LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

While I think they could be a little bit more flexible with the rules about figures (simply for marketing reasons as it would not hurt to put in a few more figs) I understand and actually favour their arguments about figures. I could never afford the Boba from ESB with arm printing so it's nice that we don't have a 2-class system for figures (ESB Boba and partly Vader being the exceptions). ship looks pretty cool - except for the "windows" on the side doors but that would be an easy fix. I assume we could get a set or battle pack with clone troopers + hopefully a clone pilot soon. -

I don't quite understand does it look minifig scale to anyone? To me it looks more in scale with the other UCS sets (= too big for figs). So yeah I don't see too much sense in bigger than minifigscale-troop transports but as a build it looks incredible from the leaked picture. And the Mace Windu from that last weird Grevious set was perfect; for the first time he actually got an exclusive/accurate head print. If you don't do dual molding/boots, skirt piece there's not much to change. -

you are right - I didn't see the final product and overall the dual molding count shall be high! Just I feel like the Wanda figure looks pretty bad. The face bugs me mostly! With CMF's at least you always get pretty unique face prints! I even collected not so important ninjago CMF's because they gave me different face prints for characters who's standard head piece I got like 5 times. Wanda's headpiece still looks like it was designed for a different figure. I am only here for the parts/prints - but the Wanda character and the show actually intrigued me; I wasn't interested in any of the other shows. But ironically I might get most other figures while the Wanda fig doesn't have one interesting part for me and I could still make a better costume fig (in my Lego world at least ; ) -

I take back the word "trolls". I think we should all step back and accept we don't have any numbers. What may be pushed up here or on instagram will also not be representive of the market. So quote Socrates, I only know that I know nothing. But if you are interested it would be an interesting project to start bigger surveys on all the platforms - including youtube, reddit, IG, Eurobricks, brickset and wherever. Maybe they put in the first ever Lego orange piece. Or a real orange. -

the quality of the CMF's so far isn't as great as I expected but then again the last CMF's were a bit less intersting anyway. That Cap figure though is really cool looking. Hairpiece may also look off as it is not aligned evenly. I'm really glad we get some more diverse haircuts! That alone makes the figure desirable. -

The majority of UCS owners I know have little to no interest in figures. Other than UCS sets they buy like technic cars and stuff. Not to say this is anyone out there but just the people in this certain thread are not the majority. UCS sets so far had a certain style (the build, not many figures, little focus on interior). This set so far sounds like it will not adapt. Let's see if the prequel people (mostly younger I assume because for many older generations the prequels didn't matter much) are actually a market for this kind of set anyway. I don't think TLG would have done their homework right if they don't give in to some things (at least the inclusion of some figs doesn't push the cost compared to creating a new mold for a certain Clone). But still people voted for an UCS set and this is likely what they will get. If you want the brickvault moc and figures; go to bricklink and costume figure sites. Maybe this set will just be a defeat for prequel fans in any case if it doesn't sell well despite a survey that may have been rigged due to trolls or internet overpresentation. I'd find this sad because while not liking the movies, I do admire the designs. There's so many great designs compared to the sequels -> I can only think of the Ressistance Bomber and Kylos ship as original designs. Other sets were like punk versions of existing vehicles (not saying they looked bad; I really liked them just it was missing prequel level new designs. -

depends on what you want and like ;) Builds: BB shuttle for sure is easier to modify than the bigger set. Next to the additional seat I think you could also creat a small bunk bed for Omega. It's also something relatively unique while you will see other and better Star Destroyers (I think the FO SD was excellent). I cann't be too tough on the designers of the Moff Gideon ship because it's just hard to do this thing. The easiest way to make it look good would be to remove all interior and make it thinner. The best way to create more interior is to make it even bulkier. But it's still not a very good deal in the end. Moff Gideon is not that special - I expected at least a more expressive head print for that certain actor. I'm happy existing pieces making the characters myself. There's excellent costums available from other companies. The excellent Fennic fig we'll see hopefully in other sets (hopefully also with helmet and arm printing!) Other than this you get one dark trooper (were not so meaningful) and a also not very well accurate Cara Dune. With the BB shuttle on the other hand you get 5 very diverse and detailed figs (though not perfect) who also have meaning in the story. -

