  1. I wasn't even tempted (and adore Ahsoka's character + design) since I thought the figure looked horrible. But having it now in hand (from the cheaper Mandalore set as well) - the printing on torso + legs is phenomenal, as well as the face printing! I also really appreciate Maul (first decent face print in an official set since the oldest Maul figures which also had a very good expression) and the builds. Usually nowdays I would immediately scratch those builds for parts after building it for fun but I'll update and then keep these builds for sure. I also got the Slave I: I think it's the best spaceship build in years. Speaking as a person who no longer has any big interest in Star Wars since Rebels ended: it's a fantastic set! I feared it wouldn't look as good in person. While having a high piece count for SW (though maybe just small pieces) it doesn't look like 50€ big - BUT it does look like they put a lot of effort in it to look that accurate. It captures so many of the aggressive edges and curves. And figures are obviously just a hit. A big thing might also be that it's an actual SW set with a good colour combination. I am sick of sets made out of dark and light grey zebra stripes with the occasional out of place dark tan and standard blue or red stripes. This set I think came out really good - I don't mind paying 50€ this way, compared to an oversized Tie-Fighter, that could have been done better with less pieces. In the last years I only purchased old Lukes, Mando battle pack and the Razor Crest. So happy to end this streak with such good sets!
  2. As I mentioned several pages back - with one stud I think its fairly easy to make a decent jetpack but with 2 it becomes harder. Especially in the colours there aren't any of the necessary colours available. The easiest way may be just clips with lightsaber hilts.
  3. In several interviews it has been stated that TLG doesn't just mostly work with concept art but that they HAVE to work with the existing colour paletes they get. Sometimes that can be more accurate due to lightning changing the looks of something onscreen. But yeah doesn't change anything when something looks dark green but we get it in light green. It's also possible this is just an excuse and designers just don't have too much contact with source material so they just choose what they see in some pictures - aka probably concept art. In that case they wouldn't have done their research. Having many artists and designers as friends I can tell you that they actually do complain about clients not giving them enough liberty about such things as colours. Therefore it happens that a company forces them to choose a colour that doesn't work in a setting (like in a bar when it's dark).
  4. I can only recomend so. Unlike with other sets I wanted to have them immediately - but like one week after release they were all like 30%+ off. I almost want to buy a second bounty now
  5. I used Cole's armor for a fan fic version of Faith from "Hunters". But yeah - his and even Kai's prints look like something out of Nexo knights or 90s super heroes. The other's are all fitting ans have some similarities. It's intersting that exactly the "bad" armors" didn't show up in the show .
  6. Don't get me wrong; I'm quite happy we get so many Mando figs - but isshhh that Armorer oO Why do they always print the visor so low nowdays? With a better print and some shoulder piece (as they try to avoid cloth these days) the fig could have looked much better! Also it's interesting they really didn'te recolour the Jetpack. Happy I still have the Jango one in silver Mostly costomization can fix the issues! Any as said - happy to get more Mandos - even an unprinted helmet.
  7. Some really cool prints. I'm happy they give us a NORMAL alligator mold instead of a weird one with a crown. It's a CMF and now it includes at least one normal animal. Otherwise I can just mention how cool that Sam figure is. I am not even watching the shows or movies but that figure is damn good. 2 new molds, 2 times dual molding and fantastic printing all around. And that wing mold is going to be so useful!
  8. In Germany I didn't even find the sets at stores except for the "new" toys R us; smyths toys - and there they are mostly 50% off since some time I think. The sets themselves I think were actually good deals! Just to me they'd only be parts packs anyway..
  9. It's really cool! I didn't think that set could have been saved. Something else: There was an IG post about the future 100$ set - does anyone know if its fake or not? Because I didn't see it anymore when I was checking now. It said the set would be a Legacy version of the temple of Airjitzu. The set actually would make some sense (though I would more go for the fire temple being Lego).
  10. I think it's a bit too easy to think like this. If you ever worked in a company - there probably were different departements. Maybe there's one (with a certain budget) for new, weird and original themes. Ironically many people criticize TLG for not doing original themes. Maybe this is also a way of them trying to prevent licenced themes to become too powerful and popular. Would be bad for Marvel fans but then again it's Lego and of course they'd want to strengthen their own ideas and projects. Can also be that you are right I'm just saying we don't know because none of us work there. We don't have the right to make up conspiracies all the time. Yes we can do it anyway but morally it's something bad to do. I'm also very critical of this theme. And I have no intention to be the "I told you so-person". But yeah, there seems to be a divergence between a departement, maybe filled with very artistic employees which is great - but not enough sense for consumer reality. And I hope these themes are just Lego playing and trying around. I really hope because in the early 2000's such experiments nearly broke the company. In capitalism it's a thin line between "biggest" and "broke" toy company. So I don't make any survesy but I'd say it's ludacrys if you go into any toy store. You find some plastic toys and they go for a fraction of what Lego gives you. You can buy 2 cool cars with functions but with Lego you get one figure in a box. And as there is no licence related there's also little recognisability. With Harry Potter, as long as the new things are good, fans will pass by and say "hmm I have 10 of them but this one is cooler". There's nothing to relate with this theme though. And the price of a figure makes it look like they are made out of gold.
