land soon." said Lt. Isaac "Yes! And then we will help those poor wretches of Mardien blood, and they will treat us as their saviors! And WTC will make lots of money off this endeavour." Said Captain Mesabi cheerily "How exactly will this pay off our massive debt to Brickwolf and the bank of Corrington?" Asked Darby skeptically "Simple! it's a threefold strategy. The Queen is subsidizing this operation, WTC will have the first foothold in Malto, and grave robbing!" Answered Captain Mesabi "I..." Darby was speechless. "Oh, that reminds me, I went over our cargo manifest, and we forgot shovels." Said Lt. Isaac. "Bah! Does anything ever go right?" Yelled Captain Mesabi Nova Malto by North White, on Flickr FIN With the WTC Beacon having anchored close off shore, the First Relief Division marched its way along the road into Malto Smoke was in the air, and fallen soldiers lined the road into the city. Soon they reached the gate, Nova Malto by North White, on Flickr Nearby, a mass grave was being filled with bodies Nova Malto by North White, on Flickr "Alright Darby, make a note of that spot. We'll come back tonight" Said Captain Mesabi gleefully "Captain, even if I wasn't outraged by this, as it is not only an affront to minifigkind, the Gods, and what Corrington stands for, I'm fairly certain they took the valuables off the bodies before they buried them." Answered Darby "Oh." Captain Mesabi replied The company entered the gate Nova Malto by North White, on Flickr The acrid smell of smoke wafted through the air. The scene was one of chaos, a carriage had crashed into the gate, and had been half stripped for firewood. The Garrison was half collapsed, having been hit by cannonfire. A large bonfire took up the street, where a horse was being roasted. Nova Malto by North White, on Flickr "Did I ever tell you I had to eat horse? Was back during the war. Oleon raided our supplies, so we had to make do. So we ate horses. I tell you, there's nothing better than roast horse after a long battle." Said Captain Mesabi, wistfully "I think I have to vomit again." Answered Darby "Honestly, how is that even possible, that's all you did on the voyage over!" Replied Captain Mesabi The Residents of Malto eyed them suspiciously as they walked through the ruined city, but did nothing. Nova Malto by North White, on Flickr "Hades! They're starving!" Muttered Darby "Well, remember, you can't give malnourished people a bunch of food, no matter how hungry they are. It'll kill them. Saw that in the war, one company got separated, ran out of horses, and when they came back, they ate a bunch a food and got sick. Couple died." Replied Captain Mesabi "You're a fount of knowledge, Sir." Said Lt. Isaac. "Come on, we'll set up in the Inn." Said Captain Mesabi The three walked into the Royal Blue Inn, while the rest of the troops set up guard outside. A woman sat weeping over a coffin Nova Malto by North White, on Flickr "Let's see, maybe they have a table upstairs. If not, we'll use the coffin." Said Captain Mesabi The Woman sobbed harder. The three found a table upstairs. Darby rolled out some maps and papers. Nova Malto by North White, on Flickr "Alright, now the real work begins." Said Captain Mesabi FIN It was a week later, and the three sat at a desk, poring over papers. Nova Malto by North White, on Flickr "Men, I think we're off to a good start." Said Captain Mesabi "We've got a fort established and the city is being rebuilt. They're calling it Nova Malto." Said Lt. Isaac "I coined that." Said Captain Mesabi smugly "How did we build a fort so fast?" Asked Darby "Simple, we built over the old one, and starving people are highly motivated." Replied Captain Mesabi "Wait what?" Outside, work continued, with supplies being sorted and stored. Nova Malto by North White, on Flickr Below the three, a Mardien Chef prepared dinner. Nova Malto by North White, on Flickr And from the walls of the fort, a soldier kept watch, assuring that anyone who threatened the people of Malto, would be stopped. Nova Malto by North White, on Flickr FIN Thanks for viewing my trio of builds for Operation Pax Corlandia. I don't know what to license the ship as (any suggestions?) The Wall of Malto we be licensed as a large Artisan, the fort as medium fort. C&C appreciated
  10. To Gov. Willem Guilder Wayfarer Trading Company, hereby referred to as WTC, is pleased to see your efforts to help refugees in the Free City of Nova Malto. We welcome all efforts and expansions in the free city, as it is not bound, or owned by any particular power. We are, however, disappointed that it took Corrington action to force you to begin relief efforts. We would hope that politics would not play a part in relief efforts, but that now seems to be the case. Regardless, as long as the refugees are helped, WTC is satisfied. Regards, Captain Mesabi Wayfarer Trading Company CEO
  11. To Gov. Willem Guilder, The Wayfarer Trading Corporation, hereby referred to as WTC, is a major part of this operation. Regardless of whether or not one believes in the crisis in Malto, considerable resources have been devoted to repairs, new buildings, and relief efforts. Eslandola cannot simply deny the time and money spent to help minifigs on their island. We have seen no efforts by Eslandola to help rehabilitate the survivors of the war. Simply put, someone needs to do something. WTC and Corrington associates are doing that something. When Eslandola failed to send help to the starving, the wounded, the homeless, Corrington and WTC sent ships. And now, what would you have us do? Reraze the buildings we have constructed? Slaughter the livestock? Salt the fields? And while Corrington may have signed a copy of the treaty, which has conveniently not been provided to associates of the WTC, WTC has not signed this alleged treaty. WTC operates separately from Corrington, and does not take orders from it. While WTC was established and is run by loyal citizens of Corrington, It's interests are its own. If a division of Corrington troops is not to Eslandola's liking, a division of WTC mercenaries would be willing to step in. The people of Malto are our primary concern. Are they yours? We cannot allow politics to leave people in peril. Do you not adhere to the faith? The tenets which require us to help those in need? To clothe and feed the downtrodden? Finally, what are you willing to risk? You just finished one war, are you willing to fight another? Over a ruined settlement? The time for war is over, it is now time to rebuild. We will continue our operations in Malto, even if Corrington stops theirs. The crisis in Malto is simply to large to ignore. Regards, Captain Mesabi CEO of Wayfarer Trading Company
