  1. Im quite clueless as well. Looks like a weird mix of Legacy and Voltron. And most of all, I don't understand why theres just the same kind of fire snakes - at least according to descriptions. Even if we did get less budget for the villains in the last waves - it would mean we really get almost no budget for them this time - no good sign for ninjago...
  2. Seeing some of the really cool but very unconventional and probably unstable MOC's of the Razor Crest - I really wonder how Lego would do an UCS version. I am happy with my own (mostly studless) MOD but of course to capture the real angles, you'd need to go bigger. I am really curious how Lego would go about the build. MOC's are great, but they use techniques that Lego would never allow themselves to use.
  3. hell yeah! Cole was a pretty cool design and I was really hoping to get him in a magazine. I think the dragon has a really cool colour scheme but otherwise it had it's weaknesses. Which is why for the first time since a while, I did not get the seasonal ninjago dragon. I kind of regret not getting the village on sale - just for the figures; mostly Cole and the "main villain". But other than individual parts orders and a polybag with the Lloyd figure I didn't (also for the first time) get any proper set of that wave. Which is fine, as I spent over 200 for the Hydro Bounty and the two dragons :s
  4. One problem here is though that Lego still doesn't go away from colour fixed parts. Like other brands have those kind of ball joints in multiple colours available much cheaper. I don't support any of those brands but I gotta say it's really tempting to think that not every creature has to have so much exposed weird grey parts in it. I think T-Rex, Tauntauns or Rancors were pretty cool. But compared to other toys they really lack detail as there's never that much print or fluid colour scheme. And all of the microfighter-animals were pretty awesome. Anyway they can coexist with each other. Like; do molds and builds. Same as UCS and affordable scale sets! We don't need to buy it all.
  5. Call it an exaggeration if you will - I more or less just count the times there were plans to cancel the tv show timeline. Which has never been executed as we know. But if you watch some of duckbricks videos or other stuff, you'll see there were plans a few times - sometimes more and sometimes less concrete.
  6. how do you guys and gals get the parts? When I was at a Lego store, they just sold complete figs in boxes. When I asked they said I cannot swap or modify them. But I dont want to buy several boxes of 3 figures if I just look for like 2 parts in each of the boxes.. Oh I didn't read that before making my comment. Unfortunate because BAM was the only good reason to go into a Lego store for me.
  7. the sales are just crazy. I got the robot car thingy for 6 bucks. Didn't even care for the build but the figures were too cool to pass for 3 bucks each.
  8. wow, you got some great MOC's! Sad most of em will never see at least a similar UCS release..
  9. I mostly take longer videos from Tommy Anderson and duckbrucks as a source and I think I remember like SEVERAL times where they kind of wanted to cancel the series in the current form. Like it was unclear what would happen after skybound, then it was unclear again after hands of time and if they would just take the ninjago movie universe and basically cancel the tv show universe, etc. I got the impression that the creators were under constant pressure until like s11-12, when TLG seemed to have realized that they have a constant source of income with ninjago. Even if it does tank at one point - I'd never believe ninjago to be dead, as long as Lego exists, because they could relaunch it at any point even with a break. Anyway - I'd still hope for some kind of spinoff from either ninjago or City - make an adventure theme; in combination with board + card games (=very cheap and simple production) they could also have the flexibility to touch on several "classic themes" from different periods. I think that would be the safest bet. I'm thinking a pimped version of Johnny thunder, related with either ninjago or city universe, so that it's not something completely new and unrelated.
  10. I was still too lazy/busy to make some kind of flickr. I wish this forum could just take uploads from us! but as soon as I get around to it, I'll upload a bunch of my modified Mando troopers
  11. in the last years we got so many rare/expensive figures in magazines - this year unfortunately not a single one of the rare versions. ...but the december version shows we'll get Ronin, from the ninjago city set. Pretty cool as non of the pieces are available on bricks & pieces!
  12. but it takes work. Like think of how long and diverse ninjago has served Lego. It was a really weird idea to begin with and they put a lot of effort into it - music, voice casting, lore... ...and TLG wanted to cancel it at least 6 times. If something weird as ninjago worked out like gold, I'm sure there are other formulari. But they needa good team with ressources for developing them.
  13. Do people really think Lego makes sense for a small group of AFOL's that want to buy every single set and are dissapointed if not every single one is up to their standards? Don't get me wrong, I understand that you dislike sets we get and would like others. But Why you bring moral in so much? They did do sets for CW7, Mando and TBB. Just that they are careful; it's not clear whether those sets would sell well on the market. Think of how bad the Rebels sets sold - and I love Rebels! Visions is something even weirder and more experimental - also a bit brutal and adult, from what I've heard. Why would Lego be the only company doing sets for this? I think SW is a mess for toy companies: all the new movies have been about rehashing old ships so all the big budget went into random alien, FO stormie and Ressistance molds. Would the designs have been half as creative as the prequel designs I'm sure toys would have been more of a success. As for new shows, they never know if it is something kids will like, probably they have very limited access to material as well, which makes planning a mess. Probably this is one OT-style wave and then there's the option of newer sets, maybe even bad batch (if the numbers were good). And no - both affordable scale plus the dioramas are something new. I was able to get a Slave one with better proportions and better figures than the bigger one for less than half the price. And before the Bespin duel, we never got any good "location" sets. Lego "listened" to fans who liked this set and now the make them for the whole market. Now people complain even about that...
