Little late to the party, I guess... The set leaks are definitely an extremely nice surprise. There's no doubt that I'll be purchasing all of them. They all look absolutely fantastic, and accurate to the source material. LEGO absolutely nailed it this time. I can't see any immediate flaws, personally. Granted, the film's not out yet, but looking at them as just sets, they seem pretty successful.

Not really that weird. I strongly dislike both Rebels and The Clone Wars, but have still ended up purchasing sets based on both. New canon material generally means some decent vehicle and location designs, even if the story/idea of the material itself is terrible. There are plenty of people who disliked the prequels, but still found some vehicle designs like the Naboo Starfighter appealing, for example. Although, as a side note I will say that I've never heard of anyone who strongly disliked The Force Awakens. I thought it was generally extremely well-recieved by fans and critics alike. Personally, it's the absolute pinnacle of the entirety of Star Wars, for me. It's just incredible.

Take a look at it compared to the Falcon: http://i.imgur.com/DEqspr9.jpg Those two screencaps are taken directly from a shot in TFA, in which the camera pans over from a Resistance X-Wing to the Millennium Falcon. If the LEGO Falcon is light gray, the X-Wing needs to be white, much like most of the other LEGO X-Wings. Reason being, white is the closest match to the color scheme, other than Light Stone Gray, which is not used in many pieces. Also, as a personal preference thing, I think that the LEGO Blue and the LEGO Light Gray look absolutely terrible together. As for the TIE Fighter, I feel the wings should've been white. In universe, the wings are made up of this bizarre, slightly opaque, and almost iridescent material. For the most part, that comes across to me as white, and I think the contrast between black, white, and red is far more visually appealing and accurate. Either way, it's not like it particularly matters on the sets that have been released thus far. But as I said, I really hope that the Rogue One sets don't suffer the same fate. That Rebel Transport better be blue and white.

I'll give you that one. However, I personally feel that a dark blue or even sand blue would've been much more appropriate. That's kind of a nice middle ground, and it would trick the eye into seeing the set as weathered. This effect was used to a great degree on the Millennium Falcon (75105), and it worked very well, IMO.

Agreed. The color seems to be a problem with some recent SW sets. For example: Kylo Ren's Shuttle The wings of the Special Forces TIE Fighter The coloration of the Resistance X-Wing (It REALLY should be white instead of light gray) etc. I don't know why TLG's designers have gotten the color wrong on so many occasions. I kinda doubt it's because of the concept art. Obviously, everyone has different perceptions of color and how good/bad it looks, but some of the color schemes are objectively incorrect. Hopefully this won't be a big problem with the Rogue One sets, because I'm kind of sick of having to modify sets with my own pieces or Bricklink orders.
-
If I remember correctly, the leaked image of Kylo's Shuttle surfaced in late April/early May of last year. Hopefully we'll start getting leaked Rogue One set images very soon.
-
If it's anything like last year, we won't see official images until Force Friday, which is September 30th of this year. However, leaked images may start popping up soon. One can only hope.

Agreed. The ship/landing craft at 1:16 in particular looks really awesome!

Incredible.

...Didn't think I'd be this excited for the Rogue One sets, honestly. Just the minifigs alone are going to be amazing! Hopefully the trailer tomorrow shows off some great stuff.

Looks like the backpacks that the First Order Snowtroopers wear. So it's relatively inaccurate, as well, because the Heavy Troopers don't wear backpacks.
-
I don't even understand how that's considered 'exclusive'... pretty sure we all have 40 billion of those from Battlepacks.
-
...I still think the Resistance X-Wing needs to be white. It looks terrible and rather inaccurate in light gray. Guess I'll have to mod it or something. It seems as though TLG has a problem determining the correct colors to use. The Luggabeast is another example, as others have said. Other than that, I'm surprisingly excited for the Eclipse Fighter. Seems to be a cheap way of getting Dengar, which is a fig I've always wanted. Can't say I'm too excited about The Freemaker Adventures as a whole, though.
-
The set designs themselves range from alright to pretty good, but the thing that absolutely ruins it for me is the choice of color. As others have said, the Luggabeast should definitely be using a darker shade of blue for it to look correct. Also, I can't be the only one who thinks the LBG X-Wing looks terrible. It needs to be white. Seriously. There's even a shot in TFA where the camera pans from a Resistance X-Wing over to the Millennium Falcon, and you can clearly see that the X-Wing is white, whereas the Falcon is light gray. That should be reflected in the sets, as well.

The Resistance Transporter is now $70, as well. Glad I decided to pick up Takodana when it was still $50, but I was hoping the Transporter would stay cheaper. I don't quite understand what the deal is with the prices, but I suppose it's already been discussed to death.

Hall Of Mirrors was the codename for the castle during filming, and also the codename for the set. It shows up that way in Target's internal inventory when you search the DPCI, as well.
-
Just ordered Battle On Takodana from Amazon, but it won't arrive until January 6th for some reason. I'm still having trouble understanding/accepting the apparent price hike; the set really should've stayed $50. Even the Target inventory still has it listed as $49.99, but everywhere else it's $59.99. That aside, Brickset is reporting a multitude of issues when ordering the new sets from LEGO.com. It's kind of mind-boggling to see LEGO.com have extreme issues as soon as January 1st rolls around. Happens every year, you'd think they would notice the issue and do their best to mitigate/fix it.

Hey wait a minute... that's mine! I built that in LDD and posted it on Reddit awhile back, long before even the Force Friday sets were released. It was more or less just a mock-up of what the official set could look like. Looking back, there's a few issues that need to be corrected. As I said, I built it long before the official model was released, only going off of one leaked picture at the time. Regardless, I do hope LEGO ends up using white as the base color, rather than light gray. The X-Wings in the film look much closer to white; there's even a shot in which the camera pans from an X-Wing to the Millennium Falcon, and you can clearly see that the X-Wing is white, whereas the Falcon is light gray.

Considering Zuvio was completely cut from the film, it's extremely unlikely we'll get him at all. Sidon Ithano would be fantastic, though.
-
Thanks a bunch for the DPCI. It seems as though my local Target simply cannot find items without it. Hopefully it'll start appearing in stores, soon. A much needed set after seeing the film.
-
TheBrickShow now has reviews for some of the 2016 sets, including the Battle On Takodana. Of course, if you haven't seen the film, I wouldn't recommend watching any of the set reviews. Spoilers and all that. I want Takodana even more now, having seen the film. I really wish the release date was closer than January 1st.
-
Hopefully we'll start seeing official images of the Force Awakens sets, as well. I can't imagine that the Battle On Takodana would actually spoil anything, based on what we know.
-
Wait, the set is going to cost $50? I was completely under the impression that it'd only be $30.
-
Thanks. The secrecy surrounding LEGO sets is very obnoxious, so it's nice to see all the leaks. The Snowspeeder Microfighter turned out much better than I thought it would, but I still wonder why they didn't go with a different vehicle.

I'm a little disappointed that the First Order Battlepack doesn't include the Assault Walker as seen in this Hasbro toy. Would've been a perfect fit, considering how small it is. Guess I'll have to MOC it. Other than that, I'm extremely happy with how the sets have turned out so far. The Carbon Freezing Chamber is the best of the bunch. Can't wait to see the other TFA sets!
