Yeah, unfortunately there is. The embargo lasts until the actual release date, which is September 30th. It's very likely that this is Lucasfilm/Disney's wish, rather than TLG's. They want to keep every single picture of all Rogue One merchandise a secret until Rogue Friday, which is the equivalent to last year's Force Friday. I also find it ridiculous, considering all-first wave merchandise is generally very spoiler-free, but it's not really something we can control. I'm just glad the images exist in the first place.

No problem. Apparently the images came from an accidental early listing from Target.com, which I can confirm. Cat's definitely out of the bag now if it wasn't already. However, none of the other sets were listed, which I find a little strange. Probably an isolated incident for now, but I expect it to start happening on other websites soon enough. If these extra images for the TIE Striker exist, surely there's more out there just waiting to be (accidentally) unleashed.

More high-resolution images of the TIE Striker have surfaced on the LEGO subreddit if anyone wants to see them. It seems as though the wings can move synchronously, so a good chunk of the space in the back is dedicated to the mechanism for that. The remaining room is used for weapon & accessory storage. Also, the box art reveals that the final piece count is 543. The US price was also re-confirmed, at $69.99 USD. Not particularly easy to swallow all things considered, but it's almost expected after the First Order Special Forces TIE. I'm wondering if the price has anything to do with the unique printed hatch pieces, or if TLG just has a grudge against TIE Fighters.

Regarding modifying the U-Wing, I've reconstructed the forward mandibles in LDD and It should be insanely easy to extend them to the proper length. Assuming that my reconstruction is accurate to the official set, just a couple of extra White plates/tiles and some Dark Bluish Gray plates will be enough. This won't be nearly as parts-intensive as making Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle film-accurate, that's for sure. Something else I noticed is that the engine output is blue on the box art and in the newest trailer, whereas on the official set it's orange. Another easy fix, would just need four Trans-Dark Blue 1x1 Cones. I'm a little disappointed that the inaccuracies exist at all, but at least they're seemingly easy fixes this time around. I haven't noticed any glaring inaccuracies on any other set, fortunately enough.

I can agree with that. It doesn't seem to me like we'll ever receive those vehicles, kind of like the First Order Star Destroyer for VII. I'm probably just going to end up modifying one of the existing AT-AT sets to turn it into an AT-ACT. Should be pretty easy. As far as what we could be seeing at those price points, I'm thinking at least one location-based set akin to Battle On Takodana. Rogue One has a lot of amazing new locations and it'd be a shame to see none of them represented. The Imperial Installation on Scarif could be another option, similar to The Battle Of Endor from 2009, but I suppose that would depend on how significant that location ends up being in the film.

Really good catch there, man. I've been dissecting the trailer myself and I managed to totally miss that part. It's cool finally seeing Krennic's Shuttle on-screen. Hopefully we'll get more of it in the next trailer, whenever that may be.

I know this isn't the right place for this, but the new trailer for ROGUE ONE was absolutely incredible. Plenty of potential for some amazing sets - specifically location-based ones like something set on Jedha. I REALLY hope TLG capitalizes on all of the brand new designs and locations for this film going forward; they seem to be doing a pretty good job so far.

Not quite. It was supposed to be the bed in Han's holding cell. (The location where he punches Lando) I feel like I'm the only one who appreciates the inclusion of that feature.

One can only imagine the severity of the backlash if it's akin to how they updated 10199 Winter Village Toy Shop.

I highly doubt these leaks are any sort of marketing stunt - representatives from TLG, LFL and/or Disney would not be issuing DMCAs and C&D letters if they actually wanted these images out there. They politely ask Ambassadors of fan sites to take the images down, but forceful legal action is taken elsewhere on sites that aren't affiliated.

It's likely going to happen every single time unless TLG completely stops sending pictures to retailers. We rarely, if ever, see D2C sets before they're officially revealed, and that's simply because they don't appear in retailer catalogs or on any online shop besides LEGO.com. The leaks usually come from retailers making mistakes, as far as I can tell. I do hope that TLG finds an alternative; I think we'd all "prefer a straight fight to all this sneakin' around."