  11. Let's see if this build is still a "legal" technique.. But would be great if it's indeed a new piece that's maybe also wider.
  12. we can at least hope for 1-3 smaller sets at one point. I think it's some time ago that we got a proper prequel location based set right? Was it Yoda vs. Dooku maybe? Other than this only 20-30 dollar duel sets made it. So instead of a bigger set (hopeless) I'd hope for some kind of duel sets and a battle pack (fitting to the Gunship: - battle pack: 2 clones, clone pilot, one Jedi - named Jedi or even freakin Jedi Bob. Though I think it would make most sense to put "him" in a book or something. - two 30€ sets in different waves or a 50-6ß dollar set: at least spider-creature and rhino-like-creature should be easy but cool designs; pillars and maybe Dookus VIP lounge; Obi, Anakin, Padme and they'd have a great excuse to give us desirable characters like Dooku and Jango again. Maybe even Geonosians but we'll never get more than that I think I think. Jabba's palace: My arguments logic is more that haters who don't know or care about the source material may not recognize a MBS as mosque or offensive or whatever IF it looks different - due to being closer to the real look with the towers and everything. But it's vague speculation; it depends on what damage TLG fears and what money they think they'd get out of it. Then again, like this bashing and conspiracy loving youtubers there'll be trolls on the other side of the street waiting to trash Lego because it's depicting old and classic movies. Slave Leia: we've had not that many sets with alternative versions of characters included (UCS Falcon, Vader's tower and Death Star being among the few). So if ONE Leia is in it I guess it would be unfair to jump at Lego on that choice immediately. Yes her sexualised appearance is an important aspect of the scene but the figure wasn't even in the last palace set. Boba wasn't either. Luke vs. Rancor, pig soldiers, creepy translator, fat slug and carbonite Han are way more essential to the scene. And who know's how future canon will influence the setting.
  13. This deserves more attention! There's some really great videos and channels about Lego traps. I really think Lego should less focus on technology (there they lost anyway) but instead in smoother sets, incooperation of table games (with cards and stuff; all pretty cheap) AND functions like the ones mentioned. When I grew up I managed to purchase some of the Jonny Thunder sets and the play value was just amazing there. However cool the purely brick built bridges are: the one molded piece in the mountain-temple set was sooo cool. You could just put a figure and releasing one pin made the bridge turn and depending on if the figure was clipped it would fall or hold on. I feel like the molded base plates also gave a lot of opportunities for functions. I dont try to criticize todays Lego designs; they have their reasons. I just think some stuff was really gread for kids and I miss it today. - In the Johnny Thunder line there was also this great india-temple set with a sliding/trap door function differentiating it from our typical trap doors. - Ninjago's 4th season also had a great 10 dollar set with an interesting collapsing bridge function. See - doesn't need many parts! - Not a fan of the "exploding functions" usually BUT the Hobbit P3 had a tan building set that had some great collapsing functions though. I was using this in work with my clients and the kids loved putting figures on and then when we flew a dragon over it they hit the lever and BAM all the figures went flying everywhere
  14. If you capture the actual palace; from outside it doesn't really look like a mosque. Slave Leia - I have my doubts but also I think it's a really stupid figure and concept. Not that I support this way of ignoring the sexistic past but the set can do with her Bounty hunter disguise instead. But yeah I think Jabbas palace would make a way more interesting and successful set than Endor. And I think those two are the only ones left for MBS sets to do. I really doubt our wishes will be fulfilled with a Geonosis arena set or Exagol or whatsoever... As a D2C I also would wonder if it reach even the same controversy as the normal retail sets? Like the Slave I it will also appear again in future canon so potential is present. On another note; brickset posted an article about potential bigger prequels sets: https://brickset.com/article/60587/what-could-follow-75309-republic-gunship ...again also here I think we are at the right place in a wishlist thread. Venator is closer to ISD's, ARC-170, Jedi Starfighter, Pod Racer and Naboo Starfighter have popular designs. But I'd be amazed if we'd get even 2 of those sets and I see the chance of the other sets at zero.
  15. the spear blades with a short pin introduced in the "hunted" season would be the best I guess. But they usualy come in a parts pack, the same as the short-stick katana pieces. Other than that you only have the standard katana, tai-chi sword, jade blade or the machete from City.
  16. The good thing with monkeys is that you can always have many different ones. Old horses next to new ones look weird to me. But like the old elephant: some printing and molding doesn't make a bad figure good. Lego really tosses a ball with some animal molds. They should always have the most or more posability compared to old figs. Old monkeys were so cool. You could do so many things with them! The new one can stand on a stud, be cliped onto something and that's it. Like with big-figs I really hope Lego goes in direction of a minifig-style or even compatible system.
  17. oh come on why would they sacrifice a small alligator mold because some people want it to have a screen accurate crown? It would render the mold useless for the future. Of course the perfect way would be to put a small hole or stud with a special mold to connect. But if they cann't make 2 new molds there better be a normal small size alligator instead of a useless clown alligator.
