  1. I would still love to get a Kabuki Nya, but I don't see that happening; way too obscure, long ago and to no interest of the target audience. But, with the recent development, there is really no reason to not get a Nya exclusive at some point. I don't expect her to come with a book, but maybe in a polybag (like the one with Dareth). Btw, it still beats me why they didn't release the Elemental masters in a such a way, it doesn't really seem like they are saving them for later either. I just realized that there is also the possibility to have exclusive minifigs with the dvd volumes, like other licenced themes. Seems like the perfect opportunity to release characters/variants that are very obscure or episode-specific. I remember seeing a box in France (final battle season) with Golden Lloyd minifig, but otherwise none and I think there is a lot to gain here.
  2. Exactly my thoughts! I hope that they dive into the profound mysteries existing in the Ninjago realm and I'd like it to be at least as epic as the final battle, plot wise. On another note, I wonder if the music will be done by the same composer as the one from the show. I really like his music!
  3. Ninja doing kong-fu moves with giant elemental mech suits (Bionicles ) versus gigantic monsters? Sure, bring it! Honestly, Bionicle (with Takanuva, Mata Nui and Makuta) x Ninjago would be a fantastic crossover, imo.
  4. Yes, that seems more than likely now. Yay for Stone armour Cole!
  5. It was on the minifig turntable at NYTF.
  6. Btw, don't the 200+ € Technic sets that are coming out this summer count as D2Cs? I think especially the Porsche shown at NYTF looked absolutely splendid!
  7. I'd like to see that too. Btw, Rayskull might be talking about the helmet seen on one of the first sea monster guys that leaked, the one with the fish bowl under his arm.
  8. I'm sorry, to say this, but: don't be a fool. (I'm talking about the italicized parts here) Lego is as much targeted towards seven year olds as Minecraft. In fact, Lego has been a kid's toy from the start, while MC started as a simple game, having the target demographic "people who enjoy playing games" and was only later discovered by kids. I am, like many others, an adult who enjoys MC, just as you are an adult enjoying Lego. Stating it's for seven year olds is a little... childlike, wouldn't you say? I don't see how the theme is comparable to Ben 10 or Galidor, since Lego MC uses the basic, highly compatible core bricks that have brought Lego to where it is today. I do agree that the sets have a bad value-for-money from an AFOL, MOCer perspective, but that doesn't make it as bad as Galidor, not even by a long shot! (my apologies, Galidor fans!) And about the rip-off thing: squareness and endless creativity (building, rearranging and destructing) are the only conceptual similarities between the two. Sorry for the off-topic rant, but I just can't ignore such bold statements! I think the Brick Bank is an excellent modular, once again. Looks great, great pieces and a great price. Ghost Busters HQ is... very impressive. It's remarkable that TLG decided to produce the building in it's entirety, bringing an extraordinary parts count and price. Not really my piece of cake, but still, it has the quality that is to be expected of a D2C. Assault on Hoth: Not the playset we need, but the playset we deserved? Great way to catch up if you missed out on.. eh... every single Hoth set ever released. Okay seriously: this is not how you do a D2C set... at all. I bet TLG knows that by now. Batcave: overpriced! The Wayne Manor facade looks better than the back front side (with the terribly unfinished underground) but if displayed like that, it doesn't line up well with the rest of the set. The Village: overpriced (but that's in line with the MC theme)! However, I think the set looks good and is accurate as a whole. So overall, the quality of D2Cs this year is below average (only the Assault on Hoth was really a tremendous failure), but the Death Star could still make it also a good year for SW fans.
  9. I think that they will keep the beast motifs for the villain faction for the upcoming waves. The monster in the queen rescue set kinda resembles a Taurus, btw. They will probably stick with the heraldry as symbols only, like with the Mars Mission vehicles, but a dragon at some point is to be expected. spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!!! The tower carrier is pretty cool, but a 100€ space dropship... remember this?
  10. Very helpful, thank you! purple on printing on there, skip to 3.45 min. I think the upper cape piece should have been applied the other way around to be able to see that from the front.
  11. Congratulations on this build! It has many great details, to much to name all of them, but I'll try What immediately draws my attention is the blue house, it's truely lovely! The portico (not sure if that's the right name) under the balcony of the orange house fits the setting very well. The quay is awesome too, with all the activity going on, the wooden crane, the toll cabinet and the yellow-green striped stand (nice technique there). A subtle but splendid detail is the use of sand green masonry bricks just above the waterline, due to the long exposure to sea water. Eh, what else? Ah, right, those boats! Very nice work man, keep it up!
