LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
this has always been a weird thing tough. Infinite discussion: weird 1-off molds for whatever but not for something like this. Like, the most recent interpretations of popular characters (Obi Wan) were still using super outdated hair pieces, despite there being like 10 better alternatives. I almost want to congratulate the designers on their unique approach - never have I seen so many MOC-style building techniques. Ironically though the most important part of the N1 is the sleekness which is completely broken here, despite 2-3 more accurate proportions. The ultimate downer for me is the huge amount of dark grey though. Like how can you take a very light silver ship and make it so dark? Could have also been the concept art or Lego's rules about making non-UCS sets very colourful. I just think it would be a mess to modify this Another question: does anyone see a fleshy head under the helmet? As there is no hairpiece I would doubt it but to me it doesn't look black (and yes I know lightning in these pictures is never giving you the correct impression). Oh and: dark brown utility belt how cool!! -

Oh and the sequel movies were also bringing folks to the cinema. I'm just very sceptical about how this will reflect on toy sales for kids and so on. Maybe I'm wrong - but in the last years I never saw a single kid at work dressed up as Rey, Kylo, Zori Bliss or whatever. That's like a few hundred kids overall without a single case of Disney Star Wars products except for the Mandalorian. What I did see was some dads trying to give their kids Star Wars toys but the kids preferred Spider-Man, some animated movie characters (Frozen or whatever the names were). To be honest I feel like we've got around infinite hair molds since a few years. I'm glad about recolours instead of new molds being wasted on some background character who appeared 2 seconds. For the Quarren at least you could say it's mold is highly reusable for any aquatic, alien or Star Wars setting. Better if they make new Mandalorian helmet + jetpack molds -

hairpiece is out of production though (I got it but no Fennec for now..) and Lego wouldn't put it on "normal" Lego figs. Even though I can say from experience it's one of the best rubber hair pieces; fits very tight (some friends hair pieces tend to just fall off). -

Seeing what we had before (in my opinion more interesting figs, nice exterior) it feels a bit lacking. But I guess with the lower price and given the restrictions it's the best they could do. Crazy they really don't seem to be able to put some round pieces on the top. I guess you could order them for a few bucks anyway. Also doesn't look like there could be any rancor pit attachment. I think only the (much nicer looking) throne section with just 4-5 figs would have worked better. It will be interesting if the unpopularity of the show will have any effect on sales of Boba toys, as they basically pulled a Rian Johnson on the character and show . If it is recognisable enough as a EP6 set though it could probably just sell as that. -
Unpopular Opinions about LEGO
Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
1. There an incredible amount of toxic behaviour in the AFOL and Star Wars communities. 2. The level of immaturity is even more insane. 3. Many people missunderstand the concept of Lego. As Bluebrixx (alternative brand) was releasing Star Trek sets I was curiously observing the reaction of their community. With horror. Like there is a lot of valid criticism as there is with Lego and I am not the one who decides what's right, allowed or whatever. But come on we are ADULTS there's gotta be a line somewhere to NOT be crossed. I see that many Lego (or non Lego) sets could have been better designed, communication could be improved etc. But it's based on building blocks. There are limits within physics or within the world market to what this concept can do. What you can do though is improve builds with your own bricks and ideas. And not buy sets that you dislike. It's so simple. You even save money. I guess I also participate in toxic behaviour by complaining in a long comment instead of ignoring this issue. But I can't comprehend how grown up people can behave this way and I feel ashamed that our communities make it impossible for these companies to even know what direction they could take. I never bought anything from Bluebrixx but you gotta feel sorry their or Lego designers who put a lot of work into sets and then people just bash it. Not citicise. In many cases it's pure bashing without any reason or empathy. It's not the individual employees fault, that the market works this way, that there are issues with the supply chain or if you expect unrealistic things from a construction toy for kids. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
as for standard pieces it's only a question of time until there will be cheaper alternatives. There are some already and as they have parts in much more colours available I am thinking to order for the first time IF prices of standard pieces became too high. Not to blame Lego - from their perspective it must be a nightmare to have so many individual parts orders. I hope in the future high quality 3D printers can make this easier. They are a company. As with the recent Star Wars battle packs: if enough people buy products to make profit pleasing the higher ups than they can make them more expensive. We can buy it or not. We can also voice our opinion that the services suck - at least this they could do better (how outdated the shoppage is, availability of pieces). But also here who cares? B&P is probably a thing for the minority. I'm just feeling stupid I didn't take more orders before. It was clear this will happen. -
Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
No Marvel fan but wow that build is way better than I would have expected from Lego. I would have expected it to be full of exposed studs and gaps. And the inclusion of an exclusive figure plus the accessories is something the other helmets or whatever sets could learn from. and concerning detail on the sides of the hammer: looking at the design, I think it would have been hard to pull of stickers or prints with the way it's built. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
as I always work late that'll be difficult. But I'm still a little confused ^^ Like does anyone here combine orders? Because again; I think my orders of a few hundred parts are surely less substantial than those of many other folks with bigger collections here. Or is this simply one way but your computers ain't crashing from the large amount of pieces? Because I tried with several computers but it happend with any of them. Maybe it's the server of Lego? Sorry for all the questions but It's so annoying to waste hours on lost orders -