Im sure you can do even a good looking B-Wing. But not one that captures the original design. The new X-Wing may have some downgrades but actually even some parts that look better. The Tie Fighter is for sure a bit small but isshhh I still think that Solo version was looking soooo baaaaad. It was just big for no reason. Falcon: There's actually some MOCS out there with quite a bit of functions and smaller than the official versions. I'm sure they could do it! Another intersting thing is that figure inclusion seems to have found a new low point. As cool as the Darktrooper and Fennic are in the new Venator set - with Ninjago wave you could have gotten like 4 times of the amount of the figs plus much more new molds. Just putting in another dark trooper would have already made things much better (not that I would buy the set anyway but it's just not the best value this way). -
I think new and creative themes are always great but probably it's just not worth it. Look at how much effort and creativity TLG has put in the last in house themes: Elves, Nexo knights, Hidden Side, and even the movie set lines + the DC minidoll line is something mostly made up by TLG though not their own licence. ...but either non of them were working out that good or they were not designed to run longer. I can just say that the last waves of all of these lines had a lot to offer and even some kind of media product going along with them but at least from what info I have those good last waves were all ending up on sale and there wasn't a huge cry after continuation. Some hardcore fans would say they are not classic enough but I fear that they are to limited despite the wide range. Had Hidden side incorporated more facets; maybe it would have been more interesting. But I think the market is just tough for a hand-on toy like Lego today and even harder for non-licenced themes. I still dream of a spin off show from ninjago with 1-3 characters (lets say Lloyd, Akita and someone else) in a more european medevil world (with some more stuff that makes if interesting of course) with its own name and line. In any case I am doubtful of TLG's incorporation of technology. It's a great idea in general but so far it wasn't very advanced and seems mostly expensive. I think with any in-house theme they should focus on: the inclusion of board games - it's easy and cheap; Lego is perfect for that. Just give us back big plates or at least carton maps and cards. They could even give us Lego cubes and other things. better parts. Both for the looks but also for features. I cann't believe their 3-4 shooting mechanisms and ball joints is all you can do. The old ball joints are not looking too good and are way too weak for the bigger sets. Give us new specialized pieces that look good and have more functionality. The Lego City pull back motorcycles are a big step forward IF they work well.

How cool!! just the other day I was wishing for the CC build as incarnation for Jango's ship. I love also the new stand alone set from Boba but I think both "midi" versions have really good angles; like this one. Is it possible to post more pictures of it?

I think it's a successful s1 Mando calendar but just to me it's not very interesting. Others had at least many diverse figs and maybe one very interesting figure. This time it's just 2 prints on baby Yodas and Mandos torso pieces. A more elaborate print or even a printed helmet, a new face and some other figure would have been more interesting. I get that they couldn't include a Cara Dune figure with a MAGA hat ...but as I have gotten the Razor Crest and the tatoine set not even the side figures are interesting. -

Who know's if we'll see any sequel sets again in the future I think most sets you describe would actually work better even at that smaller scale. My A-Wing for 25 bucks for example captured the sharp edges much closer than the recent 50 bucks versions that were super bulky. But the B-Wing - I have no idea how to do with less parts. The last version was like 60 bucks and still way neither too big nor did it have the necessary detail. Unlike X-Wing's or Snowspeeders where the expensive Lego sets were waaay out of proportion (too big) and still not accurate with the elegant curves. -

I think the problem is less that there's no leg printing - sometimes this actually fits a fig more. But the detail from the torso down just "stops". And people probably wouldn't have minded a small cape. But with her; yeah it's hard to pin down what exactly her outfit is. Im here anyway only for the parts (I feel the shows are pretty soulless anyway) and this CMF will surely be a better delivery then the last few CMF's which had not that much detail. And this one's dual molded arms would be very very useful! -

In style of the new smaller (but in my mind mostly better sets) I think Jango's Slave I would be great to make. Boba's recent version is slighly bigger than the one from CC. They could do Jangos in the smaller style for like 30. Put Jango and Obi wan - perfect 30$ set. -

IF this is true - no idea what they could make with 1300 pieces. The HP style giant figures would be easy to do with ninjago I guess.. -