  14. if those days are gone though: why does it work with Playmobil but not with Lego? And you could also say the same with any other "classic" theme, once Lord of the rings, GoT or whatever is "out" for some time. Anyway: LR was still a "classic" line up of sets. Could not have been more classic. Could have brought out every set without big changes and noone would have noticed ....I dont have numbers! Maybe I'm wrong. Just the fact that those relaunches were shortlived and Lego didn't continue something similar afterwards. Like with NK they didn't seem to have had enough trust for a purely medevil theme. Other than this my own experience was that many sets of those themes were heavily on sale - comparable to the last HS or NK waves, where you could see them sets like 50-80% off. As I travel due to my work throuout Europe and visist many shops when I can; that's not nothing but of course it's no objective number. What I find sad is, that Lego and the community seem unable to establish communication, where we could get proper answers to this kinds of questions. Maybe I'm wrong and they would say "we want to do something different". As it's a huge pile of money though - I assume if they don't produce it, they don't see money in it.
  15. honestly: the genius way of how angles are achieved, how much detail they managed to put in - even really good SW sets are no match for this kind of set. I even understand a UCS Landspeeder - the UCS/Creator car sets are quite popular and this is just a sci-fi car. But even if 4 legs, a trunk and a head would work for me - the recent AT-AT set with some mods is really great and its not small anyway. I'm happy if you guys and gals are happy but I never understood why there's even demand for building them legs 2 hours 4 times
  16. Even before the complete take over of licences/blockbusters and cinematic universes, Lego's "classic" themes failed or at least weren't that profitable. Among them being Galaxy squad, pirates and castle. The latter two were pretty conservative and could have used more creativity/detail and personality like we get with Ninjago. "Lone Ranger" portrayed - though being a licence - a pretty classic western scenario and according to the word failed pretty badly. I think Lego is on the right track by using existing themes for new interpretations of classic themes. And if a medevil wave of Ninjago and some Creator sets works have success - then they'd get motivated into doing an independent theme. I think it might be also a factor that Lego is simply too expensive to successfully start a new project. Playmobil also ain't cheap but from them or other brands you get quite a lot for your money anyway. If buy a decent castle from Lego, you gotta grab deep in your pockets. The solution I think would be an inclusion of more bricks per set, especially location based sets. From alternative "Lego" brands you get an awesome huge dinosaur for 50€ while you'd pay 200€ from Lego.
  17. Never. I tell my partner always "it is done now" and then months later after some new parts came out I get asked "did you change again/it looks different". There's a bunch of heavily modified/almost MOC'ish sets I want to get rid off (selling, once I find a proper page) so I simply had to put them away or I'd put more effort/time/money into them.
  18. I wasn't the biggest fan of the set due to the build being more "messy" and less colourful, than I would have liked. But it's a very decent build anyway (I got very high standards ; ) and I couldn't do much other then chaning some colours, changine/adding some detail. I'm sure there's ways to make it even much cooler but you'd have to completely redesign the body. The existing structure isn't so easy to change all that much.
  19. I just think this could play a role in the potential demise of TLG. Not saying it's like that; again maybe vidyo was just part of a "throw away budget". But can also be that they did lose a lot of money and maybe it is an early 2000's situation. I don't know - let's see. But the existance of proper alternatives, now even having decent infrastructure and communication within Europe doesn't make it easier for Lego.
  20. It's not TLG's fault that newer products are mostly OT rip offs instead of being new designs. What should they have done; bring out some naboo ship while the new movies with new/old X-Wings are running? I am pretty sure that the newer movies mearch would have made way more money with some PT style designs (more creative, different, colourful). But all Lego could do with the new movies was like "another alphabet wing, another small/big walker, another tank/speeder. As for the lack of PT sets: this is an everlasting controversy - would be great if TLG officials could clarify this once. They did for SW Rebels 2-3 times and it was made pretty clear that they were huge flops. And this is coming from a guy who loves Rebels and the designs for the show were the PERFECT mix between new and old. But if there is similar trauma about EPII sets or bigger PT sets in general, then why not just accept the superior market for the OT? Personally, of course the big naboo ship would be pretty neat and the lack of Padme figures is just a disgrace. I get that it's a boys market but since they can bring in General ol beard Dondanna or whatever, I'm sure they could throw in Padme in some of the sets.
