What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
Nokturn replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm a huge fan of pretty much every Shuttle in the SW Universe, so naturally my favorite sets consist of the Imperial Shuttle Tydirium, as well as Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle. (Although, I modded that set quite extensively, so maybe that's not the best choice.) Also, the upcoming Delta-Class T-3c set for Rogue One looks incredible from what we've seen, so I'd imagine that one will be high on my list too. As for least favorites? I have to go with the most recent AAT and Sith Infiltrator. The older versions were miles better, specifically the 2001 AAT and the 2011 Sith Infiltrator. I fail to understand how TLG messed those two sets up so badly, especially considering the perfection that the older versions had almost attained. Luckily, that kind of thing doesn't happen to often. A good chunk of modern sets are clear improvements over the originals. -
Yes, it's based on set 9495 from 2012. Also, questions like that would be better to ask in this thread, just for future reference.

Took me a minute to figure out what that even was. Good find, though. Are there any other images?

In an unsurprising turn of events, one of the new characters for Season 3 of Rebels is: Hopefully that means we'll see that character as a minifigure at some point. I can put aside my negative opinion on Rebels if it means we get a set with that character.

As far as I'm aware, the only panels that will have an official LEGO presence are the ones regarding The Freemaker Adventures, as well as the TFA game. There's no indication that either of those will be livestreamed, unfortunately. I doubt we'll be seeing any reveals now. Celebration this year has been pretty disappointing as a whole.
-
That spoiler is huge. I recommend that everyone avoid it if possible. It's going to be all over the internet, unfortunately.
-
That's just the BTS sizzle reel. It was also uploaded on the official Star Wars YouTube channel. We're talking about the trailer that was promised by ABC, yet only shown exclusively at Celebration. Now I feel bad for pushing the livestream hype so hard. It clearly wasn't what it was supposed to be.
-
The whole trailer fiasco is incredibly disappointing. I don't know about anyone else, but I stayed up all night to watch the livestream. Very upset with the way the marketing for this film is being handled. This exact same thing happened with Suicide Squad and BvS. No fan should be forced to watch a low-quality recording of a trailer in the name of exclusivity. Regardless, the LEGO panels should hopefully be much less disappointing. Even if we don't see any new sets.

For convenience's sake, here's the link to the Celebration Livestream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VZ5dfOU1XI The Rogue One panel won't be starting until roughly 5 hours from the time of this post, but the other panels look interesting enough. Unfortunately, there's no LEGO-related panels streaming today, but perhaps there will be some on Days 2 & 3.

I very much doubt that. The Death Star's projected release date is sooner than the Rogue One sets. Besides, Disney, for whatever reason, seems to wish to keep all the merchandise entirely secret until Force Friday, which I still find ridiculous as I'm sure everyone knows. If last year is anything to go by, the Rogue One sets will not be officially revealed until Force Friday, which is September 30th of this year. Of course, I do hope I'm wrong. It'd be a treat to see some much higher resolution images of the Rogue One sets.

Just as a reminder to all, Star Wars Celebration is fast approaching. It will be livestreaming on StarWars.com for those not able to attend. The livestream starts tomorrow at 11:00 A.M. BST/6:00 A.M. EDT: http://www.starwars....stream-schedule The most important panels, in my opinion, will be the ones regarding Rogue One as well as all of the LEGO-related panels. Of course, the thing we're all hoping for is the reveal of the UCS Death Star. If there was ever a time to reveal it, it'd be during Celebration. Fingers crossed!

This is looking really good so far! The shaping of the windscreen section is especially cool. However, I think it'd look a bit better in White as opposed to Light Bluish Gray. That's assuming you're able to get ahold of the 4 x 4 rollcage piece in white; it's fairly uncommon. Either way, keep up the great work! I'm excited to see the finished product.
-
Thanks for the info, I hadn't seen that. Definitely sounds promising! I'd like to remind everyone that Star Wars Celebration will be livestreamed, much like last year: http://www.starwars.com/news/announcing-the-star-wars-show-live-at-celebration-europe I'll be watching the livestream in hopes that they'll show the LEGO panel!
-
I'm really hoping for that outcome, too. I think SWC is an even better event to reveal it at than say, SDCC or Toy Fair. Major UCS sets definitely feel catered more towards the hardcore fanbase, like the one that's going to be present en masse at SWC. That said, LEGO didn't have that much of a presence at SWC last year. No major product reveals or anything like that. Their only panel was about Droid Tales. Based on that, I'd say they're more likely to promote The Freemaker Adventures and the LSW TFA game rather than do any product reveals. We'll just have to wait and see, though.

Not quite. The rumored Anakin's Podracer ended up becoming 75135 Obi-Wan's Jedi Interceptor for whatever reason. This was confirmed by the fact that Target stores still had the name "SW ANAKIN PODRACER" on the pricetags meant for 75135. That's not to say that we won't eventually get the Anakin's Podracer set in a future wave, though. It just didn't come to fruition back in the January/March wave.

As far as I remember, yes, they did. You may have to wait a little longer for them to arrive due to high demand, but you should at least be able to order them on the release date.
-
Genuine official pictures weren't revealed until literally the day of release - part of the very strict embargo that Disney placed on The Force Awakens merchandise. Of course, we ended up getting leaked hi-res images a little bit before that. I'm hoping it will be a little more relaxed regarding Rogue One, but I don't know how likely it is.
-
Does anyone else think it's a possibility that we'll see more sets from The Freemaker Adventures? In a recent episode, Dengar actually used his ship, the Punishing One. I'd love to see that as a set, for example.
-
It's a pretty safe bet that there will still be scenes with Imperials that take place on the Death Star, even if the Rebels don't infiltrate it directly. That said, I'm not sure if it's very likely that the upcoming set will have anything to do with Rogue One, current as it may be.
-
Sorry, I misunderstood.
-
We already knew the set numbers for every set, though, due to the massive image leak. The only thing left to figure out for sure is the official set names, as far as I know. By the way, the Raven Deluxe is actually the codename for the TIE Striker.
-
It's entirely possible that the city location seen in the Rogue One trailer is in fact Onderon. A small to medium set based on that might be pretty cool. I just wonder what the chances are of more large Rogue One sets. The merchandising appears to be scaled back a bit, and I wouldn't be surprised if the January 2017 wave only saw Battle Packs or other smaller sets in regards to Rogue One. Even the TFA sets had limited treatment this year.
-
Good point. There's also a slight chance that we'll see something from Star Wars Celebration, even if it's just a 'reveal' of the Constraction figures like last year. Hopefully everything will be a bit more relaxed this time around. The intense secrecy in terms of merchandise for Episode VII was understandable, yet incredibly frustrating.
-
Yes, and it's actually been official for some time now. September 30th, as announced at Toy Fair 2016 and confirmed by an article on StarWars.com.
-
Whatever the case, I hope the prices stay the way they are. They're great. I have a feeling that Rogue One merchandise in general will be a little cheaper than Force Awakens stuff, but that's pure speculation at this point.