  12. Very nice build. I'm assuming it's a royal property?
  13. So, I was looking at the properties guide, and I've got to say I think values are a little skewed. Here's a table. Type Cost Size Profit Comparative Size Comparative Cost Comparative Profit Settlement Addition Small 25DB 16x16 5DB x1 x1 x1 1 Medium 50DB 32x32 10DB x2 x2 x2 2 Large 75DB 48x48 15DB x4 x3 x3 3 Royal Factory 3000DB >100x100 500DB x6.25 x120 x10 5 For a building 4 times as large as a small building, you only get 3 times as much profit. For a building 6 times as large, you get 10 times the profit, but you pay a prohibitively high 120 times cost to build it. This means while other buildings will pay for themselves in 5 months, royal buildings take 6 to pay for themselves. Since you guys are redoing the whole MCRA system, might you consider readjusting some values? I feel like building larger buildings has diminishing returns. Why would I build something 4 times as large when I only get 3 times the profit. And Royal buildings are especially egregious because they cost so much. And then there's the fact that they require at least 4 48x48 baseplates which cost about $7.00 from bricklink, and twice that from an actual retailer. In fact, I think there have been about seven of them, half in LDD. There was probably a lot of thought that went into this, and I got to say, I love BoBS, but I feel like the property values are a bit unfair. If I build an awesome, huge MOC, shouldn't I get more for it? Sorry if someone has brought this up before, but this is just my 2 cents.
  14. Hey, does anyone have a flickr album of Brickworld? I wasn't able to attend, but I'd still love to see the creations people made
  15. Please, just get the game launched. I just want to play AG again, new mechanics or no.
  16. There is a disturbance In the force... hopefully lego sues the pants off these guys. Lepin might be able to hide behind the patent expiration, but these guys are clearly infringing on trademarks
  17. Can we have the staff do something about these type of forums? I get that Eurobricks is for discussing lego, and that can include talking about what we like. But the fact that there are multiple of these topics in each theme is getting ridiculous. Does this really do anything but increase people's post count? Check these out It is my feeling that these topics do not contribute anything to Eurobricks. We all have our favorite minifigs, but there are thousands of us on Eurobricks and discussing everyone's favorite minifig would be a waste of time. And guessing games are silly because they don't accomplish anything either, I mean if enough people guess, someone is going to be right. Does anyone agree with me here? I mean if everyone else is okay with it, carry on. But if anyone else is with me, please stand up.
  18. One day while I was browsing craigslist, I stumbled upon an ad reading "12 lbs of Lego $40" Naturally, it peaked my interest, I mean 1 lb of Lego is like $30 on ebay. So I emailed the guy, and he gave me the address of a custom golf cart shop to pick it up at. This is what I got Craigslist find by North White, on Flickr Not exactly 12 lbs, but still an impressive amount of Lego. It took me about 4 days to fully sort through it, and it was really a great haul. 19. Congrats Ayrlego! But who won this? Mardier and Eslandola seem neck and neck! Gah, you guys are evil for making us wait.
  20. While scouting for his next mission, Captain Mesabi encountered a patrol.... Prelude by North White, on Flickr With a swift click, his underbarrel shotgun fired, ripping the man in half. Prelude by North White, on Flickr Nothing Would stop Captain Mesabi from his mission... Prelude by North White, on Flickr FIN Thanks for viewing my build. I'm still in this, sorry I missed campaign 2 . I'm not entirely sure if this can be scored, because it's not entirely reconnaissance. Judges, use your best discretion. And please let me know if this kind of build doesn't work. Apparently you can't do recon until level 21. Please wait to judge this build until such time as I hit that level. However long that takes...
  21. Finally got around to photographing my work space. It's built out of the closet in my room. Workspace by North White, on Flickr And here's my trusty label gun, something you mad men need. Workspace by North White, on Flickr
  22. Sorry to bump an old topic, but a ship like this needs some love. I really like what you did. My only criticism is the figurehead, I feel like you could have done something more creative.
  23. Oy. And there are even plenty of good dwarves, I mean all of the LOTR dwarves are good guys. I think all this proves is that we live in a culture that is currently very easy to offend.
  24. Bottom of an AAT?
  25. Thank you for all your advice. I've really been working hard on MOC's recently, and I think I've made some improvements. I think the best suggestion was to take apart things that needed improvement. Putting in more effort, especially into not making things look boxy has really helped me improve my builds. I might not ever be as good as any of you guys, but I'm getting better.