That part really stood out to me, too. I don't think we've ever seen texture/paneling work of that caliber... it looks gorgeous and echoes what we've seen in the studio model: I think it has less to do with TLG and more to do with LFL/Disney in this case. Force Friday is apparently the only day they want to reveal the merchandise, which I still find a little bit ridiculous. Even the general target audience would like to see the merchandise before they go to a midnight launch and spend a large amount of money on it. Force Friday is an event to save for, not one to go to without any idea of what you'll be seeing. That said, I can't complain. Anyone who bothers to look for leaked images will see them, and the rules EB has are understandable & fair. I have to remind myself sometimes that we're fortunate to even have the hi-res leaked images in the first place, even if I disagree with the vehement and seemingly pointless restrictions. However, we wouldn't have to deal with this if they'd bother with an official reveal. It barely even makes sense for a business to keep their customers in the dark about a product. What happened to actually revealing things at Toy Fair and the like?

It looks more like a UT-AT with wings to me. Either that, or the experimental Sea Shadow (IX-529) developed by Lockheed. Regardless of what it's based on, it's a really striking design. Easily my favorite set of this wave, as well as my favorite design from the film. It's menacing, striking, and imposing. I'm not sure if I like it more than the Upsilon-Class that Kylo had, but it's still really cool. ....Wouldn't that be every single wave since 2004, though?
-
I like that a lot, too. It hearkens back to the days of the use of Blue in the classic SW sets. Luckily it's a lot more subtle and well-rounded this time. Take a closer look, the hatch is sort of false. It's attached to a trap door element, which is plenty big enough to fit a figure. The same technique was used in some other sets, most notably the First Order Transporter.

It seems to me that TLG wanted to focus on the things/designs/characters that were 100% new, but that's just speculation. The distinct lack of OT Stormtroopers is a little frustrating, considering their limited availability in non-RO sets. That said, we are [allegedly] set to receive a Battlepack with 2 Stormtroopers and 2 Deathtroopers in 2017, but I realize there's a separate topic for that.
-
All of them looked pretty awesome from the earlier leaked image that we had, but the hi-res images really helps drive home my love for these sets. I'm incredibly happy & relieved that my predictions about the U-Wing and TIE Striker were correct; TLG did not mess up the transforming/movable wing features for either set. This is shaping up to be one of the best waves in recent memory, possibly even more than the Force Awakens wave.
-
Those look fantastic. Reminds me of the time I recreated the Force Awakens sets in LDD long before release. Patience is not my strong suit.
-
I really hope not. I have faith that they learned from their mistakes. But if they didn't, someone will figure out how to easily modify it.

One of the leaked set descriptions awhile back mentioned rotating wings on the U-Wing, so it's very likely that there will be some sort of Technic mechanism. At the very least, we'll be able to rotate the wings manually.
-
Yes, that's her, but she does actually have torso printing under her poncho, much like the Leia figure from Imperial Shuttle Tydirium. She also includes a hairpiece in addition to the hat. Her torso printing is detailed enough, for me at least. She does look a little bland with the hat and poncho on, I'll give you that.

The image seems like it could be from someone's personal SW minifig colllection, as opposed to a bunch of leaked figures. I wouldn't bet on it being new. Besides, there's seemingly no upcoming sets that would even be able to include Ki-Adi, even the known 2017 ones. That said, there is definitely quite a few CW figures that are in need of some serious updating in the form of movie versions. It'd be nice.
-
Why? The image has been floating around for awhile and it doesn't have a confidential stamp. I don't see what the difference is between this and the images of stolen minifigures that others are posting. There's a good chance that not everyone has seen the leaks that happened months ago, so I wanted to put them back out there.
-
Awesome job! I'm not sure if you know already, but the Punishing One did actually make a brief appearance in The Freemaker Adventures. I'm sort of doubting we'll get an official set of it, though. Even if we do, your MOC will likely still be better!

That would be incredibly disappointing and very confusing if true. There have already been multiple confirmed reports that Force Friday is indeed happening on September 30th, so I don't know why he'd say that.

What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
Nokturn replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The price is a large part of it, yes. But the thing I dislike the most is the way the entire nose section is designed - curved slopes stacked on top of each other haphazardly does not make for an accurate or visually appealing Infiltrator. The angled plate method used in the previous set was far more accurate and appealing to me, personally. Also, I definitely prefer the interior of the ship, the build of the Bloodfin, as well as all of the minifigs from the previous version.