  18. Not a marvel fan here but just because of the good printing I might want to get almost all figures so far.. Does anyone know how it is possible to get the whole series? Because full boxes usually contain like 3-5 of each figure and that would be a bit too much.
  19. There's different ways to view this. All of them are ok. I feel like a brickvault-style MOC in minifigscale would have made more sense (prequel set, troop transport). But the build we get is surely much more advanced and interesting. What you say all makes perfect sense as well. I'm afraid though the debate has deteriorated into bashing and clickbaiting mixed with conspiracies. And I am ashamed that in Germany there are some of the worst influencers in this regard and they are quite popular. I have friends who don't care about Lego but they watch these videos (and talk about boycotting the company). Like this Mandy-Products influencer, they can be decent entertainers with a cool passion. But this willingness to resort to this behaviour is hideous. And they make money with it. All opinions are ok; I share my overly critical one as well. But some people on social media are not "the fandom". Even if it's 20 people here - they don't finance the sets. And Lego making descisions I dislike doesn't mean they hate the fandom, hate the prequels or something. It's a toy company, trying to make money. You can buy cheaper Lego alternatives if you want. Designers are just employees doing their jobs. Who knows how many rules and regulations such a large company can have. Many things don't make sense to me from the outside, but I don't work there. I assume most here don't either? Then why are we so quick to know if something will fail, why they did it etc.?
  20. sooo good! So many details, the changes in colour, the techniques - especially in respect of protecting from too big gaps etc. I get the desire to sit down with you and play siege of this castle I hope you, your life and family but also your art (yes Lego mocs are art as much as Mona Lisa is) are safe from the floodings!
  21. no dual molding but would she be ninjago there'd be leg printing and some shoulder piece for sure. I also dislike the printing to cut off like that. - But I think it will be fairly easy to replace the legs with something that looks better - If you'd safe some printing budget in this series you'd probably save it on this figure. Her outfit is as you said not that recognisable, some mix of black and dark grey or green. Overall there will be a lot of extra printing and molding in this series. What I understand less though are the face prints of her and Wanda. If you do new face prints anyway - then why do 2 smiling faces for characters almost never smiling?
  22. Really nice! So sad we never got anything like this. So much potential lost with the LotR licence!
  23. Thank you for the feedback so far! But I feel like most sets are pretty much wishlists - as cool as they sound Realistically I feel like we will be covered by the mentioned OT sets and - hopefully have a few Disney SW and PT sets fill the gaps. I'll make a list how things could go (with maybe one or two gram of realism): 2021: AT-AT 2022: Lukes Landspeeder, Razor Crest 2023: Death Star II (without interior and figures), Tie Advanced 2024: large Endor bunker playset, Slave I (like with the Falcon they could do a set from several areas and update look + interior slightly. 2025: Imperial shuttle, Jedi Starfighter I really doubt some sets will ever see the light of day as they didn't even do them when there were no sequels, new media - and all SW from before Disney is getting old already in a way. So you gotta look at what ages well and what doesn't. While not being a fan of the prequels I think the arena would be a hell of a set but if there's no apparent prequel hype I think we only have the chance of a small set at some point. There's just so many OT sets I didn't even mention in the list now that would already fill us up for years. My hope is just that some more diverse sets can squeeze in between sometime. If I could bet I'd only bet on the Razor Crest and the U-Wing. ARC-170 and Kylos ship I'd give some slight chances.
  24. Before I abuse the news thread; a question to anyone: Where can UCS and 200€ go from now on? Nowdays we get a lot of them each year - I believe we got most OT sets covered. Missing: AT-AT (coming soon?), Death Star II (remake), AT-ST (remake) super ISD (remake), Lamba Class (also remake!) Lukes Landspeeder, Tie Advanced (remake) - I don't see much more possibilities beside remakes. Maybe some kind of Endor bunker in the style of Mos Eisley Cantina? As much as I also respect the prequel designs I think the current Gunshop set might be a good test for Lego if they can tap more into the prequel waters. Because there's maaany designs left to do while the OT is covered for a while. Disney SW doesn't give us that many possible sets I think: Kylos ship: very worthy but the question is if they wanna invest in a 200/400€ sequel set U-Wing: very worthy as well and might appear in other media Razor Crest: even though this was destroyed in no time I would give this one a high chance In a year I could really see them doing an updated Slave I. Would piss off so many costumers of the last 3 versions. fun side note: I remember back with EP7 people were speculating about the possibility of a Death Star like Starkiller base set. Good luck with that Cartoons: The Ghost: would be so amazing but it could not be done smaller than the Falcon. And it's pretty improbably anyway if it doesn't get big in the new shows. the same goes for any CW or BB vehicle I think.
  25. Until this one there wasn't a prequel UCS style set since 10 years. And we get nowdays like 2-3 per year. I wonder where they can go from now on? As much as I also respect the prequel designs (much more than the movies themselves) I think this set might be a good test for Lego if they can tap more into the prequel waters. Because there's maaany designs left to do while for the OT they covered most. From Disney SW there isn't so much to do so far (Kylos ship, Razor Crest). Naja, I will elaborate more in the wishing thread.