  12. Yeah, like the others already said: that road is simply brilliant!!! I really like how you achieved the very natural look by varying height and angles of the hammers just slightly. It's also nice to have some personal story development for Arcturin (which is an awesome name, btw).
  13. So, still: does anyone know when that polybag will release? And I noticed that there is a good picture of the build included with the latest Ninjago Magazine issue, and personally, I think it's the best yet: http://brickset.com/...IN891611-1/Cole
  14. Whoah wait, we can still enter!?
  15. Is using B&P ethically correct again (e.g. can you order pieces instead of "replacement bricks")?
  16. To be honest, while I certainly do care about the design of the set, I mostly buy them for the minifigs and useful parts. You see, my budget is not big enough to buy sets for display and sets to make MOCs with. I am mostly interested in the sets with dragons and buildings so I buy those, I build them, leave them on display for some time, but in the end, they all get taken apart because I want to use the pieces. The only exception up to this point: 70734 Master Wu Dragon, because I've sworn to myself to keep that set intact, because it's - hands down - the best set I have ever bought! So in fact, it kinda hurts that Ninjago keeps coming with bloody good sets, but man, I really hope they continue this trend! And I'm getting tired that there is so little to discuss... Do we already know when and how the polybag below will be available? The torso and legs seem to be exclusive. (sorry penkid, another minifig ) http://brickset.com/sets/5004391-1/Sky-Pirates-Battle
  17. these are my thoughts, posted them in the other thread already
  18. I think the set has a nice atmosphere. It features the maximum amount of key elements found in a village, except for the church, which is understandable given TLG's policy. In other words, this is a pretty accurate, proper, complete village! Now that is something we hardly see.. eh... ever? Also, I like the villager. Maybe the torso could even be used to make regular minifig monks. So, the bad things, then. As with most of the Minecraft sets, this one has quite a bad price-per-piece ratio. I think that for a D2C set, they should have gone for the 10 cents per piece mark, so that it would be a 2000-piece set. We could have gotten an extra house, along with an extra villager. I am also a little annoyed that they still haven't changed the default skin (but keeping the Steve/Alex head), because don't tell me the designers aren't creative enough to make some nice biome/scene/activity-related custom skins! This applies more to the range in general, though. So, that leaves chickens and enchanting tables (among other things) to be desired. I don't know if another wave is confirmed yet, but I will go ahead and make a few guesses (/wishful thinking projections) about possible upcoming sets, for fun : - Ocean Monument Raid: large structure with lots of sand green/sand blue elements, two Guardians and Steve in diamond armour. €99,99 - Wizard Tower Attack: dark brown and dark ora (?) tower, pointy dark red roof. Includes Alex, a Spider Jockey, enchanting table, potions, and decorated banners. €69,99 - The Swamp Hut: resembles the structure found in the game, includes Witch, Slime, Chicken and Steve with leather helmet. €34,99 - Mushroom Island: giant mushroom, some mycelium terrain, includes Mooshroom cow and Steve with map and compass. €19,99
  19. Here's a set with curtains, though they are very simple: http://brickset.com/sets/40120-1/Valentine-s-Day-Dinner I like yours quite a bit
  20. Wow, a brilliantly executed idea! Every single one of the levels makes for a interesting little scene (also the brick o' mass destruction one!), but stacked-up it's all the more impressive! "Photography" is definitely my favorite (so little support and very elegant!), the desk on the floor above is fantastic as well!
  21. That's a very strong collection of builds there, wow! I like the market and the barracks the best
  22. Awesome dojo, the dragon shrine inside is a great detail, as well as the bamboo. I like how it's build on poles above the water and how it has a nicely tiled walkway going all around. I'd say a few points to work on are the 'studdedness' of the water, the pier and the black part of the roof; just a few tiles would make it look better, I think. Keep up the good work!
  23. Oh, thanks for the reminder! I should start brainstorming!
  24. The story has a nice vibe to it, and the builds are decent so far. The base entrance is my favorite of the three. However, like gamejutzu said, your vignettes could use just a tad more detail or special parts usage. Anyway, keep it up!