I am busy for the next 2 weeks but PM me and maybe we can figure something out. I'll make pictures when I find time. Most of the sets are Star Wars and there's also a bunch of figures old and new. -

It is. And I have to say as cool as some creatures/animals look - other than big cats and horses - non of the newer animal molds have good articulation. This is very weird, considering that older molds (elephant, monky) had like the maximum articulation. I think the only thing that could get me invested in the newer sets is indeed a Rancor made from the same pieces as the old one (as it does not look like we'll get new helmets for either of the Mandalorians). Dark trooper pack: as cool as the corridor and Luke look - it's just crazy how Lego bumped up the prices there and with similar sets. I get some increase due to inflation, bigger parts and how desirable the figs are. But we have gotten battle packs for 15€ with cloth pieces, shoulder attachments and several exclusive new molds at once as well as a similar piece count. Again: more quantity and quality for less than half the price. Great new Luke figure but I refuse to go so far for this price. This should not be over 20€, maximum 25€ because of larger pieces. Like with 18+ sets higher prices are fine - if they'd put new molds, printed arms, dual molding or printed pieces instead of stickers. Like: ok these details cost money in production which are less important for the big market, so a smaller group of fans is willing to pay a bit more for them. But 40% price increase? As the quantity of pieces is not such a great cost factor, at least they could make those kind of sets bigger. Like a bigger trench for the Hoth sets or a bigger build here (the elevator could have used that). -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

thx (: I read here often about calling the service. Is this really so easy? Like if I make an order at 11pm (in Germany), will I reach someone and they do this? And do you place the order and call after or you do while they are in your cart? -

yeah because of how the head and face are done it ain't so easy to but neck attachments on the dolls. any necklace or other shoulder attachment I have seen on the minidolls so far have not worked very well. I just think minidolls have bad designs. Very unflexible. -

Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
How do you guys and gals deal with large quanity of orders? Whenever I make an order at one point any computer is crashing since the order became too big. When I go to the "cart" and back, pieces are saved but at one point it's also too much for the calculator and it breaking down whenever I go back from "Cart" to bricks and pieces to add more stuff. But if I risk to never go to the cart, it's likely I loose all the content which I put into the order. And my biggest orders are only like 500 parts, never over 100€. I am sure some folks here order for much more I'd be happy for any hints - as most desirable pieces and animals were not available I'll make another order soon anyway to get some of them cute animals and horse saddles (seriously Lego why did you not release any horse saddle for so many years??!). -

well there is almost infinate space in space but not in my apartement So in order to keep some special sets I gotta get rid of many beautiful spaceships, Mods and MOC's by giving them to kids who'd rather play video games anyway -