I did an order to costumize my recent sets - and most desired parts I found also available. So from a quick 20 bucks order it became 70 with some of the animals -

that would be soo cool. I think it look's like that but I wouldn't say without better pictures. Since I'll get the Slave I and the Armor's set I'd try to costumize the 3rd Mando helmet anyway. And suggestions what tools to use? Set btw looks pretty detailed; maybe a SW location set I will not scratch for parts. -

For what the sets try to be they are really really cool; I myself got most of them. But at least in Germany they seem to not have sold that well. I work with kids which doesn't need to mean it's everywhere like this but usually IF they get some Lego, they prefer smaller stuff with features instead of a bombastic 100 bucks mech that they cann't even handle anymore. Remembering correctly they got smaller stuff and non-Lego stuff at the time and I barely saw anyone with ninjago toys from the movie. I also liked the CMF - I think I never got as many CMF's as here due to my crush on asian and ninjago stuff. Oh and I loved that Wu figure; due to slightly different prints I got this particular CMF on sale like 4 times But again more speaking of a marketing point of view: I would do things differently so that more kids buy it. Keep the size for Kai, Cole and Lloyd mechs - but for Zane and Jay's vehicles I think kids would have prefered something smaller. I love that - like with TLBM and so on they go so big and weird. But I fear a bit this would ruin their movie franchise which in the end was ruined (though who knows for what and how many different reasons) Anyway glad you enjoyed the content!!

no, you do it manually on each engine. It's a really weird feature if you ask me - I have no idea how this ever passed the production stages. I just removed all the rope stuff entirely, it's not necessary and makes the ship less stable. -

Really? ISD's usually have the best interior right after the Millenium Falcon. It's obvious as there is a clear and consistant structure. This set and others (mainly bigger Alliance ships) have a way harder time, not to mention the Ghost. A ship like this just has a very hard time - it's supposed to be smaller than an ISD but even at this size and price due to the structure there isn't much you can do with the interior. From pictures I thought it's gonna be even less space. I feared a lot of space being dedicated to the Tie-launching feature in the front (is that even there?). At least it's 8-studs wide with some additional arm space remaining outside of that. I like also the suggestion of usable space in the front, like they did on the FO Destroyer. Makes it look bigger even though the space is useless. But on the sides and ad the "cockpit area" you surely could try to make at least some cargo space, a tiny baby cell or maybe even a dark trooper launcher. The first imperial and republic star destroyers just sucked in terms of stability and colour scheme - but if you wish you could sacrifice the structural integrity for some extra space and features. with TLG this can always take a veeeery long time -

From what we are used to and from sets that took my interest in SW this has a lot going on. I don't know if I prefer this or the Cloud City version - but both at least capture the shaping better then the other good versions. The 20th anniversary version had just the wrong cockpit to me and the UCS version - while having a perfect cockpit - was looking weird with the "red base parts", or whatever you can call that. It's just harder to capture roundness with many bricks together, compared to just using a combination of 2 specialised, newer round pieces. I'll try to modify it but this is a must buy for me. Good PPP ratio, very high quality figures, good build. Yes Boba could have used a waist cape, and updated helmet + jetpack, Mando a face print - but that's not things we could have expected. We didn't even expect a new Boba. And then we didn't expect arm printing. -

oh for sure even the negative stuff - it's all free ads for 'em. ..But the communication and relationships could be better. Like any company should have their own youtube channels by now - or at least some influencers they control better then the current ones. Im not saying this a good thing but that's how I learned PR (horrible business btw). It doesnt matter HOW far on the stick you are - there's a way to do it professionally. In TLG's case its just MESSY. ...so not to twist my words: like other brands they could create cheaper, more effective and more propagandistic advertisement slaves but they don't for some reason (for sure good reasons, I just don't know them). About the set reveal: I repeat myself but yeah, I still don't get the Gunship. Why would you do such a set in no-fig scale? Brickvault version + some changes and 1-2 new molds; a small army and voila; perfect 200-250 bucks set. Who knows but I even wonder if there is a big enough market for super expensive non-minifigure prequel sets. Yes it was a vocal group demanding this and other sets but I'd guess they's prefer a minifig scale set with a proper figure line up. ...so no interest in that but I'd very much like to have clear pictures on the rest of the sets as this is the first SW wave that interests me.