  21. I hope that vidyo is just TLG's "art" departement, from which they usually bring out movie sets. They are always weird, have lots of colours, new molds and prints but yeah - super weird, questionable in terms of how much people will be interested in random Batman villains, or random figs like from the other Lego movies. Can be that this departement is able to throw around with money. Can also be that it's a 2000 situation and the named movies as well as vidyo are breaking the company. Who knows of us? All I can say: like the movies, vidyo has great stuff but as it lacks any licence to pull from existing interest, doesn't work as an app properly nor would it compete with any good apps or video games in general - and of course it's crazy expensive. About the overall topic: something noone here has argued against so far is, that there are pretty good Lego alternatives in middle Europe. And they are on the rise; soon they will bring out the first proper Star Trek sets. I don't support those brands at all but I have to admit: quality is the same and better, sets are more colour consistant, animal builds, modulars are better designs, pretty interesting nature and art sets (before Lego did them btw), very good PR and social media communication. ...most importantly you get a 2000 parts set for like 70€ and a 15.000 parts set for like 300€. In equal to better quality. If those brands are able to expand, Lego is in trouble in some of their biggest markets. Again, I don't support them for ethical reasons but I have many friends who switched from Lego to those brands.
  22. Let's see. This year we got some SW sets that were "cheaper" and or better deals overall, than we are used to. Again, I am not judging TLG as a company but I think that the divergence between different brands (alternative Lego or alternative "action toys" in general) and Lego is just so crazy big. Meaning: you get 2 working RC cars for 20 bucks or one tiny, small thingy without too many features from Lego. Especially because of the rise of alternative brands in Germany and areas and the negative campagns - I fear a snowball effect at some point against Lego.
  23. As some maybe know, TLG will adjust the prices in some european countries. Mostly that will mean price increases from 5-20€ in Germany and some other countries. I didn't find any topic which I found weird, as this has been discussed on other related social media. What do you guys and gals think of this? I find the thought itself (even prices among Europe) and some reasons for the move make a lot of sense. And I never judge a profit oriented company for acting in their best interest, also since I don't know the internal structure myself. But as a consumer and someone who tries to analize the market, I feel like this is a very insensitive move; at least the way it is executed. Not just that you could literally purchase an existing set cheaper this year, which might make them a hard sell afterwards. In Germany there is already a lot of pretty decent alternatives to Lego and a lot of valid and - in my opinion - very trollish criticism of TLG.
  24. You managed to make a big point (that I'd like to adress some time) but without any response to my arguments? What about clearly political captain america? What about pretty much equal women in sets since like 3-5 years? And surely there are and have been other occasions of TLG donating and promoting other companies, movements, brands or whatever which just were not on your radar. Btw some twitter or whatever interview of Lego is not that significant, compared to their products that are distributed in many countries. Among those products being many british and american symbols despite sometimes questionable cultural background. I'm not arguing against the products. I just try to deconstruct the argument that they are apolitical while other things are. Now I'd like to counter argue like 500 things you wrote, having worked for years with people, who were enslaved then kind of enslaved, driven out, exploited, etc. ..then there was holocaust where they tried to kill them all by gas, shooting, burning, working to death, etc. - and these people never got any reparations, their history was never reflected and they are still discriminated against, driven out of their homes. They are people like us with flaws and strenghts, but despite the described past - there's so many clever people among them and clever or not, we try to incourage them plenty times. I don't know if you make up your mind from afar without ever at least looking into the shoes of someone affected or if you are a social worker who is very close to those topics. Anyway it can also be empowering to reflect WHY an incredibly smart woman does not have any chance ever to live decent but must give her poverty to her children, despite trying everything and working harder than most people you'd find in Germany (which in her situation I'd probably never do). Of course we would make events and reflect on how history has given some a better situation, some a harder situation and some an impossible one. Just to adress one of your points. Feel free to ask if something is unclear. If anyone was discriminating you our any other white man I am sorry for that and obviously that's not OK. If anyone is abusing a movement for something like this, that's obviously even worse. Power is always a tool, no matter in who's hand it is. But the support for the movement, which is about the fact that Black lives, Romani lives and others matter and the fact that we HAVE to make this an issue, is not because we want it to be, but because we literally know people who are affected by violence and discrimination from the state and radical groups (which are not trailed by the state) and because we have scientific proof of that structural issue. But yeah, it's a complicated long topic.
  25. How exactly do you stay out of politics? According to some peoples logic, Lego should not sell any sets with female figures - world wide. Cause you know in some middle eastern countries, they don't like em that way. Seriously, people make this argument all the time about the only 2 LGBTQIA+ sets so far. "not being political", often just means to hide within the existing power structure, not do anything controversial. If Europe would be more influenced by chinese cinema instead of hollywood, we'd probably have some kind of "China-man", with chinese symbolisma and propaganda, while "Captain America" or "Captain britain" would cause controversy. Everything is always political. Just if it's your own convenient politics and it didn't offend or exclude you, you never noticed this fact. -_____________________________ Do I like the company? It's a company. They are too big to really be ethical. Many people probably are. But it's a big company. I don't judge anyone; it's a system. If I dislike something, I don't buy it. Don't hate the player, hate the system.