Transclear could be cool but only with black underneath which they won't do since they give us the face of such characters - or not, looking at the titular character of the Mandalorian I still hold the 1st style of Mando helmets (and actually first Clone helmets) in high regard. Proportions were not perfect but other than adding some variety: the blackness from a black head underneath was always more striking compared the - unfortunately quite bad printing on the Mando helmets. I almost wanted to say the current prints are worse. Like they look worse and lesser quality (Bobas helmets until recently had some silver printing on the side for example and now they skip that not to mention the neglected detail on all the other helmets) but I gotta say, compared to some fantastic Rebel-pilot helmets, the Mando helmets were always printed a bit messy. Maybe they come from different factories. I don't wanna complain too much - 2 years ago we had almost no Mandalorian figures and arm printing was exclusive for super expensive sets and weird figures (Wookie slave, Greedo). But I feel like if they'd just do a proper Mando helmet mold, they'd not lose someone like me to order costumes instead (which I didn't do so far but I'm close ). -

as a beard-piece collector I agree. We have just like 5 beard-piece attachments compared to an infinite amount of hairpieces. But yeah, with minidolls it's probably hard to make a mold that works. the sweet Maybem fig from TLM2 never quite worked with the shoulder attachment due to how head and neck are done (it's still one of the coolest figs ever). -

After 2nd glance at it I thought the station has nothing to offer in terms of interior (just 1 accessable room) but after watching a review from JB spielwaren - I love it. Yes it's not enough room but it seems the middle section is completely accessible for figs (where they put the big rock/asteroid in the pictures). And the figure section is just so great. I love how they built the beds. I have the same thoughts: I would love to modify it, make bigger and have a "Europa Report"- like spacecraft travelling to Jupiter or even Titan . I still really love the last space station (was it from 2019?) - if I would have gotten it I would for sure get this one and combine them together with my own builds. As it stands now unfortunately I have to reduce my Lego collection instead of getting more . If you get it please give us your report on the findings on the Jupiter or Saturn mission . -
LEGO Creator 2022 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to TeriXeri's topic in Special LEGO Themes
promobricks describes it as similar in size to last years pirate ship and 3 figs should be included, 6 rudders on each side as well as 7 shields on each side. No idea if and how the shields will be printed, if the figs will reuse some known pieces. I hope they'll reuse the accurate viking helmets from the CMF! I really look forward to it as well. I try to get rid of most of my collection but to keep and upgrade all my ships. It was really hard to not get the great pirate ship from last year - but it would have just been too big of an effort to change all the weird colours and brick built sails.. Speaking of which: the sails are written again to be "built" - I assume this means brick built as well. There will also be a submarine with an octopus, which sounds interesting. -

As I have just no more space non of the sets sound like I can allow myself to get them. Like I have put a stop on mechs years ago even if a huge Nya mech sounds really cool . Unfortunate that non of the printed ninjago figures or pieces are available on bricks and pieces anymore. It has never been so restrictive - even last year there were some parts available. I loved the character of Harumi and unlike Pixal (cool fig but I don't need the version) and her designs were always pretty cool. And of course it looks like they'll do a really cool Nya figure in the 2nd biggest set . Well here's hopping for magazines to give us rare figures cheap . -

I get it and also the show is written so if they write scenes to only need a 1,5 seater it resolves itself. Just as they needed the Falcon in EP5 to get to Bespin but then Luke can do the same stuff with just one small ship originally only being designed for dogfights. These things are not an issue in SW, it's just what it is. I just feel like you would not want to go from a ship as big as your apartement to a small fighter without toilet . In Rebels they always had the Phantom so even wihout the base ship (the Ghost) you'd have enough space in a Star Trek-like shuttle to move small cargo, some passengers and so on. But who knows - they have captured 2 capitol ships from Gideon in S2 so this could be a good base. Anyway: helmet looks good - just hope now they also update Mandos helmet as well as Bobas. I also think Mandis helmet could profit from dual molding, to really make the black visor shine. I mean we got new molds for some monkey warriors back in Solo or singular First Order troopers never to be seen again. -
oh the blind "bags" I found in several stores in Germany for 1,5€. Unlike music boxes though I didn't take any as there is no way to know what figs are inside..
